## Prolific Reviews
  ### 1. Easy Targeted Research with a Large Pool of Trusted, Insightful Participants

**Rating:** 5.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Michael M. | Project Management Specialist, Small-Business (50 or fewer emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** February 02, 2026

**What do you like best about Prolific?**

I love that prolific allows you to run research studies and define your target participant. Prolific has a large pool of trusted participants that are not there.Just to make money, they're there to give a valued opinion.

**What do you dislike about Prolific?**

Their support can be slow to respond at times, but when they do get back to you, they’re thorough and take the time to help.

**What problems is Prolific solving and how is that benefiting you?**

When a company needs to understand how users might view something, or what their opinions are about a product or service, we can use Prolific to run research studies. With it, we can decide how many participants we want for each study and set the budget accordingly.

  ### 2. User-Friendly with Room for Improvement

**Rating:** 5.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Annie B.

**Reviewed Date:** January 05, 2026

**What do you like best about Prolific?**

I like that the learning curve for Prolific isn't super steep. Although I needed some time to learn the platform, almost every question I had was already answered in the help center, which I find very thorough. The help center does a great job of compiling all the questions a newbie would have and organizes them into sections that make sense, answering each question simply and completely. Also, the initial setup of Prolific was pretty easy.

**What do you dislike about Prolific?**

I feel like, when choosing participant screeners, the options to select are oddly specific for certain demographics. I wanted to sort my participants by careers, but the options were so strange and often didn't include what I wanted. The screener options could be improved, particularly in the 'work' category. They are oddly specific, but not vast enough. I would like to see more options for careers for people who work with children OUTSIDE of school. It is a large demographic (sports, after school programs, summer camps, libraries, etc), but none of those options are represented in Prolific!

**What problems is Prolific solving and how is that benefiting you?**

Prolific's help center is thorough and organizes newbie questions into logical sections, answering them simply and completely. However, the screener options are too specific and don’t cover all desired demographics, like careers working with kids outside of school.

  ### 3. Connects You with Researchers for Extra Cash

**Rating:** 5.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Kathleen K. | Organizer of FMVeg, Small-Business (50 or fewer emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** September 07, 2023

**What do you like best about Prolific?**

I like that Prolific connects me with those doing academic research, and I get paid for each gig. It helps me feel useful and make a little money for each study. I've been confident in using it after getting past the initial learning curve, and I've recommended Prolific to many.

**What do you dislike about Prolific?**

There are some studies which don't pay enough for me to even bother. There is a learning curve, and I was nervous at first.

**What problems is Prolific solving and how is that benefiting you?**

Prolific connects me with academic researchers and pays me money, helping me feel useful and making extra cash for each study.

  ### 4. User-Friendly with Stellar Support

**Rating:** 5.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Vanessa W. | Affiliate marketer, Marketing and Advertising, Small-Business (50 or fewer emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** November 23, 2025

**What do you like best about Prolific?**

I use Prolific as a survey and study platform that pays, and I find several aspects of it particularly beneficial. I genuinely appreciate Prolific's top-tier customer service. They respond quickly to any issues, especially if there's a problem with missing payments for tasks, and they are always ready to resolve it effectively. I love that on some projects you get paid instantly, which is a fantastic feature. The website itself is simple and easy to navigate, making the user experience smooth and enjoyable. I am impressed by how the surveys and studies are laid out. The selection gear that allows me to choose preferences, such as if I use a mic, webcam, audio, tablet, mobile, or desktop, is particularly useful; it helps in deciding which surveys I am eligible for by clearly stating the requirements upfront. Furthermore, the initial setup of Prolific was easy, which enhanced my overall experience, and I am so satisfied with the platform that I would highly recommend it to friends or colleagues, rating it a 10 out of 10.

**What do you dislike about Prolific?**

I dislike how some tasks on Prolific don't include the necessary requirements upfront, which can be confusing. Additionally, there's a significant issue with account bans. Accounts can get banned erroneously, with reasons like the supposed use of a VPN when no VPN was used, as happened with my husband's account. This ban restricts us from participating in specific studies like couple surveys, and the fact that they won't restore the account is frustrating.

**What problems is Prolific solving and how is that benefiting you?**

I find Prolific offers excellent customer service, quick payments, and clear survey requirements, enhancing my experience with their platform.

  ### 5. Earn Extra Income, Hassle-Free with Prolific

**Rating:** 4.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Blessing A. | Senior Administrative Associate, Mid-Market (51-1000 emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** October 27, 2025

**What do you like best about Prolific?**

I appreciate how Prolific offers a flexible way for me to make extra income without the need to work long hours, as I can choose when to engage with the platform according to my schedule. It provides a convenient platform for accessing surveys from various organizations, which allows me to earn money by giving my honest opinions. I find that the integration with PayPal makes it easy to withdraw my earnings at any time, which adds to the convenience. I also value the 'About You' feature, where I provide details about myself, as it helps tailor the surveys to me and has even made me more self-aware of my consuming habits and social behaviors. I find this process highly rewarding and insightful. Furthermore, the 'Studies' feature, where studies are sent to me for feedback, is another beneficial aspect as it allows me to contribute my insights to help organizations with product or service improvements, making it a fulfilling experience. Overall, these features make Prolific a stress-free and efficient platform for supplementary income, and I always consider it a reliable option for income without investing a lot of time.

**What do you dislike about Prolific?**

The setup process for Prolific was neither easy nor straightforward, primarily because it involved ID verification and setting up a PayPal account, which took some effort. Moreover, the platform does not provide categorized studies, limiting my ability to choose studies that specifically apply to me. This sometimes causes delays as I have to wait for studies that fit my preference.

**What problems is Prolific solving and how is that benefiting you?**

Prolific solves my financial constraints, allowing me to earn extra income flexibly without long hours. I can work on my schedule, check surveys, and it's a stress-free way to make money.

