## Portainer Reviews
  ### 1. Strong tool for Docker Management

**Rating:** 5.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Verified User in Computer Networking | Small-Business (50 or fewer emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** November 02, 2023

**What do you like best about Portainer?**

I can manage my VM (that runs Docker Containers such as Apache and Nginx) with ease on a web GUI. It can manage every aspect of Docker, including containers, images, volumes, and even Docker compose.

**What do you dislike about Portainer?**

The Portainer Business Plan is expensive if you have multiple Docker instances. As we only have one main machine, this has not yet been an issue, but it is something we need to keep in mind for future expansion.

**What problems is Portainer solving and how is that benefiting you?**

We needed a way to manage Docker using a web ui. SSH'ing into our VM whenever we needed to make changes was not feasible, as we do not have full-time debugging staff. A web gui allows even less-technical staff to make basic changes to our containers.

  ### 2. Docker made easy

**Rating:** 5.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Verified User in Information Technology and Services | Small-Business (50 or fewer emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** August 08, 2023

**What do you like best about Portainer?**

Portainer makes managing Docker instance super simple as it provides a nice and simple-to-use web UI. It provides a simple way to create and monitor containers in detail. It is also nice that they provide a free license for the enterprise-grade edition for 3 nodes, which is great for testing the software and home users.

**What do you dislike about Portainer?**

If there is an error in creating a new stack it creates a limited stack instead of just not creating one.

**What problems is Portainer solving and how is that benefiting you?**

It provides fast access to deploying and monitoring the containers from a single interface, the logs and everything is great and offers a quick glance at everything you need to know.

**Official Response from Diane Hannay:**

> Thanks for your review! It's great to hear that you're finding Portainer simple to use, and helpful for deploying and monitoring containers.

  ### 3. Best container management tool

**Rating:** 5.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Darren Lau W. | Small-Business (50 or fewer emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** February 05, 2024

**What do you like best about Portainer?**

It allows me to manage my services on the go and not only on PC.

**What do you dislike about Portainer?**

The free premium licence only have 3 nodes.

**What problems is Portainer solving and how is that benefiting you?**

It helps me to manage container on my phone.

  ### 4. Portainers makes docker easier

**Rating:** 5.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Daryan L. | Developer, Small-Business (50 or fewer emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** October 05, 2023

**What do you like best about Portainer?**

Portainers gives you a really nice graphical user interface to manage all your containers to run, stop, remove or delete. Meanwhile being able to add more than one node and monitor all your services without the hassle to login to your server everytime.

**What do you dislike about Portainer?**

Not having support for mobile makes it a little harder to manage on your phone.

**What problems is Portainer solving and how is that benefiting you?**

Managing everything in one place makes it very easier to any administrator.

  ### 5. The best tool to manage and control the containers is Kubernetes.

**Rating:** 5.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Amr S. | Founder, Small-Business (50 or fewer emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** September 25, 2023

**What do you like best about Portainer?**

It is very easy to use and integrate, and you can easily install it or use it. You can add as many servers as you like and get an instant response for each action you take. Also, you have a variety of features that you can take advantage of, and it will make your life so much easier.

**What do you dislike about Portainer?**

An easier way to update the docker image of Portainer itself.

**What problems is Portainer solving and how is that benefiting you?**

<p>Managing containers and images.</p>

  ### 6. Easy and good

**Rating:** 5.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Verified User in Computer Software | Small-Business (50 or fewer emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** January 26, 2024

**What do you like best about Portainer?**

Its easy to use, to implement and to integrate into the infrastructure and the number of functions is awesome!

**What do you dislike about Portainer?**

i doesn't found any downside yet and use it very often.

**What problems is Portainer solving and how is that benefiting you?**

Instead of managing my infrastructure with linux screens i used portainer to integrate all my infrastructure into docker.

  ### 7. A single pane of glass for Docker management

**Rating:** 5.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Steve O. | Small-Business (50 or fewer emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** May 23, 2023

**What do you like best about Portainer?**

Managing multiple docker instances from a single pane of glass makes the day-to-day operations a LOT EASIER! As a very small team, managing both the dev docker instances AS WELL AS the production docker instances makes it so much easier to have a consistent workflow, effective processes and efficient methodologies for the deployment, oeration and management of the fleet.

**What do you dislike about Portainer?**

The connection to the Portainer agent, which runs on the production docker instance, can feel slow, depending on network conditions. Of course, that is a little harsh, as the snappy response of the on-prem Portainer instance skews your experience. Overall though, this is not an operational concern

**What problems is Portainer solving and how is that benefiting you?**

Consistency in container deployment in both dev and production - being quickly able to view, troubleshoot, compare and manage container deployments has reduced our TTR significantly.

**Official Response from Diane Hannay:**

> Thanks Steve. We appreciate the review and the feedback. Great to hear that Portainer is making your operations easier and saving you time.

  ### 8. Portainer is great for managing your containers

**Rating:** 5.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Brad T. | Mid-Market (51-1000 emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** September 15, 2023

**What do you like best about Portainer?**

I guess my favorite thing is being able to see at a glance what volumes/images are unused.

