Not a right fit for us. **Rating:** 1.0/5.0 stars **Reviewed by:** Verified User in Law Practice | Small-Business (50 or fewer emp.) **Reviewed Date:** May 12, 2022 **What do you like best about Rocket Matter?** The Chat support is always well-intentioned but they honestly don't have most of my answers. **What do you dislike about Rocket Matter?** The report data is not always accurate, report names are ludicrous, dashboards load incredibly slow, language inconsistencies in reporting, timers overcompensate, and inability to edit payment info after an invoice has been generated or another payment has been posted. You should be able to go in and edit some of the descriptions but you can't. We can easily all bill to cases; eliminating the need for a billing clerk. While it took me a while to get used to; our client's contact information is readily available, as is anyone else who is involved in a certain case. Our previous "business manager" never taught me anything about RM, and I really struggled to learn it by myself. Surprisingly, after the "business manager" was fired, our receptionist learned and revealed to me that we have a client portal that we can utilize, thus cutting down on reminders, telephone calls and status update letters. Mother of Gawd! I do get a ton of emails from RM wanting me to learn this or that - but honestly - I'm a lowly paralegal whose fingers are on the keys from 8:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. just drafting pleadings. I love the ease of editing billings or entries into RM. Very quickly done. Also, I truly appreciate the fact that the timer keeps running on RM, even if you've been kicked off the internet. So many times I've almost lost my shit because the power went out and I figured that the last six hours were unaccounted for. Not true for RM. Even if you have to restart your computer - Rocket Matter keep track of your billed time. **What do you dislike about Rocket Matter?** We have always had a problem with "tagging" people with events or tasks - it does not work at all. If I have to enter something on the task list or event that both the lawyer and paralegal need to know about, I end up having to create two entries - One for the responsible attorney and one for his or her paralegal. Why is there a box to let you "tag" someone, when it doesn't do anything? **Recommendations to others considering Rocket Matter:** I have to go home for supper now. It's after 5:00 pm. **What problems is Rocket Matter solving and how is that benefiting you?** I used to create a document for every case titled "addresses" where I would put the name, and all contact information for our client, the opposing party, the court we file pleadings at, etc. on. Just a one or two page word document that I could print envelopes or labels from. While I don't know if I can generate labels or envelopes from RM, I know that all of the information we need it in RM. ### 3. The support staff is great. **What do you dislike about Rocket Matter?** The program is not particularly sophisticated. Many of the features appear only half done or are not user friendly. Time calendaring is an example. You can't simply enter 1:00 pm as the start date as the boxes are pre-filled in. You must delete and add in time. Other features don't always work such as the Iphone app which seems to stall out or not work at least 50% of the time. Overall, the look, feel and approach to the program is very dated. The automated document preparation is essentially useless and all can be done better in Word. **Recommendations to others considering Rocket Matter:** Look carefully at the program before signing up. This program is more practice specific so make certain it does wha tyou need. **What problems is Rocket Matter solving and how is that benefiting you?** Time keeping is much easier given the formatting. The timers are useful for tracking the actual amount of time spent on any given task or project. Integration with RocketPay makes invoicing and collections more streamlined as a majority of clients prefer the ability to pay with credit card are ECH. Plus, it automates tracking payments when RocketPay is used which reduces the amount of unbillable administrative time. **What do you dislike about Rocket Matter?** Some of the interfacing with dropbox and similar is not as seamless as it could be. It would be great if from within Rocketmatter access to said files worked just like windows file explorer. The ability to add and navigate the files from within Rocketmatter is not as easy and obvious. That said, I have not really focused on fully integrating files within Rocketmatter because of this functionality. It may just be my personal preference. Also, I have not taken the time to figure out how to create "automated" documents such as hearing notices, notices of appearance, etc. because the process is not as user-friendly as I would personally prefer. In summary, my "dislike" of it has to do more with the setup required to take advantage of certain features so it would be nice to have a starting template to work from to facilitate the process. I do everything myself and it is hard to find the time to do the setup required. **What problems is Rocket Matter solving and how is that benefiting you?** I would say that keeping track of invoices and trust accounting is a big benefit. Easy to set up matters and keep track of things regarding various cases and where things stand. ### 6. Also, the "primary" person calendared on an event is the only one who can have that event show up on their Outlook calendar which is a major pain in the ass. I do wish there was a portal feature for client documents, etc. If there is one, I haven't figured it out. ### 8.
