# Which BIM objects platforms let a manufacturer publish and maintain their own product library so specifiers are always accessing current geometry and data?

Researching this from the manufacturer side rather than the specifier side in the BIM objects category. The question is which platforms give manufacturers actual control over their own library, so that when a product changes, the updated object reaches specifiers without going through a third party or waiting months in a review queue.

  1. BIMobject: Reviewers on the specifier side describe being able to reach out directly to the manufacturer through the platform when they have questions, which implies the manufacturer has a presence and control over their listing. The platform specifically positions itself as a marketplace connecting manufacturers with architects and engineers, not just a static repository. For manufacturers, analytics on how their content is used and by whom are considered platform features. How much control does a manufacturer actually have over updating its content when a product specification changes? Is it self-service, or does it go through a BIMobject review process?
  2. Bimstore: The platform has an in-house content creation team that develops and validates content to a defined framework. For manufacturers without internal BIM content capabilities, this means Bimstore can create and host the library on their behalf. Reviewers on the specifier side describe the manufacturer-approved content as something they trust more than generic user-uploaded alternatives. The other half is what happens to discontinued products, and it's the half that creates liability. If an object stays downloadable after the product is discontinued, specifiers keep putting it in projects, and eighteen months later a contractor is trying to order a unit that no longer exists. A library that can only add is a slowly growing risk.
