"Proxy server with cache storage."
What do you like best about Squid?

I like this system because of the ease of use in Windows and Linux, I configure everything from a text file, modify all the instructions and voila, I already have a proxy server installed.

I say the use capacity I need and the IP address with the network workgroup.

In the text file in the configuration you have all possible instructions on the server.

The service starts at system startup.

It is open source and free for everyone. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

What do you dislike about Squid?

I don't like it because it has no graphical interface for the configuration of the services, everything has to be done by instructions in the text file and getting an error is difficult with many instruction lines. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

"Proxy and cache manager, squid is waiting for you"
What do you like best about Squid?

It serves as cache server so concurrent connections to web´s sites will be much faster to the perception of users, because having stored the data that do not change on the web, the proxy does not consult these elements again and delivers to the user what is stored on your hard drive so decreases your consumption of bandwidth to the Internet. Also if what you need is to see which are the sites in which your users browse, you can generate reports and see data such as who downloaded more information, the most visited pages, among others. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

What do you dislike about Squid?

Sometimes it has errors in sites, for example if there is a page where my users need to connect to download a file with personal information, when a second user tries to connect to this site and download a file with similar structure, but with their data, this sometimes brings the information of the first user, becoming a real nuisance to users and service administrators. "Great service"
What do you like best about Squid?

I like the ease of use. Squid Cache is straight forward, with clearly defined terms of use. It's easily navigable and it does not take long to train other employees how to implement the program. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

What do you dislike about Squid?

The only thing I would say I dislike is that the updates to the service can be slow and sometimes developer notes can be challenging to decipher. It takes someone knowledgeable about web proxies to truly understand the implications. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

"Best Proxy Server Ever"
What do you like best about Squid?

Squid allows you to maximize your efficiency in using Internet bandwidth by creating a very flexible configuration of multiple servers and peers that can cache Internet content. It allows for both forward and reverse proxying and also supports multiple authentication mechanisms. Squid also features status pages and log files that make evaluating the effectiveness of the product quite straight-forward. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

What do you dislike about Squid?

Configuration can be a bit daunting, and the configuration file is *long.* The flexibility comes with a price of complexity and time to configure. Debugging the configuration can also be challenging - it can take quite a while to work through the lengthy list of options to figure out what's causing issues and get the right options configured. "Reduce bandwidth with Squid-Cache"
What do you like best about Squid?

The advantages are caching frequently-requested pages to speed up web page load times and also reducing bandwidth by not having to re-request the same page over and over again. It can also be used as a reverse proxy to accelerate web servers by serving up cached content rather than permitting continuous hits to the web server for identical content to multiple clients. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

What do you dislike about Squid?

The application can require a bit of technical knowledge to setup and configure. It requires someone with knowledge with Linux. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

"Squid-Cache - Proxy server for web and more"
What do you like best about Squid?

Squid-Cache worked very well with the Windows network environment where we had it deployed. We were able to configure it in many ways, including blocking of web sites and other resources that we wanted to be protected from. It also stored a log of everywhere that all users visit that could be viewed by reporting software. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

What do you dislike about Squid?

To backup the log the Squid-Cache service would need to be stopped, which would interrupt users' access. To get over this we created a script that ran out of hours. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

"SQUID works as advertised and works well"
What do you like best about Squid?

Running multiple systems behind a server, the duplication of downloaded content is a given. Any reduction that can be obtained is always beneficial both from the cost and perspective and time. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

What do you dislike about Squid?

I found configuration to be somewhat daunting especially if you are not sure what question to ask. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

"Cache Catching"
What do you like best about Squid?

It's simple and easy without being to much trouble - plus the increased server speed! Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

What do you dislike about Squid?

Sometimes the security can be a little to much that we have to find another way to get where we want with requesting access. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.
