"Cost-Effective and Feature-Rich, Needs Better Documentation"

4/5

What do you like best about PostHog?

I like PostHog's competitive pricing features. As a bootstrapped startup, this is especially valuable for me because it allows starting at zero and expecting to grow, which is a fantastic idea. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

What do you dislike about PostHog?

I think the concept of supporting server-side rendered applications combined with JavaScript could be a little clearer. The docs are good, but they're not great. We can have much better documentation, especially when referring to Python or Django applications. I think the mixing of the environments is not well supported. Also, the initial setup was easy, but it could have been easier with more clarity on the documentation side or clarity on what the docs are requiring. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

What problems is PostHog solving and how is that benefiting you?

I use PostHog to see customer navigation on my site and identify where they may get stuck. I also connect it to other data sources like Stripe for event correlation. The competitive pricing is great for my bootstrapped startup, allowing growth from zero. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

"Intuitive and Easy to Setup, But Needs Better Java Support"

4/5

What do you like best about PostHog?

I appreciate the easy setup of PostHog, which is important when trying out experimental APIs. It's straightforward to see events coming into the console, making the process of getting started quite smooth. I also find the intuitive use beneficial, especially for features like session replay, which my team was seeking. The analytics and screen replay capabilities have been valuable, and I'm considering consolidating our current tools, including Firebase Analytics, to just use PostHog due to these features. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

What do you dislike about PostHog?

I don't like the lack of Java support. I know everyone's using Kotlin, but I'm working with legacy code. I was able to find an implementation solution in the comment section, but maybe consider adding this to the doc for people working on old systems. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

What problems is PostHog solving and how is that benefiting you?

I use PostHog for analytics and screen replay. It was easy to set up, important for trying experimental APIs, and intuitive to see events in the console. I'm considering consolidating with Firebase Analytics due to its useful session replay feature. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

"An Essential Tool for Clear and Easy Analysis"

5/5

What do you like best about PostHog?

I really like that PostHog gives me clearer analytics than Google Analytics and is easier to install. I enjoy managing the dashboard views and the ability to generate them with AI, plus the session replays are indispensable for improving the quality of my application. I value the great free tier, the easy integration, and all the options and facilities that the platform provides. I am impressed that the AI installer in React works very well and that the AI in the platform helps a lot in creating insights and managing information that initially might seem unrelated. I also appreciate being able to quickly track identified user profiles, seeing all their events and errors. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

What do you dislike about PostHog?

I think there are many tabs that seem to refer to logs, and sometimes it can get confusing, or there is no check for errors that is an "ACTION REQUIRED" which could be used to trigger an alert. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

What problems is PostHog solving and how is that benefiting you?

PostHog gives me clearer analytics than Google Analytics, it is easier to install and to add logs. I love managing dashboards and generating insights with AI. The recorded sessions are indispensable for improving the quality of my application. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

"Intuitive, All-in-One Analytics Solution"

5/5

What do you like best about PostHog?

I use PostHog primarily for product analytics and also for LLM analytics and session recordings. I find it pretty easy to use and set up, and I appreciate that it's an all-in-one solution. The UX/UI is simple to understand, and whenever I'm stuck, its AI is very good at getting me back on track. The help docs are pretty good, though it's usually simpler to ask the AI. I like that it provides a single UI for many analytics-related tools. I've used it for product analytics, LLM analytics, and session recordings, but it can also handle web analytics, revenue analytics, heatmaps, and more. It serves as a data warehouse, providing a single point of access to all my data. I also enjoy their communication style as it's very casual, fun, and straight to the point, which makes using the app enjoyable. There are many tiny details that frequently make me say wow. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

What do you dislike about PostHog?

The first times I tried to create my own charts, I had a hard time understanding what types of chart/analysis I should use. Luckily, its embedded AI helped me do it. But the naming of the buttons/UI elements did not make it intuitive. Additionally, when using the LLM analytics there were some costs differences between what was displayed in the UI and my calculations given OpenAI rates. Differences were small, but I wasn't able to conciliate them. Also, in LLM Analytics, you have to click each message to see its content. When checking long conversations, it's annoying to have to scroll down to click on the message, scroll up to see its content, scroll down to click the next message, scroll up to see its content, and so on. There should be a better way of visualizing the conversation. The LLM feature is new in PostHog, so hopefully they are still iterating on it. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

What problems is PostHog solving and how is that benefiting you?

I use PostHog for product analytics, LLM analytics, and session recordings. Gaining access to data that helps me understand user interactions. It's an all-in-one solution with a single UI for various analytics-related tools, making data management straightforward. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

"Great monitoring platform!"

