What is Sumo Logic, and what problem is it built to solve?

Sumo Logic is a SaaS log analytics platform built to help customers deliver reliable and secure cloud-native applications by turning insights into action.

What languages does Sumo Logic support?

Sumo Logic supports 1 language: English.

What company sizes and industries is Sumo Logic the best fit for?

Sumo Logic’s strongest fit appears to be with mid-market and enterprise teams, particularly in technology-focused organizations. Positive experiences also span several industries and company sizes.
  • Mid-market: Teams with 51–1,000 employees are a prominent segment.
  • Enterprise: Organizations with more than 1,000 employees are also well represented.
  • Industries: Computer software, information technology and services, financial services, and retail stand out among the represented fields.

How long does it take to implement Sumo Logic across a team?

Implementation most commonly takes 1–3 months. Teams describe setup as easier when their data sources are straightforward, while more involved configurations can take longer.

What customer support options does Sumo Logic provide, and how do users find the overall support experience?

Support is available through email/help desk, chat, and phone, with 24/7 live-rep support. The experience is often described as responsive and helpful, with some teams valuing the support as a close working partnership; others have encountered slow ticket responses or escalation delays for complex issues.

What is the experience like for teams switching to Sumo Logic from another tool?

Switching to Sumo Logic is often driven by the desire to centralize logs, improve cloud-based monitoring, expand integrations, or change cost and infrastructure arrangements. Teams have moved from tools including Splunk, New Relic, Datadog, Elastic, Devo, and Exabeam, among other logging, observability, and SIEM platforms. The transition can simplify log collection and investigation, though teams coming from other query systems may need time to learn Sumo Logic’s search syntax.

What tools and platforms does Sumo Logic integrate with, and how do these integrations help users get more value from the product?

Sumo Logic offers 23 integrations. Connections users discuss include security and identity tools, cloud services, and team communications.
  • Security and identity: Auth0 and CrowdStrike Falcon Endpoint Protection Platform.
  • Team communication: Slack.
These connections help bring security events and related operational context together for investigation, while communication integrations can carry alerts into team workflows.

What features or capabilities could make Sumo Logic even more useful?

Sumo Logic could be more useful with smoother onboarding for new users and more accessible ways to build and refine searches. Requests also point to improvements in dashboards and alert management.
  • Guided searching: Make query building easier with clearer examples, templates, and assistance for complex searches.
  • Dashboards and interface: Improve navigation and offer more flexible dashboard layouts and visualizations.
  • Alerting: Make rules easier to customize and tune, with better controls for reducing noisy or repetitive alerts.
  • Data and cost management: Provide clearer guidance for managing ingestion and making costs more predictable.

Is Sumo Logic considered safe and secure for handling data?

Sumo Logic is used for security monitoring, threat investigation, and reviewing activity across centralized logs, and teams describe those capabilities as valuable for visibility and incident response. Audit trails and the ability to search across security events also contribute to confidence in handling operational data. That experience is not a blanket security assurance, so buyers should assess the platform against their own security and data-handling requirements.

"My Three-Year Experience with Sumo Logic: Streamlining Log Management and Issue Resolution"
4.5/5
What do you like best about Sumo Logic?

I have been using Sumo Logic for the past three years, and in my experience, it has been highly effective in addressing issues across multiple environments. One of the main features I find impressive is its quick response time. For example, when we need to retrieve application logs from a server or container orchestration, we typically have to log into the container or server, locate the file path, and search for the relevant logs. However, with Sumo Logic, you can simply enter the error keyword or host details along with the error information and specify the time frame, and you’ll get all the relevant logs from the container within seconds. This is why I highly recommend Sumo Logic to others. Additionally, I’ve used the recently added Copilot feature, and my overall user experience has been excellent. I encourage Sumo Logic to continue integrating new features, such as enhanced error detection, i hope the customer support top be good at all. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

What do you dislike about Sumo Logic?

From a user's perspective, I believe Sumo Logic could improve its UI experience, as the current interface feels outdated and resembles an older application. In my personal experience, a more colorful and modern UI would attract more users and make the platform more enjoyable to use. While the features are excellent, the pricing could be a concern. Users often evaluate whether the cost is justified by the value provided, so ensuring a balance between price and functionality is key. A great customer experience can lead to higher satisfaction and attract more customers. Additionally, I suggest enhancing the onboarding process with more intuitive tutorials or guided workflows to help new users get started quickly. Another improvement could be faster load times for dashboards. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.