  ### 6. Enjoyable and Rewarding Platform for AI Research Studies

**Rating:** 5.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Nomsa P. | AI data specialist and Technical Support Agent, Small-Business (50 or fewer emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** November 11, 2025

**What do you like best about Prolific?**

Prolific makes it simple to find high-quality research participants quickly. The platform is easy to navigate, and the filters help target the right audience efficiently. It saves a lot of time compared to manual recruitment, and the results are reliable.

**What do you dislike about Prolific?**

The pricing can be a bit high for smaller projects, and occasionally it takes longer to find participants with very specific criteria. Otherwise, it’s a dependable platform for research studies.

**What problems is Prolific solving and how is that benefiting you?**

Prolific solves the problem of finding reliable, high-quality research participants quickly and efficiently. This benefits me by saving time on recruitment, allowing me to focus on completing studies, especially AI-related tasks, while earning fair rewards.

  ### 7. Easy Work and a Good Pay Rate

**Rating:** 4.5/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Seifeldin A. | Freelance AI developer, Small-Business (50 or fewer emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** February 26, 2026

**What do you like best about Prolific?**

The work is easy, the pay rate is good, the level of security is high, and the platform is very user-friendly.

**What do you dislike about Prolific?**

There’s a relatively low number of projects available over time, and the overall variety of projects is limited.

**What problems is Prolific solving and how is that benefiting you?**

I was having issues with my identity verification because it required either a passport or a driving license for my country, and I didn’t have either. I contacted support, and about two weeks later the option to verify my ID using a national ID card was added for my country.

  ### 8. Effortless Participant Access, But Setup Needs Clarity

**Rating:** 3.5/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Sandra C.

**Reviewed Date:** October 23, 2025

**What do you like best about Prolific?**

I find Prolific solves one of my major challenges by saving me time in recruiting participants for my master's thesis. Instead of having to approach companies and negotiate with HR departments, Prolific provides the participants I need, effectively eliminating the hassle and complexity of this process. This convenience makes a significant positive impact on my research efforts, allowing me to allocate my time and energy more efficiently.

**What do you dislike about Prolific?**

I struggled with the setup due to the need to read and understand all the policies from Prolific for my diary study. It was quite tricky given my study's complexity, and I sometimes couldn't find information on everything I needed, leaving some aspects in a gray area. Additionally, I face difficulties with logistical issues keeping participants retained for five-day studies, as I can't enforce daily participation. Also, the platform redundantly requires me to fill in participant numbers and select a country for saved participants, even when it should be inferred from previously saved data.

**What problems is Prolific solving and how is that benefiting you?**

I find Prolific saves me time by providing easy access to study participants, eliminating the need to approach companies and HRs.

  ### 9. Efficient platform with small browser issues

**Rating:** 4.5/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Martin H.

**Reviewed Date:** November 24, 2025

**What do you like best about Prolific?**

I love that Prolific's platform is well-structured and easy to use. The transparent cost structure is a big plus because it allows me to submit the invoice to my university. I can accurately and quickly track how much I have to pay per participant, which gives me a clear picture of the expenses. This makes using Prolific both efficient and clear for my scientific surveys, especially when I need participants from the USA.

**What do you dislike about Prolific?**

Some links do not work in Mozilla Firefox, so I am forced to switch to another browser like Edge, for example.

**What problems is Prolific solving and how is that benefiting you?**

I use Prolific to recruit participants from the USA for scientific surveys. The platform is well-structured, easy to use, and offers transparent costs, allowing me to submit the invoice to my university.

  ### 10. Effortless Participant Recruitment at a Reasonable Cost

**Rating:** 5.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** SungHyoun H.

**Reviewed Date:** December 20, 2025

**What do you like best about Prolific?**

I find Prolific to be very effective for recruiting participants from a wide pool quickly and easily, all at a reasonable cost. The screening feature is particularly useful as it allows researchers to restrict participation to individuals who match the study's target population through multiple screening criteria. I also appreciate how easy the initial setup was, thanks to the clear and detailed guides provided on the website.

**What do you dislike about Prolific?**

I just wish it had more options for recruiting dyadic data.

**What problems is Prolific solving and how is that benefiting you?**

I use Prolific for data collection, recruiting participants from a wide pool quickly and easily at a reasonable cost. Its screening feature allows targeting specific populations effectively.

  ### 11. Effortless Participant Recruitment with Prolific

**Rating:** 5.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Chang G.

**Reviewed Date:** November 10, 2025

**What do you like best about Prolific?**

I appreciate Prolific for its quota settings on different demographics. This feature allows me to recruit a specific proportion of participants based on various thresholds such as age, gender, and political affiliations, which is incredibly useful for conducting social experiments. This capability helps ensure that my research samples are representative and unbiased. The setup process with Prolific was also very easy, making the transition from our previous platform, MTurks, smooth and stress-free. These elements make Prolific an invaluable tool for my research, and I would highly recommend it to others.

**What do you dislike about Prolific?**

I wish there was a lower platform fee.

**What problems is Prolific solving and how is that benefiting you?**

I use Prolific for recruiting social experiment participants, utilizing demographic quotas to effectively target specific groups by age, gender, and political affiliation.

  ### 12. Prolific is a superb software for online surveys.

**Rating:** 4.5/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Verified User in Research | Mid-Market (51-1000 emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** November 06, 2025

**What do you like best about Prolific?**

The ease of use of Prolific for finding participants, as well as all the criteria that can be selected. The customer service is quite responsive.

**What do you dislike about Prolific?**

The fees are quite high, so you need to plan for a significant amount of money to test all the participants you want. Also, the invoice system is a bit slow for charging the account in another currency such as the euro. Finally, not being able to transfer money from one workspace to another is very limiting.

