What do you like best about Redzone?
Our facility recently completed the 90-day launch of Redzone Compliance Module and really appreciates what the module brings to the TEAm. The top few items that the Redzone Compliance Module improved at our facility are (1) visibility on missed and failed quality checks in real time, (2) reduction of paper waste, (3) ease in pulling data for audits, and (4) coaching for the first 90 days of launch which ensures effective use of the tool.
Before the Redzone Compliance module, we had many checks being completed by technicians on the floor every 15 minutes. Since all these checks were on paper, the only way a supervisor or a member of the quality TEAm would know if a check was missed or failed was if they were told by the technician or they walked out to the line and reviewed all the paper checks which is time consuming. In Redzone Compliance module, you can setup alerts or actions to different groups of people (e.g. supervisors, quality) when a check is missed or failed in real time which leads to more timely and effective solutions.
During the launch, we discovered that pulling the data from completed checks is significantly more efficient than pulling data from paper in an audit. We performed two mock audits during our first 90 days and found that all the data could be pulled within a few minutes in the system rather than having to dig for the right paper check to show an auditor.
The Redzone Compliance Module is able to hold complicated checks and trigger checks in a variety of ways. Since we already had the Redzone Productivity Module, we were able to not only trigger checks based on a specific date and time, but also when a specific downtime code is entered or run uptime.
The most important resource that Redzone offers to promote a successful Redzone Module launch is having a dedicated coach to assist with implementation of the module for the first 90 days. Our coach, Zach Thompson, met with a small TEAm onsite for four weeks leading up to the launch week to train us on how to enter checks in Redzone. During launch week, Zach trained all production and quality associates on how to complete a check, actively addressed issues we were having with the new checks, and trained the quality TEAm on how to pull the data from Redzone for auditing purposes. In later weeks, he created countless checks in the module, trained all departments onsite on how to complete a check, and went through the validation process with the Quality TEAm, clearly communicating what SOPs and other requirements that needed to be done to meet 21 CFR Part 11 requirements, often having templates associated with all documents we needed. This greatly reduced the time for the site to go paperless which was accomplished in 45 days after initial launch. Due to the preparation the site did upfront plus the coaching provided by Redzone, we were able to create 90%+ of the checks we intend to transition to Redzone within the first 90 days. This greatly reduces the resource commitment from the site after launch. I highly recommend the Redzone Compliance Module to any site that would like to have a more effective and visible quality system with significant launch support.
