In practice, audit log completeness and retention controls tend to eat the most implementation time, more than the revenue-recognition standard itself, because they touch every module rather than just the billing engine. I've noticed a version of this in reviews too: one CSG Ascendon reviewer described the platform's granular, configurable pricing and billing structures as a real strength, but noted the initial setup and configuration required significant technical involvement to get right. That trade-off, more configurability for audit-grade detail meaning more setup work, seems to show up across most of these platforms.
