## StudioPress Reviews
  ### 1. StudioPress Feels Stagnant: Retired Themes and Slow Innovation

**Rating:** 2.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Verified User in Marketing and Advertising | Small-Business (50 or fewer emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** April 28, 2026

**What do you like best about StudioPress?**

Performance has been a hallmark of StudioPress products for years so they're always a consideration when it comes to speed. The UI/UX took a dramatic turn for the better when they embraced the block editor (which was a big upgrade, in my opinion, from the widget-based experience you used to have to endure). Pricing was great for me as I got a lifetime deal.

**What do you dislike about StudioPress?**

They definitely seem to have fallen behind in terms of development and innovation. Many of the themes they used to support have been "retired" and updates are few and far between. They also really don't seem to offer any integrations that I know of with MCP or other AI tools.

**What problems is StudioPress solving and how is that benefiting you?**

The Genesis framework is rock solid, in my experience, in terms of security and performance. And Genesis Blocks offer some unique features unavailable in other block editors (including the fact that they don't seem to carry the same bloat as many others do).

  ### 2. A solid brand that you can trust

**Rating:** 5.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Cheryl H. | Business Consultant, Small-Business (50 or fewer emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** November 03, 2023

**What do you like best about StudioPress?**

StudioPress was my introduction company to WordPress, so I have a soft spot for them. In the beginning, I fell in love with their templates and strong documentation that even a newbie can figure out how to get their first site up and running. Now, I truly appreciate their hosting platform, technical support team and overall commitment to providing a quality service.

**What do you dislike about StudioPress?**

It's hard for me to think of anything that I dislike. Their hosting is top-notch, but for those with smaller budgets it might be out of their range.

**What problems is StudioPress solving and how is that benefiting you?**

It helped me to build my first blogging website and inspired me become a website developer.

  ### 3. Best themes for WordPress sites that load fast

**Rating:** 5.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Raja B. | Proprietor, Small-Business (50 or fewer emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** August 23, 2023

**What do you like best about StudioPress?**

They do not stuff themes with additional plugins. As a result, each theme is lightweight and optimized for SEO.

**What do you dislike about StudioPress?**

Support and response by the StudioPress theme team is not fast.

**What problems is StudioPress solving and how is that benefiting you?**

For all our WordPress sites, we use themes by StudioPress. Responsive and works great with WooCommerce. While Magazine Pro theme is great for a content site, Authority Pro/Essence Pro for a professional service provider.

  ### 4. Most Powerful framework to develop Solid WordPress Websites

**Rating:** 4.5/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Somnath J. | Managing Director, Small-Business (50 or fewer emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** October 26, 2023

**What do you like best about StudioPress?**

Studiopress is a very highly flexible WordPress Website Development Framework. It has a lot of useful features like one-click installation, and hassle-free migrations.

**What do you dislike about StudioPress?**

Studiopress subscription cost is very huge as compared to other WordPress development platforms.

**What problems is StudioPress solving and how is that benefiting you?**

It saves development time. Helps us write complex code by proving hooks.

  ### 5. Mobile responsive but complex

**Rating:** 3.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Verified User in Higher Education | Small-Business (50 or fewer emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** January 31, 2022

**What do you like best about StudioPress?**

Secure, good customer support, responsive

**What do you dislike about StudioPress?**

A new world within wordpress itself. May have many plugin conflicts. Works better with Gutenberg - so there you are - need to be ready with that as well..Can get complex and there is a definite learning curve. overall, if I recommend keeping the blog with simple features and more as a traffic and SEO puller. Do not load it will too many bells and whistles. Greater plugin load will make it too complex for a small non-tech team to handle it

**Recommendations to others considering StudioPress:**

New to studiopress? Need a lot of features? If so, be prepared for a sharp learning curve ....it's robust but not too easy. Retain buffer time resolution of tech and plugin conflicts

**What problems is StudioPress solving and how is that benefiting you?**

Needed a robust, long term platform for my website (125 pages+). Studiopress, so far, has worked just ok - definitely could use more improvement

  ### 6. Solid Framework

**Rating:** 4.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Mindy I. | Owner, Consulting, Small-Business (50 or fewer emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** January 27, 2022

**What do you like best about StudioPress?**

What I always liked about StudioPress was the solid structure they built for the base theme. This allowed creative designers to build different layouts and designs without having to worry about the foundation.

**What do you dislike about StudioPress?**

While StudioPress improved their base theme, the themes designed by others were oftentimes not kept up with. This meant that websites built using certain Genesis themes were not updated, and although, as a web designer I know how important it is to update your website every couple of years, this is just not something many clients are willing to do.

**What problems is StudioPress solving and how is that benefiting you?**

I used StudioPress to build many websites because I loved the framework. It was something that I got to know very well so it was easy for me to see which themes would be easy to customize to my liking and which ones would take more time to do so, allowing me to pick themes that worked well for my clients' websites.

  ### 7. Visually appealing themes for WordPress sites compatible with WooCommerce

**Rating:** 5.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Rishi B. | Proprietor, Small-Business (50 or fewer emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** January 24, 2023

**What do you like best about StudioPress?**

Compatibility with WooCommerce thereby making WordPress sites and WooCommerce stores visually appealing.

**What do you dislike about StudioPress?**

It is surprising auto-renewal to newer version is not available from the WordPress admin dashboard.