**What problems is Prolific solving and how is that benefiting you?**

the recruitment of participants on a large scale. Thanks to Prolific, an experiment can be finished in one day or a few days. It would take weeks if everything were done face-to-face.

  ### 13. Interesting Research with Fair Pay and Prompt Payments

**Rating:** 5.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Pawel J. | technical and commercial advisor, Renewables & Environment, Mid-Market (51-1000 emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** April 21, 2026

**What do you like best about Prolific?**

very interesting research, fair pay, prompt payments

**What do you dislike about Prolific?**

Nothing, everything's fine, clear and straightforward

**What problems is Prolific solving and how is that benefiting you?**

you can easily earn a bit of extra cash by taking part in interesting tasks

  ### 14. A very versatile platform for survey and recruitment with a lot of reach and a good customer service

**Rating:** 4.5/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Verified User in Higher Education | Small-Business (50 or fewer emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** June 24, 2025

**What do you like best about Prolific?**

I am an academic, I came to prolific because of its greater professionalism over other survey recruitment platforms out there. Over time, plus its versatility in terms of the things you can do with it has convinced me that it is one of the best if not the best on the market. Particularly in recent years, it has improved its scope in terms of countries or demographic strata. Its integration with different survey software is in my experience also very good. The platform is also quite intuitive and easy to use.

**What do you dislike about Prolific?**

The customer service could still be faster, although I believe it is already much better than what exists out there.

Some smaller countries could still have a larger pool of truly active participants. But again, which other company offers this reach, so easily?

**What problems is Prolific solving and how is that benefiting you?**

Prolific helps us recruit participants for online academic studies

  ### 15. I recommend Prolific to other researchers for high quality data

**Rating:** 4.5/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Verified User in Higher Education | Enterprise (> 1000 emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** September 29, 2025

**What do you like best about Prolific?**

In my experience, Prolific respondents generally take time and expend considerable effort. The data seem to be high quality.

**What do you dislike about Prolific?**

I wish that there were easier tools for running longitudinal studies. I know that I can make a custom allowlist, but it would be nice if there were buttons I could use to automate the process.

**What problems is Prolific solving and how is that benefiting you?**

I am a social psychologist, so Prolific helps me gather data to test questions about human cognition and behavior.

  ### 16. Good experience!

**Rating:** 5.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Verified User in Research | Enterprise (> 1000 emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** April 24, 2025

**What do you like best about Prolific?**

Really thought it through and listen to feedback. The system seems to be built to be fair with participants and you can tell that participants are eager to participates. You can collect a lot of quality data in a short time span. It takes careful consideration and practice for understanding hw to adjust the experiment to the way it manages participants recruitment and payment but once you get it the sky is the limit.

**What do you dislike about Prolific?**

Many features are added and it is not so easy to stay up to date with the latest ones. But the features are optional so that core functioning appear to remain more or less the same. If you run one experiment a year you will find an interface that is different, more options but you often find that you can just not use them and quickly set up your experiment.

**What problems is Prolific solving and how is that benefiting you?**

I am running studies for research in Neuroscience through prolific.

  ### 17. easy to use, and great way to make side gigs

**Rating:** 4.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Jiangqin M. | AI Data Analyst, Small-Business (50 or fewer emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** May 25, 2025

**What do you like best about Prolific?**

Easy to use, even you don't qualify, but you fill the screen questions, you can still get payment for the screen questions, you will never waster your time, each minute get payment.

**What do you dislike about Prolific?**

sometimes they payment is low, and I don't get survey every day

**What problems is Prolific solving and how is that benefiting you?**

I am participant, I join the survey and get payment, this is a great way for side gigs. When I have problem, the customer service is good, they response soon.

  ### 18. Overall, a great experience

**Rating:** 4.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Verified User in Research | Enterprise (> 1000 emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** March 06, 2025

**What do you like best about Prolific?**

Prolific streamlines the process of implementing surveys/studies and recruiting participants. It is a very user-friendly platform which allows for fast and easy recruitment of participants. Prolific also provides supports/options to recruit high quality participants, which is very helpful in online recruitment. It also provides useful guides to integrate your participant recruitment with your survey or experiment platform. Prolific is not perfect and there are some bumps along the way, but overall it is very worthwhile.

**What do you dislike about Prolific?**

While Prolific provides some supports for gathering high-quality data, these are not perfect. It is hard to gather data from participants without getting a couple participants that do not care to perform the task they're asked, and they speed through the survey as quick as possible. Ideally, these participants may be monitored via Prolific. Prolific has a screener criteria of Approval Rate, which helps limit these participants, but due to ethics, if a participant completes my survey I must approve them. Following that, they're approval rate is increased. It would be great to have an additional measure to account for those participants when approval rate is not a perfect measure. Additionally, another area for improvement is the cost. Prolific offers a great service but it is quite costly.

**What problems is Prolific solving and how is that benefiting you?**

Prolific has a wide pool of participants which is a great benefit. It has a wide variety of screeners and criteria for recruitment which is critical. Additionally, the ability to integrate survey platforms with Prolific is critical.

  ### 19. Reliable and effective across many dozens of studies!

**Rating:** 5.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Timothy B. | Professor of Psychology, Enterprise (> 1000 emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** December 03, 2024

**What do you like best about Prolific?**

I use prolific many times a year to run research studies. It is easy to use for beginners – you can even run short studies within prolific. I have implemented 99 studies over 7 years of useage. But a major strength is in linking to other systems, like Qualtrics. Customer support is there if you need it, along with a helpful community. hihgly recommended: The data quality is second to none, in my experience, and the security and payments handling has been faultless.