4.5/5

What do you like best about PostHog?

Honestly, what I like best about PostHog is that it keeps everything in one place. I don’t have to bounce between separate tools for analytics, session recordings, and feature flags—it’s all connected, and that makes it way easier to actually use the data. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

What do you dislike about PostHog?

What I dislike about PostHog is that sometimes it feels a bit heavy or rough around the edges. Because it does so many things in one platform, not every feature feels equally polished. For example, the UI can be a little overwhelming at first, and it takes some digging around to really understand where everything lives.

Another thing is performance—depending on how much data you’re tracking, queries can be slower than expected. It’s not a deal breaker, but when you’re trying to move quickly, that lag can be noticeable. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

What problems is PostHog solving and how is that benefiting you?

For me, PostHog solves the headache of having to glue together a bunch of different tools just to understand how people are using a product. Before, I’d have analytics in one place, session recordings in another, and experiments managed somewhere else. With PostHog, all of that lives under the same roof, so I can go from seeing what users are doing to testing a fix or improvement without switching contexts. "Developer-First with Great Features, Needs Better Documentation"

3.5/5

What do you like best about PostHog?

I like that PostHog is developer-first, which I find quite important. The brand itself is also very strong with the hedgehogs. It's very helpful that PostHog supports many different features or product lines, preventing the need to manage multiple separate services. This all-in-one platform approach makes it much easier for us, especially when we were evaluating other options that lacked feature flag capabilities. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

What do you dislike about PostHog?

I think the developer documentation is quite complicated. There are multiple different options for me to set up integration that includes using React JS, but there's also a Next JS guide. Not every single guide has full support for the framework you're using. It was confusing to figure out if I should use the native JS library or React, which is the preferred way. There were some instantiation issues, and the examples and documentation weren't too great. The initial setup was easy because there's an extra JS page, but integrating different features and functionalities became a little bit more complicated. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

What problems is PostHog solving and how is that benefiting you?

"Effortless Analytics Setup with Intuitive UI"

5/5

What do you like best about PostHog?

I like that PostHog makes it extremely easy to enable analytics by just adding a single file file. The onboarding process is one of the best I have seen, as it doesn't require switching between multiple windows and gives API keys directly in the onboarding flow. I also appreciate how intuitive the UI is and the value of user recordings for my use case. The feature of being able to quickly verify integrations and the simplicity of adding analytics are really beneficial. Switching from Google Analytics to PostHog was a relief because PostHog is more intuitive and offers a smoother experience. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

What do you dislike about PostHog?

I think the dashboard could be improved. There could be a more discoverable question mark icon which explains the entire chart for my specific app. Many times the titles are not directly very intuitive. Another thing is the onboarding could include a step that allows you to track custom objects, like whether the user is disabling a feature flag or not. Also, in the onboarding, there could be a copy button that allows you to directly provide the step to cloud code, removing the manual copying and pasting of code snippets. What problems is PostHog solving and how is that benefiting you?

I find PostHog provides a quick and easy way to enable analytics on my website, track user flows, and avoid complex backend tracking. The user recording feature helps me see how the platform is used and spot any issues. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

"Comprehensive Tool with Learning Curve"

4.5/5

What do you like best about PostHog?

I really like how PostHog is an all-in-one tool, which helps me by providing one flow from insight to root cause to fix. The same user context across everything means less tool hopping and faster decisions. This integration helps streamline our process significantly. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

What do you dislike about PostHog?

I find the learning curve with PostHog challenging. It can take time to understand the best way to model, and it feels a little overwhelming at first. Especially for newer folks, the product's power can cause them to get lost. We manage it by keeping things simple. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

What problems is PostHog solving and how is that benefiting you?

I use PostHog to understand user movement and solve the issue of not knowing why users drop off. It's an all-in-one tool that provides one flow from insight to root cause to fix, offering the same user context across everything and reducing tool hopping for faster decisions. "Intuitive Features, Helpful AI, and very easy to get started but Documentation Needs Clarity"

4.5/5

What do you like best about PostHog?

Very easy to understand the list of available features and what each does and to which use case it applies. Just as easy to integrate and start seeing results. And the interface to define reports is also pretty straightforward and where you encounter difficulties you have the PostHog AI that helps you figure things out. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

What do you dislike about PostHog?

I had some troubles with the documentation. I found some confusing information is some places about how to add custom data to the tracking event. I was eventually able to figure things out using PostHog AI, but the first impression I got trying to use the docs by myself was that the format of the event JSON needs to be a bit more clearly documented and a bit more consistent. What problems is PostHog solving and how is that benefiting you?

I use this for tracking product usage. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.
