One can easily track several projects across different functions and departments. Additionally, it provides dashboard capabilities whoch can be used to derive meaningful insights. **What do you dislike about Shortcut?** It doesn't allow to tag stories with decimal estimate points for example 0.5. This often makes it difficult to scope for adhoc and low priority work. **Recommendations to others considering Shortcut:** Highly recommend giving Clubhouse a try as it's a single-point solution for addressing issues around project management, agile, and sprints. Provides a whole bunch of exquisite features that help in increase operational efficiencies for your organization. **What problems is Shortcut solving and how is that benefiting you?** Our entire suite of projects is managed and tracked on Shortcut as it's our go-to tool for Project Management. Previously tracking status for data science projects was proving to be challenging considering the humungous amount of rework and adhoc requests from clients. This issue was resolved within Shortcut by making use of their third party integrations. One of the most valuable features is integration with Github, as it allows developers to integrate and manage their stories directly with their feature branches. You can also have logs and messages triggered to your slack channel for every deployment model run through the slack integration capability. ### 4. You're not committed to light or dark UI. It can be swapped depending on what you prefer. **What do you dislike about Shortcut?** While a great tool that I recommend, it's not without its faults - would be nice if tickets were draggable within the swim lanes of my own home overview page. would be nice if there was a deselect all option on the filters for our projects and teams. We have so many checkboxes of categories that to uncheck all 20+ only to view 1 or 2 checked at a time is truly arduous. **What problems is Shortcut solving and how is that benefiting you?** Transparency across teams! ### 7. With Jira, I would frequently get lost in the options available, and sometimes my progress would get lost with a page reload or as I moved in and out of internet coverage. Shortcut gives me only the options I need and is much more responsive, saving my progress automatically. I know Shortcut intimately, whereas Jira was always a black box, even though I've only been using Shortcut for about a third the time I used Jira. **What do you dislike about Shortcut?** I wish Shortcut had an app for my phone. It works surprisingly well through my phone's web browser, but a dedicated app would be better. I also wish Shortcut had a rich text editor, as I'm less familiar with markdown and doing things like making numbered lists is annoying. **Recommendations to others considering Shortcut:** It's good! Hard to say what I like best. I prefer Jira for several reasons and feel I am constantly comparing. It is ok to show a roadmap view and once you figure it out, you can navigate based on a hierarchy of Tasks -> Stories -> Epics -> Milestones. That is beneficial for planning and running sprints and stand up with the teams. I do like how when you have all your stories pointed out, the way it shows progress for the epic in the roadmap view. **What do you dislike about Shortcut?** The Roadmap is there, but it needs visibility improvements. You need to be able to close an epic in a milestone and have it disappear. You shouldn't have to have a date range to have the epics show up in the milestones. I end up putting arbitrary numbers just to make epic visibile. Also, we need the ability to color-code the roadmap. All of it is monochrome except for the green progress. We need a way to visualize better based on teams or something to make the roadmap more visible. It reads like a Gantt chart which is fine but could use some help. I don't like the lack of dragability in an epic between in progress, complete, etc. You have to open the story or select several stories and then move them. Would be nice to just be able to drag between backlog and up next without having to make so many clicks. The system is slow. We have never been able to resolve that. We have funny icons to show "Please be patient". We've come to accept it is just a slow system. **Recommendations to others considering Shortcut:** Take time to learn how to sort and organize. It will do what it needs, but just isn't easy at first. **What problems is Shortcut solving and how is that benefiting you?** I am using Shortcut to record my team's goals and progress. It has helped me to run my team in an agile method which is what is beneficial. We can run standups, sort by team members, and overall use Shortcut to manage our daily work. ### 10. I came from Jira and had no problems with the UI or any features. There are also some cool convenience features, like being able to drag and drop tickets from one lane to another. **What do you dislike about Shortcut?** There was a short time when I would have a draft saved on a ticket cause that ticket to not load. Or, if it did, it would take upwards of 10 minutes. A cool feature my company and myself would like to see is the implementation of a UAT-like feature for tickets. We create separate documentation for UAT items, but if this could be build in to Shortcut, it would be all the rave. **Recommendations to others considering Shortcut:** Take advantage of the discovery aspect it provides within your company **What problems is Shortcut solving and how is that benefiting you?** This is hard for me to answer, since I am on the lower end of the company ladder. It is hard to prioritize at this level as a product owner and see what stories are tied to each parent epic. Jira does this well and Shortcut seems to lack this view. I love the UX, the ability to segment work by projects, and using the kanban style board to project manage my tasks and team. The pricing is very reasonable for the product's capabilities, not to mention the invaluable benefit of the analytics/reporting tool. The ability to track and measure tasks allows an organization to see where resources are being allocated and to identify areas where potential loss may occur (i.e. (ad-hoc requests that take away from primary goals). Shortcut provides visibility into team management and helps to inform all members of the team - from the do-ers to the decision makers. **What do you dislike about Shortcut?