What is Proofpoint Core Email Protection, and what problem is it built to solve?

It is an email security gateway used to filter incoming and outgoing email and help protect organizations from spam, phishing, malware, and other email-borne threats. Teams also use it to review suspicious messages and manage email security policies.

What languages does Proofpoint Core Email Protection support?

It supports 32 languages, including English, French, German, Spanish, Arabic, and others.

What company sizes and industries is Proofpoint Core Email Protection the best fit for?

Positive experiences are most concentrated in enterprise and mid-market organizations, with financial services, manufacturing, and retail among the most represented industries. Higher education and healthcare also appear as established use cases.
  • Enterprise: The most prominent company-size segment in positive experiences.
  • Mid-market: Also strongly represented among positive experiences.
  • Financial services: A particularly visible industry segment.
  • Manufacturing: Frequently represented in positive experiences.
  • Retail: Another prominent industry segment.
  • Higher education and healthcare: Both have a meaningful presence.

How long does it take to implement Proofpoint Core Email Protection across a team?

Implementation ranges from a quick initial rollout to projects that take several months, with one to three months the most common reported timeframe. These ranges can help set expectations, though configuration needs and environment complexity will affect an individual deployment.
Time to go live Relative frequency
1–3 months Most common
Under 1 month Also frequently reported
3–6 months Reported for some deployments
6–12 months Less commonly reported

What customer support options does Proofpoint Core Email Protection provide, and how do users find the overall support experience?

Support is available through chat, email/help desk, and phone, including 24/7 live-rep support. The experience is often described as knowledgeable and helpful, particularly during setup and troubleshooting, though response times can be uneven and some tickets take longer to resolve.

What features or capabilities could make Proofpoint Core Email Protection even more useful?

The clearest opportunities to make the product more useful are simplifying administration and giving teams more control over policy behavior. Improvements users would value include:
  • Unify administration: Bring functions and settings together in a more consistent console so teams spend less time moving between portals.
  • Make navigation and search clearer: Help administrators find settings, messages, and investigation details more quickly.
  • Expand policy and rule flexibility: Add finer-grained controls and customization for complex rules, modules, and attachment handling.
  • Improve reporting and investigation context: Make false positives and false negatives easier to report and explain, with clearer details for threat analysis.

Is Proofpoint Core Email Protection considered safe and secure for handling data?

Users describe it as a strong layer of protection against spam, phishing, business email compromise, malware, and suspicious links or attachments, often stopping threats before they reach inboxes. Quarantine and follow-up remediation help teams investigate or remove messages that need attention. It is not a guarantee that every threat will be caught: users also encounter occasional false positives and, at times, malicious messages that get through, so monitoring and tuning remain important.

"Essential Email Protection That Blocks Threats Before They Reach Users"
5/5
What do you like best about Proofpoint Core Email Protection?

It is a comprehensive platform that protects not just emails but people. This product is essential to our day-to-day operations because it blocks malicious emails and links before they are delivered to the intended recipient. The quarantine feature and the TAP feature, which gives the analysts the ability to retrieve emails from the user's mailbox, is basically a life saver when it comes to protecting end users from malicious attacks. What do you dislike about Proofpoint Core Email Protection?

The PoD looks very "old-fashioned" compared to the cloud GUI, but its capabilities are extraordinary. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

"Effective Daily Protection Against Most Email Bourne Threats"
5/5
What do you like best about Proofpoint Core Email Protection?

We use it on a day to day basis the tool is effective at preventing most email threats, there are just a few limitations I would like tweaked. Like attachment field being evaluated as one instead of on an individual attachment basis Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

What do you dislike about Proofpoint Core Email Protection?

Main issue is with the evaluation logic in the attachment field, all attachments are treated as one leading to false positives and potentially DLP incidents if one attachment satisfies a DLP rule all other files can be sent out. Not ideal Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

"Core Email Protection: Single-Pane Metrics That Cut Tooling and Training Costs"
5/5
What do you like best about Proofpoint Core Email Protection?

Core Email Protection gives analysts and managers tools and metrics in a single pane of glass that otherwise requires multiple products, disciplines and training. This significantly cuts down expenses in multiple disparate security tools and training. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

What do you dislike about Proofpoint Core Email Protection?

Currently there is not a simple and effective method to report false positive/false negative results. Neither is there a good process to correct those results and future occurrences. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.
