"Used Pics.io since 2020, looking for alternatives now"
0/5
What do you like best about PICS.IO?

We've been using Pics.io since 2020. We signed up on their microplan and overall it worked. Initially, you had to tag things manually, but it was cumbersome, so our team moved away from it. The big benefit was that it's built on Google Drive, so you can get very inexpensive storage and use Pics.io on top of it. If Google doesn't generate a thumbnail, then Pics.io doesn't have a thumbnail either. Now Pics.io has the ability to create thumbnails manually. So I asked them if they could add an automated feature, because the software is capable of doing so. They told me they could do it if I would pay for it out of pocket, but then the feature would be available for every other customer too. Other features that we asked for, they implemented after years, and by that time we'd found alternative workflows around the issues we had initially. Lately, they've tried to upsell us constantly on their own storage service versus Google, but it costs roughly a hundred times more than what we're paying right now with Google. They offer lots of features, but with many of them, you can tell that they were just created by developers, not by actual users. For example, they introduced a feature whereby you can make annotations and notes in videos, which is supposed to help video editors and reviewers get something out faster. The problem was it was so cumbersome, and every step required so many clicks that it took up four times as much time as doing it in Vimeo, for example. They also provide AI features, like transcribing the videos you have in the library, but these services are extremely expensive, and you can get this for free now on YouTube and many other places, so be prepared to overpay. Another important thing to notice too is that whenever you sign up for a plan, you're only signing up for the current feature set—new features are only available if you sign up for their new, more expensive plans. They don't grandfather you in. What's even funnier is there's no technical limitation to giving you those features—it's just their decision not to provide them to you. Here is what they said in an email: "Just to clarify, we can manually enable newer features on legacy accounts when needed, for example to let customers test them, as we’ve done here. However, new features are generally released as part of our current plans and aren’t automatically added to legacy plans. Legacy plans remain on their existing feature set for that reason." Their support is responsive, but they often don't really understand the issue and can be rather complicated in addressing it. It always turns into a long back and forth. If they finally comprehend and understand the issue, it takes months, if not years, to fix them. In rare cases, they also do it more quickly. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

"Pics.io: Intuitive DAM with Powerful Search and Outstanding Support"
5/5
What do you like best about PICS.IO?

We've been using Pics.io for over a decade, and it's been a fantastic addition to our workflow. As a growing organization, we need a digital asset management system that can keep pace with our expanding library of images, and Pics.io has consistently delivered.

The interface is clean and intuitive, which matters a lot when we have thousands of assets coming in from varying places. Pics.io really shines in the search and organization functions: metadata tagging, filtering, and categorization tools make it much easier to locate the assets we need. Beyond the platform itself, the Pics.io team has been outstanding. They're consistently responsive, patient, and genuinely helpful whenever we've had questions or run into an edge case. Without fail, we get thoughtful answers from people who clearly know the product well. That level of service has made a real difference in how much we trust the platform for day-to-day work. Pics.io is an invaluable asset to our operations system and we cannot thank them enough! Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

What do you dislike about PICS.IO?

There is not much to complain about! The ai features need some training but that makes sense as they are still so new. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

What do you like best about PICS.IO?

Powerful features and extremely price worthy. The granular tier model was one of the key reasons why we ultimately chose Pics.io, because we simply can't pay for unnecessary bells and whistles. With Pics.io, we get exactly what we need and for a great price! Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

What do you dislike about PICS.IO?

I don't dislike anything. There are of course features we'd like to have that doesn't yet exist, but the product team has been very accommodating. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

"Effective Photo Management with Costly AI Kit"
4/5
What do you like best about PICS.IO?

I love the awesome facial recognition feature in PICS.IO. It really helps us as a school to easily send pictures of students to parents. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

What do you dislike about PICS.IO?

The AI kit is super expensive. Also, they send 100s of emails a day. Also, if you reach your asset limit, they upgrade you without telling you. The initial setup was complicated, and we had to learn how to use it and name thousands of faces. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

"Great solution for Digital Asset Management"
5/5
What do you like best about PICS.IO?

Great customer support, fast responses. Very easy implementation; we were up and running in a day, and the learning curve is fast, plus, online support is always there if you get stuck. The feature rich interface is customizable and polished. We have a lot of digital assets, and they get increasingly hard to manage as we have expanded our team. Having a good "DAM" is essential for keeping our workflow going and saving time searching for content. Our team utilizes this interface multiple times a day, it is an essential tool for our productivity. Being able to preview every file type (apart from a Zip file) is amazing. There is even integrated editing software for those that don't already have something native on their computer. Ai option for keyword generation, publish for public or keep files save for internal use only. The list goes on and on. Highly recommend PIC.IO. What do you dislike about PICS.IO?

Hosting costs, so we moved hosting to Google Drive but we kept the PICS.IO interface Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.