**What do you dislike about Portainer?**

I've been having trouble with getting GitHub image repo (ghcr.io) to work properly. I still have to log into the command line and use docker pull.

**What problems is Portainer solving and how is that benefiting you?**

I can manage multiple Docker hosts from one pane of glass. Portainer shows me when my images are out of date when I have a stack deployed. That is pretty great.

  ### 9. The Best way to manage my containers

**Rating:** 5.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Maher A. | Small-Business (50 or fewer emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** March 29, 2023

**What do you like best about Portainer?**

It gives a great User interface which makes my job a lot easier, and it makes container deployment and image management so much easier and I don't even have to write commands for deployment.

So simple to oversee, screen, and make docker holders and stacks. I'm a visual individual the capacity to do all of the progressed docker stuff through a web GUI was a dream come genuine. Moreover, I can fair include Portainer in my dev stacks and it's continuously there when I'm working.

Portainer CE is an awesome tool for container administration that can offer assistance to clients to streamline the whole process. One of its most critical points of interest is its user-friendly interface, which is idealized for individuals who are not recognizable to containers or those who essentially prefer a cleaner interface. Another good thing about Portainer CE is that it underpins different container orchestrators, counting Docker Swarm and Kubernetes. It moreover offers a wide range of additional features such as holder checking, which is able to assist you to create beyond any doubt that your administrations remain up and running without issues.

**What do you dislike about Portainer?**

Portainer makes Docker unfamiliar to users, and can cause troubleshooting problems, and is confined to DOcker only. It does not support non-Docker environments and may not be as customizable as other container management tools.

**What problems is Portainer solving and how is that benefiting you?**

Portainer is the best for me because it makes me more productive and allows me to deploy containerized applications easily and quickly. Resource monitoring for containers is also very useful. Portainer comes with a registry of commonly used containers so you can use it like an app store for containers. Editing Dockerfiles and configuring containers from the web interface is much better than doing it from the command line.

  ### 10. Portainer takes all the work out of using Docker containers.

**Rating:** 5.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Verified User in Security and Investigations | Mid-Market (51-1000 emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** September 07, 2023

**What do you like best about Portainer?**

Portainer simplifies Docker container management with an intuitive, user-friendly interface, access control, and more features than any of its competitors. It is, hands down, the go-to choice for both experienced users and novices alike.

**What do you dislike about Portainer?**

Really the only thing I dislike about Portainer is it does too good of a job doing the work. New users can create and manage a Docker container without ever actually knowing anything about Docker. I'm a bit old school, so I feel like you should go through the pain.

**What problems is Portainer solving and how is that benefiting you?**

The major problem that Portainer solved for us was a lack of expertise, we knew we should be utilitizing containers, but didn't have anyone on staff that was familiar with the process. Portainer allowed us to get up and running and start getting all the benefits of using containers without adding staff or downtime as we leveled up our skillsets.

  ### 11. Completely changed how I managed containers

**Rating:** 5.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Verified User in Information Technology and Services | Small-Business (50 or fewer emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** July 12, 2023

**What do you like best about Portainer?**

Portainer.io simplifies container management, GitOps, and Kubernetes integration.
User-friendly interface for easy container management, even for beginners.
Monitoring capabilities and resource tracking enhance container performance.
Seamless integration with GitOps workflows for streamlined continuous integration and deployment.
Full control over Kubernetes environment, with features for deploying, scaling, and monitoring containers.

**What do you dislike about Portainer?**

Improvement needed in providing more detailed information on container redeployment failures.
Can you guys give more than 5 free nodes in the pro version? (lol, Oliver Twist here)

**What problems is Portainer solving and how is that benefiting you?**

Container management in our staging and production enviroments, Portainer also helps change what should have been really technical and involve a lot of CLI and commands into a really pleasant experience.
monitoring and updating containers can not be any simpler, it's integration with Kubenetes wiped out a good chunk of the learning curve required to adopt

**Official Response from Diane Hannay:**

> Thanks for your great review! So nice to hear that you're enjoying the GitOps, monitoring, and resource tracking capabilities of Portainer.

  ### 12. Simple docker management with Portainer

**Rating:** 5.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Verified User in Information Technology and Services | Small-Business (50 or fewer emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** September 13, 2023

**What do you like best about Portainer?**

I use Portainer as a GUI to manage docker containers. The business problems it addresses is the complicated management of docker with lots of containers and using the command line. It's way easier to manage docker containers with Portainer due to the friendly Web GUI it provides. It literally makes the management really easy, for updating, creating, recreating and managing the containers.

**What do you dislike about Portainer?**

I don't have anything bad to say against Portainer. It will be cool if it had like a 2FA aditionally with any other type of authentication.

**What problems is Portainer solving and how is that benefiting you?**

The management of docker containers, creating, deleteing, updating, configuring and more.

  ### 13. Signifigantly reduced time managing containers

**Rating:** 5.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Verified User in Religious Institutions | Small-Business (50 or fewer emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** January 08, 2024

**What do you like best about Portainer?**

Very easy to manage and update containers. Works well on all tested browsers including mobile.

**What do you dislike about Portainer?**

Have had issues updating but that was quickly resolved.

