"User-Friendly, Cost-Effective Accounting Solution"
5/5
What do you like best about QuickBooks Free?

I like using Intuit QuickBooks for bookkeeping, financials, and payroll because its reconciliation feature ensures all transactions are recorded. It provides easy financial comparisons, allowing me to identify any abnormal items. The navigation is easy, and I can sort data effortlessly. The cash flow options help in assessing the company's financial state to determine if improvements are necessary. Its user-friendliness stands out, especially with syncing bank feeds to end outputs. I find the report layouts and transaction searches valuable for comparing data. QuickBooks is also more affordable than other software, making it the choice for most of our clients. Switching to QuickBooks was straightforward, and the setup process was simple, with easy data syncing from other software. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

What do you dislike about QuickBooks Free?

I find that sometimes the syncing of bank data stops and duplicates transactions, which creates problems when I am setting up the books. Also, in payroll, QuickBooks records transactions automatically without giving me permission to edit them, and I have to contact support to make changes. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

"Absurdly incompetent support, broken processes, and complete refusal to take accountability"

It's widely accepted and used by CPAs so I don't have to convert files. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

What do you dislike about QuickBooks Free?

Absurdly incompetent support, broken processes, and complete refusal to take accountability

Intuit QuickBooks Online likes to market itself as a lifeline for small business owners, but my recent experience proved it is an operational hazard.

After forcing a migration to their automated tax system, QuickBooks completely failed to remit my Michigan Unemployment Insurance (MIUI) payment. What followed was hands-down the worst customer service experience I have encountered in a long time. Over multiple maddening interactions, Intuit took zero responsibility for their failure. Instead, they hid behind bureaucratic nonsense, endlessly repeating that this was simply "their process."

Their representatives repeatedly blamed the State of Michigan and claimed I was responsible for the mess. They insisted they have no control over state processing times and claimed it takes "weeks" for Michigan to apply payments. That was a complete lie. The State of Michigan’s unemployment services have been exemplary, and once QuickBooks finally got off their rear ends and actually processed the payment, the state had it posted within HOURS.

Their internal protocol is actively destructive to small businesses. QuickBooks’ support told me their official "process" required me to let my state account go delinquent just so Michigan would issue a penalty letter that I could then upload to their portal. One simple, competent phone call from their team would have resolved the entire issue the day it was identified. Instead, they wasted hours of my time and burned through their own resources through sheer inertia.

To make matters worse, QuickBooks hides behind an anonymous support system where representatives refuse to provide direct contact information or case ownership. They are quite literally embarrassed to stand behind their work or help the small business owners who keep them in business.

Before being forced onto this platform, I handled my payroll taxes manually without a single issue or missed deadline. QuickBooks didn't simplify my operations—they created an unmitigated mess and then tried to gaslight me about it. Avoid their payroll tax service at all costs. "QBO Customer Support non existent"
0/5
What do you like best about QuickBooks Free?

It was easy to stand up but ultimately customer service is the biggest downfall of QBO. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

What do you dislike about QuickBooks Free?

Terrible customer service - AI and offshore non-experts is what you should expect to be supported with. They have multiple times screwed up payroll for internal issues and they don't care if people get paid late. They do not care about customer experience. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

"Streamlined Financial Management with Compatibility Challenges"
4/5
What do you like best about QuickBooks Free?

The platform has a clean, easy-to-navigate layout that our team picked up fast. Its cost tracking features work well for our manufacturing operations, letting us tie every expense directly to specific production orders. The native data security controls also help us adhere to GDPR, and pulling up routine financial reports takes just moments, cutting down our daily accounting workload significantly. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

What do you dislike about QuickBooks Free?

It cannot connect seamlessly with our on-premises production ERP, forcing us to re-enter data repeatedly. It also lacks sophisticated tools for detailed manufacturing cost distribution. Custom reports fail to align fully with German DIN industrial standards, and the system runs sluggishly when processing large batches of supplier invoices. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.