**What do you dislike about Prolific?**

There are not many dislikes. Minor UI issues, like sorting previous studies, or approving participants are often sorted in response to user feedback. I guess the one niggle is price, but it is good value for money with few competitors. It would be nice to be able to recruit larger samples outside the UK/US, but that is coming along also.

**What problems is Prolific solving and how is that benefiting you?**

Recruiting large samples of quality participants quickly and reliably. Many use the platform for some time, so they are efficenct, and often available for followups.

  ### 20. Rapid and customisable participant recruitment

**Rating:** 4.5/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Alice P. | PHD Researcher, Enterprise (> 1000 emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** November 19, 2024

**What do you like best about Prolific?**

I like that you can customise the screeners, even down to excluding individual participants (for example, those who have completed previous experiments of yours or your colleagues). Data collection is very quick and the participants are highly motivated to complete to a high quality. It is a million times easier than recruiting participants in person and you can highly customise your participant pool, making it a representative sample of the population too. It is simple and easy to integrate with your experiment platform. I've used Prolific several times now for studies and am overall very happy with it.

**What do you dislike about Prolific?**

Sometimes participants have clearly lied about things like their language proficiency, or have not read the instructions that state that they must be from a certain region of the UK, and they get very cross if you reject them on this basis and insist on payment. Customer support could sometimes do with being quicker, as sometimes a participants payment has been approved before they have had a chance to return a submission for you.

**What problems is Prolific solving and how is that benefiting you?**

We're conducting academic research, and it is often very difficult to get large participant pools that aren't heavily biased towards the student body. This enables us to reach participants from other areas of the country, of a diverse age range, ethnic/cultural background and social class.

  ### 21. Very efficient and helpful platform to collect data for psychological studies

**Rating:** 5.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Hong Z. | Senior researcher, Enterprise (> 1000 emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** November 18, 2024

**What do you like best about Prolific?**

1) the ease of use, 2) the efficiency of collecting data, 3) the diversity of sample population, 4) the quality of partcipants

**What do you dislike about Prolific?**

I feel that Prolific places significant emphasis on protecting participants' interests, which is commendable. However, I have noticed that sometimes participants provide invalid or careless responses to studies or surveys. Despite this, I feel compelled to approve their submissions due to concerns about fairness and Prolific’s policies. This creates a situation where some participants can complete studies extremely quickly and carelessly without facing any consequences.

It would be beneficial if Prolific established clearer rules or guidelines to ensure that participants adhere to standards of quality and provide thoughtful and careful responses when completing studies.

**What problems is Prolific solving and how is that benefiting you?**

Prolific helps me collect data for psychological studies involving practitioners who are often difficult to recruit in laboratory settings. This sample population is crucial, as it allows us, as psychologists, to draw conclusions that can be generalized to applied settings. Moreover, the data collection process is highly time-efficient, making Prolific an invaluable resource for research.

  ### 22. Easy and efficient, if costly

**Rating:** 4.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Shayne S. | Experimental Officer in Psycholinguistics, Small-Business (50 or fewer emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** November 16, 2024

**What do you like best about Prolific?**

Prolific makes finding participants with specific demographic backgrounds extremely easy. Moreover, once you've posted an experiment, data collection proceeds extremely quickly. Setting up a study is straightforward, and is easy to integrate with other internet-based data collection platforms. In the rare cases where I've encountered issues (e.g. with generating an invoice for study payments), I've had quick and useful feedback from customer support. Finally, the quality of the data collected tends to be pretty good (as compared to some competitor platforms, e.g. Amazon Mechanical Turk).

**What do you dislike about Prolific?**

For all that it is straightforward to filter for specific demographic qualifications, the coverage of the user-base doesn't always align with our needs. Recruitment from English-speaking populations is fantastic, but it is often much more difficult to find participants from other language communities (e.g. German). In addition, the service fee is steep. This means that I typically only use prolific if I am in a hurry, or cannot otherwise find participants in my local research network.

**What problems is Prolific solving and how is that benefiting you?**

I conduct psycholinguistic experiments a part of my role as a linguistics researcher. My field increasingly relies on data collected over the internet, and prolific is a useful platform for finding participants that are reliable, and meet our demographic criteria for inclusion.

  ### 23. Overall good, but some changes would be helpful

**Rating:** 3.5/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Verified User in Research | Small-Business (50 or fewer emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** April 04, 2025

**What do you like best about Prolific?**

The participant pool is large and recruitment is quick, the interface is user friendly.

**What do you dislike about Prolific?**

I don't like the timeout feature and think it would be good if people could opt out of it (or set a much longer timeline). I frequently get emails from people who for whatever reason took much longer than expected to do the study and got timed out and then end up having to pay them as well as the other participants so the study always costs more than expected, and it's time consuming for both me and the participants. It would also be good if Prolific accepted AMEX again.

**What problems is Prolific solving and how is that benefiting you?**

Recruiting large samples of human participants easily

  ### 24. This is the only participant pooling platform I have tried

**Rating:** 4.5/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Verified User in Higher Education | Mid-Market (51-1000 emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** January 09, 2025

**What do you like best about Prolific?**

The process to recruit participants is easy.

**What do you dislike about Prolific?**

More than half of my participants significantly increase the duration spent on the task by either staying idle on the consent form or after finishing the task. I suspect this is because they expect an increase in rewards, as many complain about how I underestimated the time and demand more rewards. However, I recruited hundreds of participants, and it only occurred twice when a subject spent significantly more time on the task than the average.

What participants log on Prolific does not reflect the actual time spent on the task. I record reaction times. However, Prolific displays the average (Prolific) time for each experiment and pressures researchers to increase the pay, even when participants deliberately manipulate the average duration.

I collected different batches of data for the exact same experiment and often noticed the following behavior: If my first one or two participants complete the task quickly, most of the subsequent participants follow suit. Conversely, if my first few participants take significantly longer than the estimated time, the rest do the same. Perhaps they are influenced by the power of the crowd; the more participants exceed the time limit, the more likely an increase in rewards will occur. That is why I find publicly displaying the average (Prolific) duration problematic.