**What problems is Portainer solving and how is that benefiting you?**

Switching away from many VMs each running one service to a containerized system with less overhead.

  ### 14. The missing UI for Docker

**Rating:** 5.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Michael P. | Senior DevOps Engineer/Head of Cloud Software, Biotechnology, Small-Business (50 or fewer emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** August 22, 2022

**What do you like best about Portainer?**

At a glance monitoring for Docker environments, both large and small. Built-in compose integration makes life as a developer or a SysAdmin insanely easy. The duplicate/edit workflow for modifying running containers is nothing short of a godsend that everyone who uses Docker has wished for at some point. Automatic container image upgrades in the enterprise version.

**What do you dislike about Portainer?**

Kubernetes management seems somewhat half-baked, at least compared to out-of-the-box solutions like the console that comes with it. Annoying and tacky shilling for the paid product in the free one (taking the form of bright orange switches that are forced on or off, and there is no way to hide these). I wish it were possible for Portainer to update itself instead of requiring manual intervention outside.

**What problems is Portainer solving and how is that benefiting you?**

Portainer makes it so I have to spend less of my limited time on managing my container environment. If I want to demonstrate some new application, the workflows make it easy for me to test, make changes, and redeploy much faster than I could from any other toolset.

  ### 15. Portainer makes it easy to manage my educational docker instances

**Rating:** 5.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Brendan W. | Teacher, Small-Business (50 or fewer emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** August 26, 2023

**What do you like best about Portainer?**

I saw many instances of unused volumes, images, and other things. Portainer made it easy to clean everything up.

**What do you dislike about Portainer?**

When creating a new container or downloading an image, a progress bar would be a nice upgrade rather than a spinning wheel.

**What problems is Portainer solving and how is that benefiting you?**

It's making it easier to manage my instances, allowing me to use Docker more effectively. Containers are better than creating VM's which are wasteful.

  ### 16. Portaining my containers

**Rating:** 5.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Juan Carlos V. | Software Engineer, Small-Business (50 or fewer emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** September 08, 2023

**What do you like best about Portainer?**

Web UI, ease of use and to exactly to the point, not cluttered.

**What do you dislike about Portainer?**

For my specific use case I have not encountered any issue or disliking anything

**What problems is Portainer solving and how is that benefiting you?**

Management of containers across multiple development environments. I can clearly see the bigger picture and detect any anomalies right away instead of logging via ssh and check via command tools

  ### 17. Makes Container management Accessible to Everyone

**Rating:** 5.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** richard l. | Enterprise (> 1000 emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** June 13, 2023

**What do you like best about Portainer?**

Portainer has opened up the world of Docker to me. I would not have done any of my work with Containers if I only had the command line.

**What do you dislike about Portainer?**

The worst thing about Portainer is getting it up and running. How do you install the container without Portainer to help you?

**What problems is Portainer solving and how is that benefiting you?**

As a hardware guy moving more towards systems, Portainer is helping me break through some of the barriers to software configuration. I used to be intimidated by the whole concept of Docker, but using Portainer I can see what is going on in my environment.

  ### 18. Containers for people with jobs and lives

**Rating:** 5.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Israel A. | Small-Business (50 or fewer emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** September 26, 2023

**What do you like best about Portainer?**

How easy it is. Creating containers is so easy with Portainer.

**What do you dislike about Portainer?**

That it has to run as a container instead of being the whole environment

**What problems is Portainer solving and how is that benefiting you?**

Managing and migrating containers between hosts is much easier. Plus, the gui makes monitoring the containers so easy.

  ### 19. Very useful and intuitive

**Rating:** 5.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Juan S. | Small-Business (50 or fewer emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** October 29, 2023

**What do you like best about Portainer?**

I like the customization that is offered with portainer

**What do you dislike about Portainer?**

I wish everything was a bit more obvious

**What problems is Portainer solving and how is that benefiting you?**

My management of docker images

  ### 20. Portainer, best Container Managment System

**Rating:** 5.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Dominik S. | Tech Support, Small-Business (50 or fewer emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** March 22, 2023

**What do you like best about Portainer?**

The best thing about Portainer is its flexibility with stack, network, image, volume and container management. i also develop a lot of my own programs and i love it when a customer uses portainer because the management in portainer is much easier.

**What do you dislike about Portainer?**

I really need to think of something, but I would say the things that have nothing to do with Docker since I currently only manage Docker hosts. The only thing I miss would be something like a node exporter for Prometheus or an alerting system.

**What problems is Portainer solving and how is that benefiting you?**

I use it mainly for container and stack management, it's very easy to go into the container interactive like reading logs. it is very easy to have an overview of all resources so that you can plan the resources better.

  ### 21. For a reticent nay-sayer, Portainer has changed my mind.

**Rating:** 5.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Tony L. | Founder, Small-Business (50 or fewer emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** January 28, 2023

**What do you like best about Portainer?**

The user interface is incredibly intuitive and easy to navigate, making it easy to keep track of all of my containers and their status. The ability to quickly deploy new containers and update existing ones is excellent. Being able to see port conflicts from the dashboard is probably the most valuable tool

Portainer is flexibie. In my lab, I use it for containers on my home network and have deployed it on Oracle free instances in both i86 and ARM architectures. I wouldn't say I liked containerised solutions because of interoperability problems until I came across Portainer. It is an ideal solution for both personal and professional use.

