Proteus Design Suite Reviews & Product Details

Proteus Design Suite is a professional electronic design automation tool from Labcenter Electronics, designed and developed in the UK for over 35 years. It provides schematic capture, shape-based PCB layout with autorouting, and Gerber X2 / ODB++ manufacturing output in a single integrated environment, covering the full mainstream professional design flow from concept to production. Proteus is uniquely positioned in the market by combining traditional PCB design with world-class embedded simulation. Its Virtual System Modelling (VSM) technology allows engineers to simulate microcontroller firmware running on a virtual board alongside surrounding analogue and digital electronics, supporting over 800 microcontroller variants across Arduino, PIC, AVR, ARM Cortex-M, STM32, and Raspberry Pi families. Mixed-mode SPICE simulation, interactive measurement instruments, and peripheral models (LCDs, sensors, motors, communications buses including CAN, SPI, I²C and USB) let designers validate hardware and firmware together before committing to fabrication. Sold under a perpetual licence model, Proteus offers a transparent and predictable cost of ownership without subscription lock-in or cloud dependencies. Scalable product levels suit independent engineers, design consultancies, manufacturers, and higher education institutions, with full data ownership retained locally on the user's machine. Backed by direct technical support from the UK development team and international distribution network, it is used by thousands of professional engineers and educators worldwide for embedded product development, electronics teaching, and mainstream commercial PCB design.