The inaccurate, publicly displayed estimated time duration provided by Prolific has made collecting data on the platform quite stressful. I receive many complaints, even though they are not valid.

I also think Prolific should not automatically approve submissions. They should either require researchers to allow 7 days for participants to return their submissions and remove the automatic submission feature or not require a 7-day waiting period and automatically approve submissions. I do not want to reject participants' submissions as I know it affects their approval rate. However, many participants take advantage of this and do not return their submissions, hoping that the researcher will forget about it and it will get approved automatically. Indeed, being busy, I often forget about those participants that I did not want to reject. Their submissions get approved without providing any useful data.

Prolific is also unreliable in terms of support. Sometimes, it takes them several weeks to respond to my requests. On several occasions, I requested a special invoice, and they continued to make mistakes on it, leading me to wonder if they even read the requests. Additionally, I received each response one week apart. Considering they take 25–30% of research funds, Prolific needs to demonstrate greater professionalism.

**What problems is Prolific solving and how is that benefiting you?**

Recruiting participants for studies.

**Official Response from Marketing Prolific:**

> Thank you for taking the time to share your detailed feedback about your experience on Prolific. We understand how important it is for our platform to meet your expectations and support your research effectively, and we’re sorry to hear that aspects of the process have been stressful for you. I’d like to address the concerns you raised and offer some clarity:

Participant Behavior Impacting Completion Times
On Prolific, we use the median completion time to calculate and display the average completion time for studies. This approach minimizes the impact of outliers, ensuring that your study will only begin underpaying if a significant number of participants take longer than the estimated time. Please also note that participant rewards are fixed at the amount you set, regardless of their individual completion times.

We assure you that participants cannot conspire to manipulate completion times. Any idle periods - such as those on the consent form - are more likely due to participants carefully reading the material as directed.

Based on the events you've described, with only two participants significantly exceeding the average duration, your study’s completion times appear to fall within normal variance. However, we would happily review your study further to provide additional insight and support.

Automatic Approvals & Returns
When automatic approval is enabled, participants are only automatically paid 21 days after participating in a study. If you’ve asked a participant to return their submission but haven’t received a response within a couple of days, please contact our Support Team, and we will be happy to assist you in ensuring the approval and returns processes work as intended.

We understand your concerns about forgetting to manage submissions, especially when you’re busy. To help streamline this, we’d be happy to discuss best practices or alternative workflows that might better suit your needs.

Support Wait Times
We sincerely apologize if you’ve experienced delays in receiving support. Over the past year, our team faced unprecedented numbers of requests, which temporarily impacted our response times. Fortunately, these are now under control, and we’re currently responding to most queries within a couple of working days.

At Prolific, we value feedback like yours as it helps ensure we continue providing the best possible support to our research community. If you’d like to discuss your concerns further or require specific assistance, please contact our Support Team via info@prolific.com referencing this review.

Thank you again for your thoughtful input, and we’re here to help whenever you need us.

  ### 25. Solid, ethical platform for recruiting participants

**Rating:** 4.5/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Kevin C. | Editorial Director for Culture & Psychology, Small-Business (50 or fewer emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** October 28, 2024

**What do you like best about Prolific?**

Filtering for specific characteristics of participants is very clear. They do a good job of ensuring that you are honest and ethical with your pay to the participants, which I think helps keep the data at a higher quality than other platforms. Setting up studies is very straightforward; they outline clear guidelines for how to comply with their requirements. Customer Support responds quickly.

**What do you dislike about Prolific?**

Obviously, they aren't going to have every specific characteristic for users, and extremely specific samples might need to look elsewhere (but it is worth checking to see if they do have it). Sometimes, I have found discrepancies between their demographic data of the participants and what the participants self-report (especially in terms of political beliefs), but I think that's endemic to every platform.

**What problems is Prolific solving and how is that benefiting you?**

I use Prolific to sample participants for research studies. It is probably the most cost-effective / quality ratio you can ask for. For me, as a researcher with very little funds, I very much appreciate that my studies can still be run without breaking the bank.

  ### 26. Effortless and Fast Recruitment for Longitudinal Studies

**Rating:** 4.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Verified User in Higher Education | Enterprise (> 1000 emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** November 14, 2025

**What do you like best about Prolific?**

How easy and fast it is to recruit participants, especially for longitudinal studies.

**What do you dislike about Prolific?**

Some participants are not serious when taking surveys.

**What problems is Prolific solving and how is that benefiting you?**

Prolific allows me to easily access participants, especially for longitudinal studies.

  ### 27. Prolific is a game changer for recruiting participants!

**Rating:** 5.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Sarah W. | Associate Professor, Enterprise (> 1000 emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** September 09, 2024

**What do you like best about Prolific?**

The assurance of anonymity.
The speed of setting up a study, and the speed of getting results, so you can do a quick pilot study to test out an idea with ease and relatively low cost.
The ability to screen participants so you can target your recruitment efforts
The ability to follow up with participants for further data collection

**What do you dislike about Prolific?**

Sometimes participants do not provide quality data, and rush through the survey. If you withhold payment because of this they can get quite agitated.

**What problems is Prolific solving and how is that benefiting you?**

Access to participants to fill out research surveys. It used to take months to access participants to fill out surveys, and be very time consuming. And the results were marginal at best in recruiting the numbers you needed. Now I can set up a sruvey on Prolific and the results come through in hours. It's a game changer for sure!