The community support around Portainer is outstanding. Searching for problems and finding solutions that are helpful is easy, and there is a wealth of information and resources available online.

I highly recommend Portainer to anyone looking for an extensible, easy-to-use container management solution. It has saved me countless hours and made my life easier.

**What do you dislike about Portainer?**

There is no downside for me (yet). There is nothing I don't like, but I have not researched alternatives--and won't unless I come across a situation where Portainer fails to provide the solution I need.

**What problems is Portainer solving and how is that benefiting you?**

I am involved with the tech for a dozen different SMEs. Portainer allows me to spin up and dispose of containers easily to test applications, servers, interoperability and functionality quickly.

  ### 22. It makes your life easier

**Rating:** 5.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Antonio A. | Software Development Coordinator, Small-Business (50 or fewer emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** May 15, 2023

**What do you like best about Portainer?**

If you work in a team and not everyone is familiar with docker deployment in cli, using Portainer is a good idea. It provides an intuitive UI that will help anyone to deploy a new stack or update a running one.

**What do you dislike about Portainer?**

I just can think of something related to price. Unfortunately, the license price is a bit expensive for Brazilians managing a small business

**What problems is Portainer solving and how is that benefiting you?**

Container help me deploy stacks in development and production environments. It also makes it possible for people who isn't familiar with docker deployment in cli to manage containers and stacks.

  ### 23. Ports to the World: Revolutionizing Global Software Deployment with Next-Gen Containerization

**Rating:** 5.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** David M. | VP of Engineering, Small-Business (50 or fewer emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** November 27, 2023

**What do you like best about Portainer?**

The UI of Portainer reveals everything; it offers a simple method to fully grasp your container environment.

Ease of Use.

**What do you dislike about Portainer?**

Love it all. Time will tell.

Customer Support.

**What problems is Portainer solving and how is that benefiting you?**

CI/CD Pipline.

  ### 24. best docker manager i have used

**Rating:** 4.5/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Luis N. | Mid-Market (51-1000 emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** November 14, 2023

**What do you like best about Portainer?**

esasy, powerfull, all that you really need to streamline those apps on docker

**What do you dislike about Portainer?**

it has a not so friendly UI, it has a learning curve

**What problems is Portainer solving and how is that benefiting you?**

having all my docker apps in one place, also updatethem.

  ### 25. Portainer: Simplifying Docker Container Management with Ease

**Rating:** 5.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Pedro H. | Small-Business (50 or fewer emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** May 25, 2023

**What do you like best about Portainer?**

Portainer provides an intuitive interface that simplifies container management tasks. This can result in time savings for system administrators as they can perform actions more efficiently and quickly

**What do you dislike about Portainer?**

Portainer's primary focus is on simplifying container management, but it may lack some advanced functionalities required for complex scenarios or specific use cases. Users with more advanced needs may find themselves needing to utilize additional tools or resort to command-line interfaces

**What problems is Portainer solving and how is that benefiting you?**

Portainer addresses the complexity of managing Docker containers by providing a user-friendly web-based interface. It allows us to perform common container management tasks, such as starting, stopping, and monitoring containers, without the need for extensive knowledge of command-line tools. This simplification can save time and effort for managing containerized applications.

  ### 26. Good

**Rating:** 5.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Anton B. | Small-Business (50 or fewer emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** July 20, 2023

**What do you like best about Portainer?**

The best thing about Portainer is that it is so easy and smooth docker management

**What do you dislike about Portainer?**

What I like is that it can be a bit complicated to install on a new docker management

**What problems is Portainer solving and how is that benefiting you?**

It solved a lot in my docker management, and it benefits me to use a lot more docker

  ### 27. I wouldn't work with docker without having Portainer alongside from now on

**Rating:** 5.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Mahesh W. | Founder, Software Engineer, Small-Business (50 or fewer emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** December 30, 2022

**What do you like best about Portainer?**

I can't believe that Portainer, first of all, carries a community edition that is entirely free and capable of catering to pretty much any SME. Complete control over Kubernetes/docker is there for you even in the community edition. But I did end up going with the business edition since it comes with more features and better support.

Deploying Portainer didn't even take 2 minutes since it can also be a docker stack. Portainer has saved so much of my day-to-day time since it provides a GUI utility of running a stack and having full control over it, right from the web interface. I don't have to constantly deal with SSH tasks since I discovered Portainer.

2 big pros you would be thankful for when using Portainer, are the amount of real-time resource monitoring it provides per container and the real-time logging. Also, I should mention that Portainer can also connect to each container's shell with a single click and you can run commands inside those containers right from the web interface.

This is my second year with Portainer and I can guarantee there wouldn't be a single thing you'd be missing if you need full control over docker.

**What do you dislike about Portainer?**

The only thing I wish Portainer would have is an internal mechanism for 2-factor authentication. They do have support for third-party authentication methods, but I feel like the users would benefit more from an inbuilt solution.

