Proofpoint is best in class at doing what is designed to do: prevent spam and other email-based threats from reaching end-user inboxes. I most like the customization available in the product for filtering and targeting particular users, especially the policy routes feature and disposition options within the different protection modules. Custom support has always been very responsive and informative and help make the product easier to manage and integrate into our environment. The user interface could use some work, especially when working with an on-premises clustered environment where there are multiple nodes that you could be making changes on. While it often offers to choose where to apply your settings when they could differ from node to node, the interface could use more progress indicators to indicate when it is switching over to another node or when it has fully switched over. Otherwise you have to pay close attention to the interface to know when it does refresh. I also think the interface itself can be a bit confusing and some features aren't intuitive to find, such as the dropdown arrows showing additional search fields or other features took me a long time to realize they were there and hiding other options. We have been a Proofpoint customer for 7 years having moved from Symantec e-mail protection. We have seen this product create a massive reduction in the malicious e-mail reaching our end users. The product has evolved and Proofpoint continue to add new functionality all the time. The only negative we had from the past was the Proofpoint account managers. The product has a number of integrations with its entire platform. The product also has a number of different reporting mechanisms on the integrations that it has. They are incredibly quick to respond to any security alerts, and offer simple to use tools to remedy any perceived threats as quickly as possible. The alerts, while helpful, can be somewhat aggressive. If a malicious message is discovered in our system and sent to multiple users, it will send an alert for every user. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

Highly customizable email security program. Combines many facets of email security and allows you to create routes and policies to protect your end users. The support we receive when we have questions is excellent. Can quickly determine why an email didn't get delivered, view all of the applicable information about the email, and determine if you want it delivered or not. ProofPoint does an excellent job of blocking and filtering threats, spam and bulk email without over blocking. The reporting is great and it is easy to search the logs for delivery problems. One of my favorite features though is the TRAP/CLEAR functionality. Users can submit suspect emails for analysis and any email deemed threatening will automatically be quarantined across the entire Exchange environment. In addition, email retrospectively deemed threatening will also be auto quarantined from all user mailboxes across the environment. My one chief complaint is that the management portals for the various components are separated and not under a single UI. It would be super handy if all of the configuration, analysis, and reporting were under a single UI. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.
