Unlike generic CRM or ERP tools adapted for compliance use, PICTUS is designed from the ground up around the workflows, data structures, and regulatory requirements that stewardship programs actually run on. The platform covers the full program lifecycle: participant registration and onboarding, recurring sales filing and remittance, claims processing and adjudication, compliance monitoring, automated communications, and analytics and reporting. Modules work together or can be adopted incrementally, so organizations can start with what they need today and expand as programs grow or regulations change. PICTUS uses a configuration-first architecture, meaning programs adapt to regulatory change through configuration rather than custom code. Its EPR-native data model is built around programs, jurisdictions, participants, materials, and filings — not generic customer or transaction records. Centralizes Multi-Province Reporting, But Needs Improvement **Rating:** 3.0/5.0 stars **Reviewed by:** Nathalie T. | Small-Business (50 or fewer emp.) **Reviewed Date:** June 30, 2026 **What do you like best about PICTUS?** Our members can access PICTUS once and reach all of the associations that they are members in. At the beginning, only log in and a members possibly had 9 provinces he could access at once. Most of our members are throughout Canada, and that's something they really appreciate. I also like the fact that the Associations also sees where a company is a member and can question the fact that they are not members in such and such provinces. Before, reports from members were sent to each association and it was the associations responsability to enter the members data in our accounting system manually. **What do you dislike about PICTUS?** Audits What doesn't work for me is the data when a member is audited. We often have to go back in time and generate reports according to the period that member was audited. You also have to play with the dates, the date when a member started selling vs when he's audited and actually started selling. Annual filers Rate changes don't specifically occur at the beginning of a year but mostly at quarter 2. So for our annual filers, that is a problem since only one report is generated at the beginning of the year. For the associations, it's a lot of work since we must change that member from a yearly filer to a quarterly filer. Then Pictus generates 4 reports to reflect all rates. One report should be generated with all rates for that year and a member could enter for example quantities sold in Q1 and all the rest in the nine remaining months. **What problems is PICTUS solving and how is that benefiting you?** Members sent reports by hand and I entered everything; now members do the work themselves. ### 2. Its strengths include strong alignment with stewardship program requirements, self-service functionality for registrants, configurable workflows for claims and compliance, and built-in analytics. The system reduces administrative burden, improves data integrity and auditability, and supports consistent, defensible reporting. User feedback also indicates high satisfaction and ease of use, which is critical for our external stakeholders. Pictus also supports API based data uploads, which allows a pathway to integrate with external systems, such as the current field data collection system. PICTUS provides solid foundational capabilities in reporting and analytics but currently has limited use of AI or advanced predictive tools. The system relies primarily on rules-based processing rather than intelligent automation but this is changing as the Pictus team has signaled these tools are coming. Vendor support is generally responsive and engaged, supported by user resources and ongoing improvements. Performance is stable for core financial, claims, and compliance functions. **What do you dislike about PICTUS?** As an agnostic product software solution the inability to tailor some terminology to us is limited but this is a minor inconvenience. The only other item is that some core workflows are not fully digitized end-to-end, particularly in field data collection (not offered) and claims intake (a TSBC decision due to our own financial constraints, not that of the platform or the Pictus team). **What problems is PICTUS solving and how is that benefiting you?** PICTUS solves the core business challenge of operating a complex, regulated EPR program by providing an integrated platform for fee collection, claims processing, compliance tracking, and reporting. It centralizes data from multiple stakeholders, replaces fragmented and partially manual processes with structured workflows, and enables consistent, auditable decision-making. For TSBC, this translates into improved data integrity, reduced administrative effort, stronger regulatory defensibility, and more reliable reporting to the Board and Ministry. While some processes remain partially manual, PICTUS provides the foundational system required to manage the program at scale. All of this translates into cost savings for TSBC and the users as it has moved manual processes into quick and easy automated processes. It has also significantly reduced our environmental footprint with less paper use. ### 3.