**What problems is Portainer solving and how is that benefiting you?**

Portainer is saving so much time for developers meanwhile providing so much additional quality of use for software that's great, to begin with. Not to mention the security it provides and the flexibility of access control over corporate resources. It goes without saying that if a company relies on in-house IT services, it'd be quite a difficult task to manage without a tool like Portainer.

  ### 28. Portainer an Open Source and cross-platform solution to manage your Docker hosts more easily!

**Rating:** 5.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Elisabetta B. | Ecommerce Manager, Consumer Goods, Small-Business (50 or fewer emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** February 10, 2023

**What do you like best about Portainer?**

Portainer is an Open Source and cross-platform solution that provides a web interface to manage Docker hosts more easily; installable on Windows, Linux and FreeBSD distributions and OSX, the Portainer UI allows you to administer containers, images, networks and volumes through a dashboard capable of making visible the details of all manageable entities.

**What do you dislike about Portainer?**

For some Portainer base licenses, there is no express or implied warranty for the software. As Open Source software, there is a risk that software support may be discontinued. The company may lose interest in the Open Source version by going in a different direction or be forced to stop development and distribution due to economic or external factors.

**What problems is Portainer solving and how is that benefiting you?**

Thanks to Portainer, new containers can be created or simplified deployment steps can be carried out using a special template-based system; several ready-to-use templates for deploying widely used applications and platforms into production: databases (MySQL, MongoDB, PostgreSQL, MariaDB..), in-memory data stores (Redis), CMSs (WordPress, Joomla, Drupal..), Web servers (Httpd, nginx..), media servers and messaging platforms.

  ### 29. Awesome tool for docker environment!

**Rating:** 5.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Gilberto T. | Small-Business (50 or fewer emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** March 29, 2023

**What do you like best about Portainer?**

It is very easy to install Portainer with docker and it has many powerful integrations like LDAP authentication and github credentials that allow you to connect Portainer stacks and Github actions securely.

**What do you dislike about Portainer?**

The secrets management is the only one configuration that i miss when use Portainer with Docker standalone. This feature is enabled only when use Docker Swarm.

**What problems is Portainer solving and how is that benefiting you?**

With Portainer, we migrated from 3 virtual machines with different technologies (PHP, Aspnet Core, Node) and now we only need one virtual machine to run all applications. The other machines gained new responsibilities, such as contingency, backup and load balancing.

  ### 30. UI for Management

**Rating:** 5.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Caio V. | Project Manager, Small-Business (50 or fewer emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** December 12, 2022

**What do you like best about Portainer?**

Portainer brings a friendly, clean UI and, most importantly, a complete one, using multiple nodes, cloud services, and account management. In a world where Low Code is gaining space, especially for managements that dislike remembering a lot of command lines, that´s the go-to tool for use, no matter the team size.

**What do you dislike about Portainer?**

It´s so complete that if your containerization knowledge is not on par, you may get a little lost initially. However, in the long run, you will learn more about Kubernetes, docker, swarm, templates, and containers than before you started with Portainer. To not mislead, it´s not a high learning curve, it's just a step to use Portainer fully.

**What problems is Portainer solving and how is that benefiting you?**

Portainer solved security concerns while using multiple clouds and requiring multiple logins. It can store a simple connect agent on the cloud containers and manage two-factor authentication for Portainer logins, granting safer container management and template sharing and creation across the teams.

**Official Response from Diane Hannay:**

> Thanks for your review Caio. Great to hear that Portainer has helped your team learn more about Kubernetes, Docker, and containers. :)

  ### 31. Beautiful GUI and excellent security!

**Rating:** 5.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Alain W. | Lead IT Specialist - Data Manager, Small-Business (50 or fewer emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** July 11, 2023

**What do you like best about Portainer?**

Easy kube-config import, and environment dashboard.

**What do you dislike about Portainer?**

No ability to delete nodes, and cannot prune volumes easily.

**What problems is Portainer solving and how is that benefiting you?**

Monitoring kubernetes workload deployments - visually. Portainer benefits our team by managing our deployed pods in a workload and showing us tasks jobs that have run to completion.

**Official Response from Diane Hannay:**

> Thanks Alain for your lovely review of Portainer. Great to hear that you're using the kube-config import feature and enjoying the monitoring features of Portainer. :)

  ### 32. Great option when you need to get started fast

**Rating:** 5.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Bryan P. | Small-Business (50 or fewer emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** February 02, 2023

**What do you like best about Portainer?**

Honestly, I like the interface and how straightforward it was to perform the functions that I needed to. The documentation helps as well with the ability to perform anything that is perhaps more complicated.

**What do you dislike about Portainer?**

The only issue that there was for me to dislike was the confusion that I had between Docker and Docker Hub. I'm new to containerization, and it is easy to assume that other people may not understand that containers installed both ways may not be visible to the other.

**What problems is Portainer solving and how is that benefiting you?**

Managing multiple containers is allowing me to have multiple containers all running at the same time. I know that I can stop and start the individual containers as needed without worrying that I will forget about them.

  ### 33. Portainer Installation to simplify Docker-Stack Deployment for our customers

**Rating:** 4.5/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Fabian S. | Mid-Market (51-1000 emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** February 20, 2023

**What do you like best about Portainer?**

We like the wide range of supported Docker deployment options (Swarm, Kubernetes, Standalone), the ability to see which containers are outdated and of course the ability to use one Portainer instance to control many more hosts by installing the Portainer agent.