** I wish more reporting features were available with the free version. **What problems is Shortcut solving and how is that benefiting you?** None, really. The updates have been straightforward, just a simple refresh, and we are back to work. ### 15. I also find shortcuts to provide interactions that support better collaboration within a team, for example, you can assign two owners to one ticket—allowing people to pair on work easily. **What do you dislike about Shortcut?** Although most things about shortcuts are great, I find lacking in the ability to create drafts for tickets. Often the page will reload, and i will loose a draft i had written. **What problems is Shortcut solving and how is that benefiting you?** We are trying to solve product prioritization with shortcut. It's nice to have multiple flows to put tickets and epics through. It's still far from the perfect process but being able to quickly come up with no flows allows for rapid process improvement. ### 16. I also like the integrations, e.g. with slack. **What do you dislike about Shortcut?** I wouldn't say I like that it shows up closed epics or archived teams in the ticket dropdown; this is an easy point for failure. Also we rely on the api and even years after shortcut released iterations this field is still not available thru the api. We do need custom fields but I see it at the roadmap and I am excited about it. **Recommendations to others considering Shortcut:** Integrate it with as much as you can. **What problems is Shortcut solving and how is that benefiting you?** The biggest realized benefits are that engineers can use tickets independently of program/product managers or operational roles chiming in. It's interface is similar to others (like Jira). It can be hard to navigate without a good project manager, but unique project/task naming helps because then you can use the search function to find what you're looking for. **What do you dislike about Shortcut?** Slow load times and sometimes the search function completely not working really keep this program from being the best it could be. Usually refreshing the page fixes any problem, but it's still a little buggy. **What problems is Shortcut solving and how is that benefiting you?** We're creating an online insurance buying experience, and one of my favorite features is Shortcut's ability to become an archive of what we've done, why we did it, and the parts that went into it (research, design, software considerations, etc.). ### 20. I also like the keyboard shortcuts. **What do you dislike about Shortcut?** The performance of the web app has definitely gotten worse since I started using shortcut a few years ago -- it used to be noticeably snappier than everything else I used, and now I would say it's just average. I also find the sorting/filtering/searching functionality pretty limited -- I'd love to just be able to write SQL! **What problems is Shortcut solving and how is that benefiting you?** Keeping track of work for a small team (6 people). Helps us plan for what can get done (using "Iterations"/sprints) and make sure things don't fall through the cracks. ### 21. It is very easy to understand the interface. Everything from creating epics and stories, to collaborating with teammates to complete sprints. Now that we are working remotely, it is important for us to be able to notify each other and collaborate seamlessly. This is especially true because we are all working in different time zones. Overall, all of our teams are very happy to be using Clubhouse. **What do you dislike about Shortcut?** There really are not many dislikes I can think of off the top of my head. I was not actually part of the onboarding and setup of Clubhouse, so I do not have firsthand experience with it, but from what I heard was that there was a little bit of manual work to get it up and running. However, once our team had everything set up, the value was quite obvious and our product and development team were loving it. **Recommendations to others considering Shortcut:** I would make sure to have an idea of your roadmap or projects you want to get started tracking in Clubhouse before purchasing. I would also be sure to make sure teammates in different departments understand how to use the platform to some extent, even if it is sales or support so they can better check on features and bug reports. **What problems is Shortcut solving and how is that benefiting you?** We needed a platform to keep track of our reported bugs, requested features, and planned projects. It also needed to be able to help us collaborate easily, while being intuitive for new users to grasp, as our teams were, and still are, rapidly growing. Also, they are releasing new features quickly, which is a huge plus! **What do you dislike about Shortcut?** I don't particularly appreciate how tasks on stories do not get their own number, and you cannot add a description or any reproducible steps. We use that feature to track feedback that needs to be fixed on stories, so I will have to slack the developers the steps to reproduce if it isn't apparent. It is very easy to find the stories ''requested by me'' and you can have a clear picture of what state each request is at. **What do you dislike about Shortcut?** What I was having a hard time at first, was the text formatting, like bolding or italicizing the text, also adding numbers or bullet points. Clubhouse already has multiple visualizations (iterations, epics, stories), the filter layer adds unnecessary confusion regarding the squad and tribe workflows. Besides, it's hard to organize your to-dos, many non-related to particular squads, inside the platform. We usually need to understand squads inside a team, inside a tribe, and our tasks—all aggregated inside one view.
