Unlike other softwares that have you speak with chat bots, Plan Guru has real people with a depth of knowledge that makes the integration of our financial data into the software a breeze. I have only skimmed the surface of the many features that the program offers and am excited to learn more. Being able to create one excel document with a plethora of easily discernable KPI's and data sets has been such a game changer for executive reports. **What do you dislike about PlanGuru?** There are lots of features which definitely adds to the confusion I had at times. But the Plan Guru team was able to support me everytime I was a a bit stuck. **What problems is PlanGuru solving and how is that benefiting you?** Having all of our data in one place, having it be malleable, and being able to build larger reports relatively simply. ### 2. One of the best features is how quickly the software reacts to updates and changes and imports the data from our accoutning software.. I have yet to run into situation while building our model that a work around could not be found for something specific I needed. The support schedules are a great feature to build in detailed items such as personnel schedules etc. Overall I am very happy with PlanGuru....wish I had found it a little bit earlier. Also, the support staff is amazing, so willign to jump in and help and made theimplemenation piece go smoothly. **What do you dislike about PlanGuru?** The excel reporting can be a little tricky becuase of how percise it needs to be for the data to import. But anyone with strong excel skills should have no problem. **What problems is PlanGuru solving and how is that benefiting you?** Our current forecasting software was terrible, constantly breaking and havign to rebuild. Excel can work, but in my experience, it is too easy to make mistakes once you get into modeling multiple scenarios and utilize a lot of formulas. Also, PlanGuru adds a ton of reporting and the ability to budget at the beginning of the year and then have a separate forecast that I can adjust throughout the year based on recent performance. Additionally, using PlanGuru, I can dig into my budget and easily forecast on a per GL account, which I found difficult to maintain in Excel. Lastly, I can tell the tool was built with flexibility in mind, with lots of configuration available and even the ability to report directly in Excel, allowing me to continue to utilize Excel for those times when the canned reports are not enough to meet the need. The support offered by the PanGuru team has been outstanding. I rarely receive emails from a software company volunteering to provide support. They genuinely want their users to get the most out of their product. **What do you dislike about PlanGuru?** I haven't run into any downsides yet other than another software license to pay for. But it's well worth the money. **What problems is PlanGuru solving and how is that benefiting you?** The biggest problem I needed to solve was to be able to budget and forecast my financials, not utilizing Excel. Keeping bugs out of my spreadsheets was an ongoing challenge, and strategic financial planning is too important to rely on a tool that very possibly could contain errors. PlanGuru eliminated the need for me to maintain my own formulas and develop my own spreadsheets to maintain my budget and forecast different scenarios. ### 4. And last - but not least - the support is excellent! **What do you dislike about PlanGuru?** Bringing over actual data - and historical data - could use less key strokes. Before I switched to plan guru, I was using Excel. I would have to download several reports from QuickBooks and the slightest change in anything could cause the whole spreadsheet to not work. Plan Guru syncs QB so I only need to log in and press the import button to get all of the actuals I need to make future decisions. **What do you dislike about PlanGuru?** Nothing at the moment! I had an issue with it running extremely slow, but it was an issue on my side. I'm still setting up my budgets so I haven't ran into anything I dislike yet, but I'm sure with time I will be able to provide useful feedback to the team. **What problems is PlanGuru solving and how is that benefiting you?** Plan guru is helping me by providing a simple user interface to budget, forecast, and analyze actual data. It's a constant battle to adjust spreadsheets as businesses evolve over time. Additionally, regular reviews and improved forecasting methods are often difficult to layer back into any spreadsheet. I appreciate the ability of Plan Guru to lay out a base model that can then be refined without breaking the whole forecast. Starting with a simple trend growth or % of revenue COGS can be easily modified to incorporate key metrics, new variables, complex formulas or links to outside spreadsheets. **What do you dislike about PlanGuru?** It is still an evolving product, so some enhancements are needed, but the company listens to feedback and regularly adds meaningful enhancements. **What problems is PlanGuru solving and how is that benefiting you?** This has been a great tool when seeking new financing by demonstrating the need for LOC financing and an organization's ability to repay a short-term need. Also, I've used this to outline complex debt-restructuring options. This has also been an excellent tool for outlining the impact of acquisitions. In all these cases, the actual results can be compared to the initial forecasts so operating adjustments can be effectively managed to drive the desired outcomes. ### 12. We researched various budgeting/forecasting solutions, all of which seemed to be tailored to organizations much larger than ours (we are a 14-location/550-employee organization), and we were quickly priced out. Once we found Plan Guru, we quickly saw that their solution checked all the boxes at a price point we could easily justify. Beyond their offering and price point, we were beyond impressed by their desire to learn about our business and their kindness in scheduling personalized training sessions where they taught us the ins and outs of their solution. We have found Plan Guru to be very well designed and easy to use while still having the ability to execute company wide consolidations and complex forecasting methodologies using our specific KPIs. It is clear that Plan Guru has either thought through nearly every use case or has incorporated customer feedback in their platform updates, as they seem to have thought of it all. Since we began using Plan Guru one year ago, we have progressively experienced tremendous updates with improved functionality regularly. It is great to see that Plan Guru continues to invest in product improvement, and we continue to benefit from this investment. Before using Plan Guru, we attempted to forecast in Excel, however, it became so burdensome and manual in nature that we often took the "same as last year" approach. Recent history has been far from "same as last year," so we are thankful for the fact that Plan Guru has allowed us to forecast much more efficiently and measure our actual performance against budget with relative ease. Using Plan Guru has given us the insight we sought for many years without the massive time burden we became used to. We are grateful for Plan Guru and gladly recommend them to all looking for a top-notch budgeting and forecasting solution. **What do you dislike about PlanGuru?