  ### 28. very easy to run studies and participants are high qualtiy

**Rating:** 5.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Amit R. | Researcher, Small-Business (50 or fewer emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** February 12, 2025

**What do you like best about Prolific?**

the participants that complete my study on prolific put in good effort and there are few who fail attention checks. Also very divers group of participants

**What do you dislike about Prolific?**

I would like it to be easier to make studies with participants from different regions of the world (in a more general sense than country by country). Additionally, I would like it to be easier to rerun a study with more people.

**What problems is Prolific solving and how is that benefiting you?**

finding participants to take my study, compensating them accordingly and getting proper sample sizes

  ### 29. Prolific makes data collection a breeze!

**Rating:** 4.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Sydelle d. | Doctoral Researcher, Enterprise (> 1000 emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** November 28, 2024

**What do you like best about Prolific?**

I like how easy it is to screen participants and how quickly one can collect data. Payment is fast and easy too, and now that I can recruit using multiple URLs, implementing most of my experiments has turned into a breeze, especially those with multiple stimuli sets. Integrating my experiment into the Prolific workflow is trivial. It's the only platform I use for data collection. Nothing compares!

**What do you dislike about Prolific?**

I find the messaging interface to be a bit clunky, and I wish it would show which devices you have chosen to allow in the summary before deployment. I also find the custom screeners to be hard to use.

**What problems is Prolific solving and how is that benefiting you?**

I'm a researcher and Prolific helps me reach a diverse audience.

  ### 30. Using Prolific for research

**Rating:** 4.5/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** anna D. | Assistant Professor, Mid-Market (51-1000 emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** December 26, 2024

**What do you like best about Prolific?**

Prolific is easy to use for both me and my students, they have multiple screeners that help me reach the specific samples I need. Usually the quality of responses, and therefore the data I get, is good. I also like that Prolific makes sure that participants are fairly compensated. I usualy get quick costumer support when issues come up.

**What do you dislike about Prolific?**

The platform's fees have become very high. Also, I cant always use the attention checks that I prefer to screen out participants who fail those checks.

**What problems is Prolific solving and how is that benefiting you?**

Prolific helps me reach larger samples of community participants in psychological studies (Im a researcher)

  ### 31. The best panel service for academic researchers

**Rating:** 5.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** David P. | Research Engineer, Enterprise (> 1000 emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** October 25, 2024

**What do you like best about Prolific?**

Prolific is easy to use, with a mostly well-thought-out interface and an excellent feature set. The support is helpful and responsive. Prices are fair and reasonable. There is also a powerful API which most users won't need but it does make some interesting advanced use cases possible, which we have used in our organization.

**What do you dislike about Prolific?**

Sometimes the interface is very slow, but this is just an inconvenience.

**What problems is Prolific solving and how is that benefiting you?**

We are an academic research facility, so Prolific is solving the problem of obtaining partcipants for our research. Originally all such research was done in person; then, online research became feasible with Mechanical Turk. However, MTurk was difficult to use and had a low-quality participant base. Prolific benefits us by providing an easier experience with higher-quality participants relative to what was possible before.

  ### 32. Prolific is great for researchers

**Rating:** 5.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Verified User in Higher Education | Enterprise (> 1000 emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** April 22, 2025

**What do you like best about Prolific?**

My favorite thing about Prolific is how quick it is to get your data. My research requires me to get participants from all over the country and that could take a long time but with Prolific, I can get the data I need in no time - and it is very good quality!

**What do you dislike about Prolific?**

The interface of Prolific has been quite confusing in the past but it seems to have improved over time.

**What problems is Prolific solving and how is that benefiting you?**

The main problem Prolific helps me sole is getting access to data. It can be hard to get participants who are relevant for my type of research but this is a great and convenient way to get them easily.

  ### 33. Prolific has allowed me to do my PhD

**Rating:** 5.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Verified User in Medical Practice | Small-Business (50 or fewer emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** July 17, 2025

**What do you like best about Prolific?**

Prolific allows me to get high quality date for my studies

**What do you dislike about Prolific?**

I think it should allow to migrate studys from different projects

**What problems is Prolific solving and how is that benefiting you?**

Its allowing me to collect data for my experiments

  ### 34. Appreciate Prolific a lot, think there are things that would make it easier to use.

**Rating:** 5.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Merrick O. | Inaugural Racial Equity Postdoctoral Scholar, Enterprise (> 1000 emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** August 23, 2024

**What do you like best about Prolific?**

Wide distribution of types of people. Additionally, simple interface (not overly complicated). I use it frequently.

**What do you dislike about Prolific?**

I think that there are things that would make it a lot easier to navigate.
1) Navigation to other studies within the study draft page. Sometimes I need to go back to another study to compare the specs, but I can't do that without completely closing out of the current study I am in and awkwardly clicking through projects > specific project > draft/completed/active.
2) Sometimes the rounding for the study estimates are inconsistent between the quote displayed on the study page and the final amount that I publish.
3) I would like to say which populations I want to exclude, too, (e.g., I want to exclude police officers but exclude firefighters)
4) I would like to have easy access to my overall spending across projects - where the money comes into and out of, etc.

**What problems is Prolific solving and how is that benefiting you?**

I need to collect data about human behavior.

  ### 35. Very easy to use and very good quality data

**Rating:** 5.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Verified User in Higher Education | Small-Business (50 or fewer emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** June 16, 2025

**What do you like best about Prolific?**

I really like Prolific's easy setup and data quality. It made research much easier.

**What do you dislike about Prolific?**

I cannot think of anything that I dislike about Prolific. So far, 100% satisfied.

**What problems is Prolific solving and how is that benefiting you?**

I am using Prolific to recruit participants to complete social psychology online survey.

  ### 36. Useful tool but more payment flexibility would be better for Economics experiments

**Rating:** 4.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Verified User in Education Management | Enterprise (> 1000 emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** March 21, 2024

**What do you like best about Prolific?**

It is a pretty seamless process to integrate with my experimental software and collecting data is generally smooth. The subject pool seems to be fairly high quality (much higher than mTurk).

