## SketchUp Reviews
  ### 1. SketchUp: Designers’ Ultimate "Ideation Engine"

**Rating:** 5.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Jayant G. | Architect, Small-Business (50 or fewer emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** April 28, 2026

**What do you like best about SketchUp?**

It is every designer's go-to 3D software and a digital sketchbook with the most easiest user interface that doesn't require much learning. It remains indispensable to most of the firms of the design industry as it is allows designers very fast iterations, beautiful visualizations and professional grade performance and collaboration. The software is easy to setup and the on boarding process is smooth.

**What do you dislike about SketchUp?**

The major factor is the 'bug splat". Despite its versions and performance have upgraded tremendously over the years, SketchUp is still prone to crashes when models become overly heavy with un-purged components.. Also, complex geometry cannot be easily created without third-party plugins. For a tool that started as free/affordable option, the recurring pro subscription pricing may feel steep for solo practitioners.

**What problems is SketchUp solving and how is that benefiting you?**

It creates a perfect bridge between 2D sketch and ideation and the final resulting 3D render. It can be seamlessly integrated into AutoCAD's workflow, AI's workflow and also as external exports for a cloud based softwares like Coohom.

  ### 2. Intuitive 2D/3D Design with Minor Material Limitations

**Rating:** 5.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Reuben H. | Landscape Designer, Small-Business (50 or fewer emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** July 28, 2023

**What do you like best about SketchUp?**

I use SketchUp for garden architecture and landscape design. I like how SketchUp allows me to work either 2D or 3D very quickly and intuitively. It's a quick, easy, and accurate way to develop a base map to work from. I also like how basically any structural part can be built in SketchUp. The 3D Warehouse is useful many times in building outdoor room models, either to catch a texture or material, or even bring in different components as placeholders. Additionally, transitioning from hand drawing straight into SketchUp was very easy for me, even when it was Google SketchUp 20+ years ago.

**What do you dislike about SketchUp?**

I wish there were more materials within SketchUp's own Material folders. The last few updates have removed some of the textures that used to be in there. Roofing, stone, brick, and some foliage textures.

**What problems is SketchUp solving and how is that benefiting you?**

I find SketchUp a quick, easy, and accurate way to create base maps and build garden architecture for illustrations or construction. It's intuitive for both 2D and 3D work, and the 3D Warehouse helps with textures and components.

  ### 3. Agile and Efficient Use for 3D Modeling

**Rating:** 5.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** carlos l. | Administrador, Small-Business (50 or fewer emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** March 10, 2026

**What do you like best about SketchUp?**

I like the ease of use and the large number of 3D objects it has in its 3D Warehouse libraries, which saves me a lot of time in project settings. Also, the application of finishes on surfaces is very easy, making changes very quick and allowing me to generate realistic settings for projects. Additionally, the initial setup of SketchUp was very easy.

**What do you dislike about SketchUp?**

The documentation of plans, the workflow of sending views to layout is something that takes time to make changes.

**What problems is SketchUp solving and how is that benefiting you?**

SketchUp solves the 3D representation for me quickly, I like its ease of use and the extensive 3dwarehouse library, which saves me time. I can make quick changes and generate realistic settings in my projects.

  ### 4. Intuitive and Fast 3D Modeling for Effortless Concept Design

**Rating:** 5.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Designers S. | Architect, Small-Business (50 or fewer emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** November 26, 2025

**What do you like best about SketchUp?**

The fact that SketchUp is very intuitive and quick to use is still the main reason why I love it. It is a very simple program, but you still can create clear 3D models without going through a long learning process. The interface is light but it gives a feeling of total control, and then tools like push/pull or easy component management among others, support to quickly modifying design. It is the best tool especially for fast architectural concepts to get your ideas, the large 3D Warehouse library is a great time-saver. Though it is not the most powerful software when it comes to detailed rendering, it is still the fastest, easiest, and most user-friendly solution for transforming your concepts into a tidy 3D space.

**What do you dislike about SketchUp?**

SketchUp is frustrating to me due to the fact that it limits a user when most projects become more sophisticated, especially in areas such as high-detail modeling or advanced rendering. If the file is heavy, performance will definitely decline and for the features that are considered to be very important like powerful rendering, advanced modeling tools, and better material management—most of them already be paid plugins or third-party extensions. The ease of use is a plus for newcomers to 3D modeling, but it can eventually turn out to be a constraint for projects that are meant for professional quality.

**What problems is SketchUp solving and how is that benefiting you?**

SketchUp has the ability to rapidly transform the initial design concepts into precise, correlative 3D images, thus eliminating the need for proficiency in CAD or a complex process. It is a great tool for brainstorming ideas, experimenting with scales, and communicating designs to clients or partners in a much quicker manner than the traditional drafting process. Being very user-friendly, I am able to iterate fast, have several options and spot problems early in the design timeline. Thus, I can save time, minimize the number of times I have to do the same thing over again, and get from the idea stage to the presentation stage with very little resistance.

  ### 5. Easy to use modeling software

**Rating:** 4.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Mark H. | Estimator/PM, Small-Business (50 or fewer emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** March 08, 2023

**What do you like best about SketchUp?**

Sketchup is a very intuitive software program. Its easy to use and is very helpful for modeling multiple things.

**What do you dislike about SketchUp?**

While Sketchup is intuitive to use, to use it successfully the workshop/ training is imperative to watch. They cover a lot of info in those videos that wouldn't otherwise be assumed. So it's a bit difficult to be able to jump right in with the expectation of immediately doing accurate modeling

**What problems is SketchUp solving and how is that benefiting you?**

Sketchup is a great tools for custom home building , we could draw up bathrooms or areas of tile so clients could get a good visual of what thing would look like prior to pulling the trigger. It also really helps with take-offs too to make sure alignment of tile and enough waste is ordered to make sure the job was done successfully the first time.