** After one full year of using Plan Guru, we have no pain points or "dislikes" to speak of. **What problems is PlanGuru solving and how is that benefiting you?** Our budgeting/forecasting/financial analysis process was inefficient prior to Plan Guru and, thus, ineffective. Plan Guru has given us the ability to spend far less time entering data, which has been channeled into thinking critically, creating attainable forecasts, and holding our teams accountable based on those forecasts subsequent to their input and agreement thereto. We were very price concious as we are working with 50+ clients. Planguru came in much more affordable than any other FP&A software we looked at, especially as we are looking to scale our client base. It's really pretty intuitive and we've been able to implement it on our own with minimal interaction with their support, but when we have they have been very helpful. **What do you dislike about PlanGuru?** Overall we like it a lot but if I had to be really picky Importing from QuickBooks works well but right now you have to log in to manually run to imports for each chart of accounts. They have mentioned some more automated imports are coming which will save us time **What problems is PlanGuru solving and how is that benefiting you?** Custom calcs in Excel became too tedious for us to maintain. As we wanted to offer FP&A services to more clients, we needed software that we could trust its calculations. The ability to roll up divisions and subsidiaries into multiple higher-level organizations is genuinely unique and welcome functionality for every project developer. **What do you dislike about PlanGuru?** The financial roll-up function, arguably the most potent part of the product, was only available in the traditional desktop software format. This made it difficult for multiple users to work together on the plan. I understand this functionality is now available in the latest online release. If it works as well as the desktop version, the product will become industry-leading! **What problems is PlanGuru solving and how is that benefiting you?** PlanGuru allows us to run multiple scenarios for our multi-billion dollar green energy development projects. Such projects often require numerous special purpose vehicles (SPVs), each with its budgeting and forecasting models that are independently prepared and matched by each SPV's appropriate subject matter experts. The software allowed us to look at the consolidated financials for multiple permutations of the entire project, where we swapped out versions of each subsidiary to optimize the project ROI. ### 21. Now with Planguru we were able to build it with our internal team, and now we understand what is actually driving what. Also with it's user permissions, we can give Department heads access to their department budgets without them seeing the other statements and accounts we don't want them to see. But honestly, the best thing has been whenever we've run into a question or issue their support has been excellent! **What do you dislike about PlanGuru?** The visualizations in reporting are not as sophisticated as some other reporting tools, but the more important standard table reports are perfect **What problems is PlanGuru solving and how is that benefiting you?** Building our budget in half the time, and also seeing how we are performing during the year with their Budget vs Actual reports. Having worked at setting up and developing a similar system previously which had a more "pedestrian" interface, comparing the two systems as a "layman" in financial planning Plan Guru's lack of "visual fluff" is actually a plus. **What problems is PlanGuru solving and how is that benefiting you?** I am now, after acquiring a small business three years ago, able to confidently budget and project the income statements and more importantly I can now confidently track and project cash flow. In a short amount of time spent with the supported set up (which was excellent and well worth the cost as a layman) I am now operating at a whole new level of analysis and planning for my business. All the "instinct" and knowledge and experience of the business and my industry is only valuable if I can back it up with numbers and properly make strategic choices based upon the various scenarios and Plan Guru is making that possible for me to do properly now. ### 24. Different forecasting methods are available and they're easy to use. The payroll utility allows you to enter each employee's pay and you can add a supporting schedule to expense accounts. Their website has a lot of tutorials available. My contact there has been very responsive when I need help. **What do you dislike about PlanGuru?** The payroll utility is only available on the desktop version right now and not the cloud version. The formatting on reports can be better. **What problems is PlanGuru solving and how is that benefiting you?** We used a complicated excel spreadsheet before PlanGuru. It provides great features like Budgeting and Financial Analytics, Rolling Forcast and Strategic planning. **What do you dislike about PlanGuru?** PlanGuru is excellent software, but it is costly for small companies. It charges $99 per month for each user. That is relatively high for the small size of businesses. They should provide some free service also. **What problems is PlanGuru solving and how is that benefiting you?** I use PlanGuru for my company's cash flow management, budgeting and financial planning. PlanGuru provides the best reports, analytics and data for cash flow management and planning purposes. ### 27.