**What do you dislike about Prolific?**

They have kind of dumb rules on minimum payments. I do a lot of economics experiments where participants are paid for performance. However, Prolific seems to require a high base pay irrespective of performance. I agree that participants should get a sufficient compensation for their time, but that should encompass TOTAL payment and not just the base pay.

**What problems is Prolific solving and how is that benefiting you?**

Access to a large and diverse pool of participants.

**Official Response from Marketing Prolific:**

> Thank you for sharing your experience with integrating Prolific with your experimental software. We understand the importance of payment flexibility, and we are working to find a balance between fair compensation and performance or progress-based payments. You can read more about our current principles around Participant Rewards here - https://researcher-help.prolific.com/hc/en-gb/articles/4407695146002-Prolific-s-payment-principles

  ### 37. #1 website for participants to earn money while helping researchers

**Rating:** 5.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Nickie H. | Digital UX Performance Analyst, Consumer Goods, Small-Business (50 or fewer emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** June 19, 2025

**What do you like best about Prolific?**

The upsides of using prolific are the fast payouts.

**What do you dislike about Prolific?**

The downside of using prolific is that they have a waiting list for participants

**What problems is Prolific solving and how is that benefiting you?**

Prolific helps me with extra money when I need it the most.

  ### 38. Great platform for data collection

**Rating:** 5.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Alex B. | Senior Lecturer, Enterprise (> 1000 emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** February 25, 2025

**What do you like best about Prolific?**

I love its user-friendliness and interface.

**What do you dislike about Prolific?**

Sometimes there may be glitches that prevent the collection of completion codes, making it easier to track good and lazy respondents.

**What problems is Prolific solving and how is that benefiting you?**

Data collection and sampling.

  ### 39. Fast data collection, relatively high quality of responses

**Rating:** 4.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Verified User in Higher Education | Mid-Market (51-1000 emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** October 22, 2024

**What do you like best about Prolific?**

There are many participants from the US and the UK with many free screeining options, so it is easy to collect responses fast. The quality of the responses is better than what I have experienced with several other platforms even when paying on the same rate. The open-ended responses are thoughtful, the response time (ie. time spent on the survey or specific study tasks) is appropriate and I have few rejects due to failed attention checkers.
I also love how easy it is to integrate it with Qualtrics for seemless recruitment and compensation processes. Their tutorials are very detailed and up to date.
Despite the downsides and costs, Prolific is my preferred recruitment platform and I use it often.

**What do you dislike about Prolific?**

There are several drawbacks. These are the biggest ones:
1. You cannot make any changes to the study once it has been posted, or move funds out of a study once you paid for participants for that project. It is possible to pause the study but to use funds that were already allocated to it you can only unpause the study -- you cannot edit it or use the funds for something else. My lesson is -- open the study for fewer responses and keep adding slots as needed.
2. Very rigid platform in terms of how to move studies between project folders, collaborations etc.
3. Very slow to respond. Most of the time everything is great but if you need to contact them with a question, it can take forever to get a response. I needed to reach out twice (for clarifying certain technical details required by the IRB and once for some billing information related to my university). It was a long process...
4. It is more expensive because there is a minimum pay for the participants' labor as well as a heafty overhhead fee (about 30%) to Prolific. But you are getting what you are paying for, in a good way.

**What problems is Prolific solving and how is that benefiting you?**

Recruiting participants for my academic research studies, including access to specific niche populations.

  ### 40. quickly collect survey data

**Rating:** 4.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Verified User in Research | Mid-Market (51-1000 emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** April 23, 2025

**What do you like best about Prolific?**

It is very easy to recruit participants for studies. The participants are generally attentive and allow for interesting insights into human behavior.

**What do you dislike about Prolific?**

The platform allows little flexibility. The standard study setup is good, but beyond that, little can be changed.

**What problems is Prolific solving and how is that benefiting you?**

Survey a large number of people. Prolific acts as an intermediary between me and people who are willing to respond.

  ### 41. Reliable tool to collect data

**Rating:** 4.5/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Verified User in Higher Education | Enterprise (> 1000 emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** July 27, 2025

**What do you like best about Prolific?**

The ability to select participants as per the research requirements

**What do you dislike about Prolific?**

Prolific takes median time taken for the survey. In my opinion, average time spent on the survey should be used.

**What problems is Prolific solving and how is that benefiting you?**

I am an academic who uses Prolific for data collection that helps me further academic research

  ### 42. Best tool for online research

**Rating:** 5.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Daniel Camilo G. | PhD Candidate, Enterprise (> 1000 emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** August 30, 2024

**What do you like best about Prolific?**

The large pool of subjects. You can conduct research on several topics and get large samples under many demographic characteristics.
The integration manual with different survey tools is very clear and makes the process very smooth and efficient.
The entire process of conducting incentivized research: adding money, accepting submissions, making payments, and reaching out to participants. It is a very straight-forward process from the beginning to the end.

**What do you dislike about Prolific?**

Not my case, but I've heard recently concerns about the large pool and how that could compromise data quality.

**What problems is Prolific solving and how is that benefiting you?**

The anonymity layer is necessary to conduct social science research, specially with delicate topics such as discrimination.
Prolific's guidelines and structure allows me to reach out to the population I am interested in, and to collect data I can trust to investigate social issues.

  ### 43. It has been good so far

**Rating:** 4.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Zahra H. | Assistant Professor, Enterprise (> 1000 emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** February 26, 2025

**What do you like best about Prolific?**

Easy way of finding good quality sample!

**What do you dislike about Prolific?**

It is expensive for research project and many of the participants did not complete the screening questions. So, using the screeners actually drops the number of samples.