**What problems is StudioPress solving and how is that benefiting you?**

Taking care of themes requirements of all our WordPress sites that most often have a WooCommerce store attached.

  ### 8. Arguably the best theme framework for WordPress

**Rating:** 5.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Derek R. | Website Developer, Small-Business (50 or fewer emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** February 11, 2021

**What do you like best about StudioPress?**

The return on investment for me using StudioPress' Genesis framework has been immeasurable. For a low, one-time cost you get lifetime updates to Genesis, allowing you to focus on developing and support child themes (which takes a fraction of the time compared to creating stand-alone themes). Let WordPress and Genesis do the heavy lifting of functionality while the child theme drives the look and feel. Using their readily-available child themes, I can stand up new sites for clients in a matter of hours. Developing sites from the ground up can often be done in a week or two, start to finish. I've been using the Genesis Framework since it's inception and have built hundreds of sites, and my entire business, on it.

**What do you dislike about StudioPress?**

For the cost, nothing at all. The Genesis framework is regularly maintained (especially now that it's been acquired by WPEngine), has an abundance of developer documentation, and has never given me any trouble. There is also a wealth of information available across the internet for more unique/abstract development support.

**Recommendations to others considering StudioPress:**

I prefer Genesis over the "one-size-fits-all" theme builders (ie. Divi, Elementor, etc.) because there is so much less bloat. When you aren't having to accommodate hundreds of different industries and design ideas, you don't need as much code. Of course, that means the themes may not be as "flashy" as those built on dedicated theme builders, but any developer could add those flashy elements if truly necessary... (but they aren't!).

**What problems is StudioPress solving and how is that benefiting you?**

The biggest benefit for me, and ultimately for my customers, is the ability to create completely custom WordPress websites at affordable rates for small and micro businesses. My customer-base isn't often in a position to spend tens of thousands of dollars on a website, so I'm able to create amazing sites for a fraction of the cost because so much valuable functionality is baked right into Genesis.

  ### 9. Built to Scale | Genesis Framework and Studio Press Themes

**Rating:** 4.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Matthew R. | Founder , Small-Business (50 or fewer emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** June 07, 2021

**What do you like best about StudioPress?**

The Genesis Framework and Studio Press themes are the perfect combination for business owners looking to scale their company. The Genesis Framework is a responsive, mobile-friendly framework built with SEO in mind that will help you rank higher on search engines like Google. Studio Press themes also offer limitless design options so you can customize your site to match any look and feel you want.

**What do you dislike about StudioPress?**

WP Engine, a well-liked but costly hosting solution, acquired Studiopress Themes and the Genesis Framework in 2018.

**Recommendations to others considering StudioPress:**

When you're a business owner, time is money. It's important to focus on your core competencies and not waste your time doing things that someone else can do for you. This is where StudioPress comes in. StudioPress provides quality WordPress themes and plugins so you can spend more time focusing on building your business instead of wasting it managing the technical aspects of running a website. For example, if you want to make sure your site loads fast on all devices, use their Genesis framework, which includes responsive design and mobile optimization out-of-the-box! Perfect optimization scores will require expert technical knowledge of WordPress, SEO, JS, CSS, (ext) but is easily possible, unlike many other themes/frameworks, thanks to the Studiopress/Genesis Team.

**What problems is StudioPress solving and how is that benefiting you?**

Genesis provides the go-to tools to help you create amazing WordPress websites.

• One-Click Child Theme Creation: Genesis is a framework, not just a theme so you can create a new child theme in one click and upgrade themes with one click
• SEO Optimized: Get your Website Ranked Higher on Search Engine Results Pages
• A+ Support: Get a website up and running in no time with highly responsive and technical support team.

  ### 10. Solid themes for fast simple websites

**Rating:** 4.5/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Ioana R. | SEO & Content Strategist, Small-Business (50 or fewer emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** February 04, 2020

**What do you like best about StudioPress?**

I bought the bundle of Genesis themes from StudioPress, which means that I have a theme for almost any kind of site I or my friends and collaborators might need, provided it doesn't require much in the way of design.

**What do you dislike about StudioPress?**

The themes are not very customisable, so websites built with a certain theme will mostly look the same.

**What problems is StudioPress solving and how is that benefiting you?**

I quickly created several decent-looking websites that load fast and have fields for the SEO elements within Genesis, sparing me the trouble of using the Yoast SEO plugin which would seriously slow them down. I made a site displaying the works of a painter, which has so many images that it's really important to have an optimised theme.

  ### 11. StudioPress is amazing!

**Rating:** 5.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Art By L. | Owner, Designer, Artist, Small-Business (50 or fewer emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** January 09, 2019

**What do you like best about StudioPress?**

It's incredibly versatile, the Genesis theme and all the child themes are just so beautiful and easy to use. I can take a base theme and customize how I want.

**What do you dislike about StudioPress?**

There's absolutely NOTHING I dislike!!
DISCLAIMER: I do have about 20 years' experience with HTML and about half that with PHP. But the fact of the matter is that the sites are beautiful out of the 'box' and using the theme customizer, you can make so much happen!

**Recommendations to others considering StudioPress:**

Definitely take a look at the themes, and if you can purchase the WP Engine (hosting) plan so that you get the free themes, do it!

**What problems is StudioPress solving and how is that benefiting you?**

Websites, websites, websites!
It makes quick launching a site super easy and fast. The premium membership was the best thing I ever bought for myself and my clients.