**What do you dislike about Portainer?**

The stacking function takes some time to get used to. But after some reading of the docs it became clear and quite simple to use. But that was more a fault on our side (we were new to docker stacks / compose).

**What problems is Portainer solving and how is that benefiting you?**

Without Portainer we would have to manage every docker host on its own, which is very time consuming and you'll quickly lose track of all your docker installations.

  ### 34. It is a great product.

**Rating:** 5.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Silviu A. | Small-Business (50 or fewer emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** March 17, 2023

**What do you like best about Portainer?**

You won't find anything like Portainer on the current market. The app templates are a great addition, and I love them! It also has a very responsive web application that works on almost anything.

**What do you dislike about Portainer?**

I want more customization like you can pin selected items on your sidebar and more like this; I would like to see this implemented. This is the only thing I would improve.

**What problems is Portainer solving and how is that benefiting you?**

It helps a lot when you don't know the commands of the container service you are hosting, and it makes it very easy and intuitive to make changes and create new things.

  ### 35. Brilliant. Easy to use

**Rating:** 5.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Elker X. | Small-Business (50 or fewer emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** May 21, 2023

**What do you like best about Portainer?**

It is very easy to use and has very good documentation for all services. It has allowed me to manage my servers much easier and has very good authentication settings.

**What do you dislike about Portainer?**

I think the downsides of portainer do not effect me in any way.

**What problems is Portainer solving and how is that benefiting you?**

It is meaning I don't have to be constantly in the terminal and allows me to control my containers through any device.

  ### 36. A great Universal Container management Tool for everyone!

**Rating:** 5.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Massimiliano G. | Art Director & Web Developer, Small-Business (50 or fewer emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** February 08, 2023

**What do you like best about Portainer?**

Portainer is a cost-effective way to manage distributed container environments. The software can be installed on Desktop, NAS, Server etc. but one of the preferred ways is to install as a Docker container. Thanks to the Docker container, Portainer can therefore be run practically anywhere.

**What do you dislike about Portainer?**

Unlike other Container Tools, Portainer is not a standalone Kubernetes distribution. Indeed, Portainer centralizes and unifies the management of existing cluster infrastructures through the use of a web-based graphical interface.

**What problems is Portainer solving and how is that benefiting you?**

Through the management of each application within a single component that can be distributed and configured with a single command line, Portainer allows you to simplify the deployment of any application, without having to worry about the configuration of the runtime environment; as a result, the management of application release cycles is also simplified. In addition Portainer ensures that applications and resources are isolated, because each container has resources isolated from those of the others.

  ### 37. Great way to manage your docker installations

**Rating:** 5.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Nathan C. | Senior system Engineer, Small-Business (50 or fewer emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** January 25, 2023

**What do you like best about Portainer?**

Docker is a new beast to me, and Portainer is helping me understand it faster than many Linux solutions that I've jumped into head first. It has helped me visualize the different settings, variables and configuration items to work through what I need for each application I deploy.

**What do you dislike about Portainer?**

So far, the only issues I have with Docker is a bug that is preventing me from adding GPU's to containers. I am researching work arounds and suspect had I understood Docker better without a simplified interface, the work around would be easier.

**What problems is Portainer solving and how is that benefiting you?**

Portainer is branching my background of Windows administration to my weaker Linux/Docker skills. It's allowing me to visualize the necessary configurations for each container and troubleshooting issues.

  ### 38. Have you managed Docker on Linux ? You can manage Docker with Portainer through any webbrowser.

**Rating:** 5.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Koncz T. | www.rock.koncztom.com (Automatic Music Box. My Free & Non-Profit website), Small-Business (50 or fewer emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** November 20, 2022

**What do you like best about Portainer?**

The best thing about it is that it saves me time when using Docker. This is what I like the best.

I love the Amazon Web Services S3 connection, which automatically saves my Docker settings on my S3 server.

**What do you dislike about Portainer?**

I hate that it cannot auto-update my images and reload my docker containers. So to update docker images, including the Portainer image itself, I have to use the Linux terminal. There should be an update button or an auto-update for all images.

I also do not feel secure with Portainer, even with Portainer Business Edition, because no Google Authentication provides secure login. I use Google Authentication in many places on my server, even to log into my Linux server terminal and webmin.

There are too many notification messages in the latest 2.16.1 version of Portainer. I got notifications at the notification bell for every small Portainer activity.

**What problems is Portainer solving and how is that benefiting you?**

With Portainer, I can control multiple containers parallelly with numerous command lines.

I have created my first website (http://www.koncztom.com:8006/) running on a container, and one day I will run C# ASP.NET behind my website.

**Official Response from Diane Hannay:**

> Thanks for your review! With regard to your comments about security and Google Authentication, you can update a container through Portainer by editing it and redeploying it with the 'pull latest image' option selected. For auto updates, we don't support it (but it's been much asked for), and for now we recommend people use something like Watchtower.