**What problems is Prolific solving and how is that benefiting you?**

Helps me to find participants fast and quick

  ### 44. Amazing

**Rating:** 5.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Lamis A. | Professeur permanent, Enterprise (> 1000 emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** January 30, 2025

**What do you like best about Prolific?**

I like the new idea of screen out participants

**What do you dislike about Prolific?**

absolutely nothing i don't have anything in mind

**What problems is Prolific solving and how is that benefiting you?**

every time i feel there is a problem or i need something i directly find it updated in the system, the screen-out idea is amazing it saves me time and it's ethical and it's more targeted

  ### 45. Prolific Design - Enhancing Research Efficiency and Quality

**Rating:** 4.5/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Thinh N. | Researcher, Small-Business (50 or fewer emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** July 11, 2024

**What do you like best about Prolific?**

For me the most appealing aspects of Prolific is its convenience and user-friendly design, which makes it incredibly straightforward to set up and launch a study.
Also, pre-screened participants is a significant advantage, which I can be confident that the data I have comes from real, verified individuals. this Prolific’s filtering options make it easy to target the individuals I want to have in my study accurately.

**What do you dislike about Prolific?**

The major concern I have is the high fee associated with using the platform. While the quality of participants and the convenience of the platform are excellent, the cost can be prohibitive, especially for researchers with limited budgets or with a big and long term study. For instance, if a study requires a large sample size, the cumulative fees can quickly add up. I suggest, a more tiered or flexible pricing model could make Prolific more accessible, where the service fee would be lower when there are bigger samples are selected?

Another one, Prolific could enhance settings that allow for more collaborative interactions between participants. For example, a feature that enables two or more participants to join and interact with each other in real-time during a study could provide valuable insights. I think this collaborative setting could be particularly useful for more realistic researches.

**What problems is Prolific solving and how is that benefiting you?**

To me, the data quality is the top issue, that I have experienced when collecting data from other platforms. One way that Prolific can tackle this is by participant verification and screening processes. Prolific offers detailed pre-screening options that allow researchers to filter participants based on specific demographic and behavioral criteria.

I believe the benefits of Prolific’s focus on data quality are manifold. However, it will definitely be even more beneficial if Prolific could offer researchers the opportunity to review (visually) how participants interact with the survey, at least for review before launching. This would enable us to better design our studies, balancing creativity with an understanding of the participant experience and capabilities.

**Official Response from Marketing Prolific:**

> Thanks for the feedback Thinh! We're glad to hear you appreciate Prolific's convenience & user-friendly design. Your positive comments mean a lot to us.

We understand your concern about the platform fees, especially for large or long-term studies and your idea for collaborative interactions between participants is particularly interesting. I'll ensure these comments are passed to the relevant Product teams for future discussion.

Thanks again for your feedback. If you have any more questions or need help, feel free to reach out.

  ### 46. Successfully using prolific for research for 10 years

**Rating:** 4.5/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Anna D. | Principal investigator at a research university, Mid-Market (51-1000 emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** February 14, 2025

**What do you like best about Prolific?**

The ease of running studies, integrating with other software (e.g., Qualtrics) and the quick and high quality responses we usually get.

**What do you dislike about Prolific?**

The limited options for attention checks that the platfrom allows

**What problems is Prolific solving and how is that benefiting you?**

Prolific helps us reach a large number of community participants for psychlogical studies

  ### 47. Prolific for research

**Rating:** 5.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Yuri M. | Graduate Research Assistant, Mid-Market (51-1000 emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** May 25, 2025

**What do you like best about Prolific?**

Prolific is user friendly, and it is not time consuming to upload a study.

**What do you dislike about Prolific?**

I would love to have more options for cross-cultural research.

**What problems is Prolific solving and how is that benefiting you?**

Prolific is great for collecting data!

  ### 48. Prolific is great

**Rating:** 4.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Verified User in Research | Small-Business (50 or fewer emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** April 23, 2025

**What do you like best about Prolific?**

Prolific has an intuitive interface and the responses tend to be high-quality.

**What do you dislike about Prolific?**

A lot of people do surveys too fast without spending much time thinking, just trying to get through questions as fast as possible to maximize earnings.

**What problems is Prolific solving and how is that benefiting you?**

I need access to participants in experiments.

  ### 49. Good prices - good quality

**Rating:** 5.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Santina P. | UX Researcher, Small-Business (50 or fewer emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** October 08, 2024

**What do you like best about Prolific?**

I particularly like that you get to be very specific about your sample requirements and manually approve submissions. It's not easy to do remote tests and this tool makes it easier. The participants pool is also large enough not to have repetitive testers.

**What do you dislike about Prolific?**

I don't have many complaints. The way the interface is organized in projects could maybe be simpler, but once you get the hang of it, it works just fine.

**What problems is Prolific solving and how is that benefiting you?**

Being able to recruit with specific criteria that is easily verifiable. Also, being able to filter and approve submissions manually, and disqualify people who don't perform the test following the guidelines.

  ### 50. Impressed with the speed and quality of the data from Prolific

**Rating:** 4.5/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Verified User in Research | Enterprise (> 1000 emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** October 02, 2024

**What do you like best about Prolific?**

I think Prolific is probably the best platform for recruiting participants at this point in time. I think attention checks in the experiments are still needed because a small number of bots are present (although much better than almost all other similar platforms I have recruited from in the past). I would highly recommend Prolific to other researchers.

**What do you dislike about Prolific?**

The main downside is the spiralling costs. It is a tricky one as of course we should be paying participants more money, but it seems if you do that you get increased admin fees, so there's a bit of a balance needed. If Prolific could reduce their costs a bit I think this would benefit researchers, participants, and the scientific community.

**What problems is Prolific solving and how is that benefiting you?**

It does help greatly to recruit participants quickly. The data quality is generally good I would say. It is user friendly.
