"RubyMine Review"

What do you like best about RubyMine?

The best thing I like it the code optimization that RubyMine performs on the code. Coming from a non-ruby background, I am not use to Ruby style of coding. Especially the use of clauses like unless, if conditions. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

What do you dislike about RubyMine?

Rubymine does not seem as powerful as other Jetbrain IDE's like PyCharm or IntelliJ. Some of the areas where there can be improvements are jumping from one part of the code to other parts using a keyboard shortcut. Recommendations to others considering RubyMine:

If you are beginning with Ruby I would suggest stay away from RubyMine for a while and do things manually. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

What problems is RubyMine solving and how is that benefiting you?

I use it for completing my university assignments. It saved me a lot of time while debugging as the Rubymine has a powerful debugger allowing me to go line by line and looking at the value of every variable. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

What do you like best about RubyMine?

What I like most about this program are the flexible configuration options, as well as switching to the declaration of methods and variables. It supports GIT and is very flexible when running tests, it also provides code assistance, safe refactoring options, and support for JS. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

What do you dislike about RubyMine?

It tends to use a lot of RAM and sometimes is a bit slow. It can become a bit confusing if you are not familiar with this program. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

"Have been using for 6 years"

What do you like best about RubyMine?

For ruby automation frameworks this is my favorite IDE. It is super easy to configure where you can check in code via the Rubymine VCS menu or console. Love the package installs available too Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

What do you like best about RubyMine?

Similarity and compatibility with other IDEs (like PyCharm, Eclipse etc) - hence easiness to switch between platforms and languages. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

Slow in Windows 7, when loading, many updates run in the background, and it's not clearly indicated what the updates are and how long it'll take.

What do you like best about RubyMine?

RubyMine is an excellent IDE for Ruby on Rails developers, the shortcuts are excellent, you can connect your database and build your projects locally, its autocomplete is very useful. It also has a large number of plugins and has a modern design. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

What do you dislike about RubyMine?

Very rarely does the program freeze, and I have to close it and reopen it, but well, no program is perfect. Putting that aside, I haven't found any more drawbacks. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.