  ### 39. Best of the container/docker Management-- Look no further- Portainer to the rescue

**Rating:** 5.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Sameer S. | Small-Business (50 or fewer emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** June 30, 2023

**What do you like best about Portainer?**

The easy to use interface and and all the information about stacks and volumes

**What do you dislike about Portainer?**

none, I like it for the most part. All seems to integrate properly.

**What problems is Portainer solving and how is that benefiting you?**

Database/Website management, along with all the CRM automation

  ### 40. Portainer. A great tool to manage Docker and Kubernetes Infrastucture.

**Rating:** 5.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Izak H. | CEO, Information Technology and Services, Small-Business (50 or fewer emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** November 07, 2022

**What do you like best about Portainer?**

The interface - We here at Izak Web Design like the interface because it is easy to use, and we can train non-technical team members to use it with ease. We use it to manage API endpoints in docker containers for our client and the in-house applications we develop.

**What do you dislike about Portainer?**

Some of the downsides are that some docker-compose functions do you pull through well, especially when a complicated .env file is used. This has been a minor hurdle as we can easily still use docker-compose on the terminal and all the instances it creates can still be managed through portainer and its interface.

**What problems is Portainer solving and how is that benefiting you?**

It is helping us solve the problem of having non-technical people be able to view and monitor our systems and containers without a vast background in docker and how it works. This has helped us to expand our customer support team to a more diverse group of people.

  ### 41. Very useful tool for managing docker containers.

**Rating:** 5.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Verified User in Computer Software | Small-Business (50 or fewer emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** January 14, 2023

**What do you like best about Portainer?**

I can view all the containers and their status nicely using a web browser. It is easy to check the logs or use the container's console for changes, still all from the web browser. I like that it shows the images that I have downloaded, and I can easily remove not used ones as they have a flag not used. I also like a preview on networks and volumes that allow me to check if I created something by mistake. My favorite is to restart a container with the latest image.

**What do you dislike about Portainer?**

It's tough to find anything bad or wrong regarding Portainer. I have two machines that I am running docker containers on, and I use Docker Swarm and Docker Compose. I have to check if there is a possibility regarding control over the Compose that was started from the console on the second machine when Portainer is hosted on the first one. I could imagine a killer feature if Portainer had a container registry where one could push one's images.

**What problems is Portainer solving and how is that benefiting you?**

I could probably live without Portainer, but it speeds things up. I don't have to check everything from the terminal, but Portainer has a friendly interface. E.g., when I need to use the container's console, I don't have to list all the containers and execute bash there (maybe it's alpine, and there is no bash :)), but I click exec console, and I am in.

  ### 42. Managing container made easy

**Rating:** 4.5/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Pranay S. | CTO, Small-Business (50 or fewer emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** January 18, 2023

**What do you like best about Portainer?**

UI is so polished that navigating through Portainer almost comes naturally. It's so simple to use and yet so powerful.
To top it all, it is available in self-host version, which is excellent.

**What do you dislike about Portainer?**

Permission management could be better.
When using SSO, local authentication can either be enabled or completely disabled. A simple solution is sending an extra parameter in the URL to show/override the local authentication setting and temporarily display the login form in case of a lockout.

**What problems is Portainer solving and how is that benefiting you?**

An easier way to manage the docker container
Single dashboard to view the health of all containers and stacks
Templating docker-compose files for easier and faster deployments

  ### 43. Easy and robust

**Rating:** 5.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Verified User in Telecommunications | Small-Business (50 or fewer emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** May 02, 2023

**What do you like best about Portainer?**

Portainer faciliates a super easy way to manage my containers, and I am able to manage all aspects of my docker set up easily. It also allowed me to learn about how to use docker as a more advanced user

**What do you dislike about Portainer?**

To be honest, there isn't anything I dislike about Portainer, it does what I need to do perfectly and I can't really comment any further! Just keep doing what you are doing :)

**What problems is Portainer solving and how is that benefiting you?**

Allows me to manage multiple containers for different services on a server, I can easily create new ones and manage exisiting ones

**Official Response from Diane Hannay:**

> Thanks for the great review. Happy to hear that Portainer helps you easily manage multiple containers.

  ### 44. Simple and powerful

**Rating:** 5.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Verified User in Computer Software | Mid-Market (51-1000 emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** January 07, 2023

**What do you like best about Portainer?**

I love the fact Portainer automates the deployment, monitoring and update of docker-compose stacks. It removes the hurdle of remembering where files and definitions were placed and it allows at-a-glance monitoring of the stack, like configured ports, volumes, logs and interactive terminal to the containers.
It is also an excellent tool for providing non-technical people basic access to health status and restarting deployed applications.
Finally, I greatly appreciate the stack update automation feature. It allows to monitor our git repositories and redeploy the stack whenever the docker-compose file changes.

**What do you dislike about Portainer?**

The one thing I don't like in my Portainer experience is the fact that navigating inside and outside of containers in the stack view is not well connected. For instance, when restarting a container, the UI moves you back to the stacks list, regardless of the fact that you accessed the container detail from a specific stack.

**What problems is Portainer solving and how is that benefiting you?**

Portainer provides a valuable and complete GUI to manage frameworks that otherwise would be mainly console and configuration-files-based. This allows us to have an at-a-glance view of the different applications deployed on our systems, plus a single, simple access point to all of the maintenance and monitoring operations.

  ### 45. Overall the best GUI manager for docker, even if missing a few features

**Rating:** 4.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** George P. | Full-stack Developer, Small-Business (50 or fewer emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** January 16, 2023

**What do you like best about Portainer?**

Portainer makes managing common tasks for simple deployments braindead easy. It's fast to deploy new containers and configure them with all the features docker offers

**What do you dislike about Portainer?**

It misses a few features that may be useful. For instance, while it allows you to rebuild containers when a webhook is called, you can't poll for new images and rebuild automatically.

**What problems is Portainer solving and how is that benefiting you?**

It helps a lot to quickly deploy containers on our local/dev servers. It also streamlines the process of integrating new devs into our deployment process even if they're not familiar with Docker

**Official Response from Diane Hannay:**

> Hi George, thanks for your review. With regard to your comment "while it allows you to rebuild containers when a webhook is called, you can't poll for new images and rebuild automatically." Have you tried using a Stack with the automatic updates feature? You can learn more about how to do this in our documentation here -> https://docs.portainer.io/user/docker/stacks/add#automatic-updates

  ### 46. Simply manage the complex

**Rating:** 5.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Nuno S. | CTO, Small-Business (50 or fewer emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** October 01, 2022

**What do you like best about Portainer?**

Portainer gave me an interface to simply manage the complexity of what Docker is.

The CLI is great, but Portainer was able to capture all its greatness in a simple and powerful UI.

I would advise Portainer to any CLI expert or beginner alike, considering the free entry point I don't see why not give it a shot and upgrade as needed.

**What do you dislike about Portainer?**

I don't like that it doesn't just come built into Docker for an even easier start.

How wonderful would it be to install docker and have Portainer ready out of the box?

But there isn't really anything I dislike about Portainer itself; it does what I need it to do; it comes out with features that I didn't even know I needed but end up using all the time and just keeps on improving.

However, it would be great if I could manage different hosts (environments) as one instead of having to jump between them all the time.

**What problems is Portainer solving and how is that benefiting you?**

Portainer allows me to manage different Docker Hosts from a single interface without going through the complexity of setting up anything else.

It doesn't matter if it's a Docker Swarm or just independent Docker hosts; I can manage them all, deploy stacks, and start/stop /update containers/stacks from one single interface.

  ### 47. I like its installation, as it is not complicated, and its environment is pleasant.

**Rating:** 5.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Verified User in Computer Networking | Small-Business (50 or fewer emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** December 20, 2022

**What do you like best about Portainer?**

I like its intuitive way of being, it is simple and at the same time complex, also its environment is pleasant and its services are more than effective, it is a great tool that one can have at their disposal.

**What do you dislike about Portainer?**

I have not found any bad sides or negative points in the application, but it would be good if there were a slightly simpler way to upload the backups, as I don't remember what I did to download the previous one, I mean the key and area I entered at the time.

**What problems is Portainer solving and how is that benefiting you?**

It helps me a lot with privacy issues, as I can use my Raspberry as a method of web storage. I can access important files either on a mobile or any PC, I just need to be connected to the same network and I can access the information without always needing to use USB drives.

  ### 48. Home iser

**Rating:** 5.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Toivo D. | Project Manager, Small-Business (50 or fewer emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** June 12, 2023

**What do you like best about Portainer?**

Easy management of containers in home setup

**What do you dislike about Portainer?**

No official app available. No auto update of containers

**What problems is Portainer solving and how is that benefiting you?**

No business, i am a home user

  ### 49. Container management, made simple.

**Rating:** 5.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Paul A. | Senior Software Engineer, Small-Business (50 or fewer emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** December 21, 2022

**What do you like best about Portainer?**

Portainer continues to update with more and more valuable features. I find the stack builder a great tool and the templates for getting up and running quickly when doing some R&D work.

**What do you dislike about Portainer?**

I would love to see a stack template tool. With this missing, I still have to create individual containers. An example would be a development stack template for a LAMP stack (CentOS, Apache 2.4, MySQL 8, PHP8)

**What problems is Portainer solving and how is that benefiting you?**

Mostly R&D. I might need to bring up a container with Python3 for some ML research in the middle of the day. Or maybe see if an older PHP app will run comfortably on a new version of PHP.

  ### 50. It solves many problems in one place.

**Rating:** 5.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Francisco B. | Investigador em Inteligência Artificial para a Saúde - AI4Health, Small-Business (50 or fewer emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** January 10, 2023

**What do you like best about Portainer?**

One central aspect of Portainer is that it makes you sure of the results. No dangling, unexpected resources somewhere. It helps you to have an excellent overview of your dockers on multiple levels, from stacks to several hosts. It also integrates with external resources such as GKE, EKS and AKS.

**What do you dislike about Portainer?**

The only thing I miss is a nice and simple push notification service.

**What problems is Portainer solving and how is that benefiting you?**

Docker orchestration is a demanding task. Having a management platform like Portainer helps you keep all organized and allows you to work in teams and collaborate.

**Official Response from Diane Hannay:**

> Thanks Francisco, really appreciate your review. :)
