## PhotoShelter for Brands Reviews
 ### 1. A Refined, Professional Portal for Showcasing and Organizing Campus Marketing Work

**Rating:** 4.5/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Jay R. | Director of Digital Content, Mid-Market (51-1000 emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** July 14, 2026

**What do you like best about PhotoShelter for Brands?**

As the Marketing and production team for our campus, it provides a refined and professional portal and user experience for us to store and promote all of the work that we do to cover events, programs, and Marketing intiatives with our internal and external communities.

**What do you dislike about PhotoShelter for Brands?**

The unfortunate climate that we experience, of late, is that Photoshelter is already a great tool that doesn't need additional levels of prompting or AI tools. It stands alone as a highly effective repository and the meta tagging allows for a powerful organizational and research possibilities without the constant update/reminder/annoyance of prompts. It's that simple.

**What problems is PhotoShelter for Brands solving and how is that benefiting you?**

It is promising to have the video and additional resource organizational tools to be developed and shared. We currently rely on organization of photos and the performance is perfect. However, we have a future obstacles to overcome with regard to archiving and organizing other digital assets like videos, graphics, templates, etc. Right now, the services offered match the price that we are willing to pay.

 ### 2. Smart AI Search and Effortless Drag-and-Drop Uploads with PhotoShelter

**Rating:** 4.5/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Ashley C. | Senior Multimedia Producer, Mid-Market (51-1000 emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** July 02, 2026

**What do you like best about PhotoShelter for Brands?**

I really like the AI/intelligence PhotoShelter offers. It helps our College quickly find images that might not have specific metadata attached to them. I like the ease of upload as well, that I can just drag and drop images into a folder and don't have to search from a drop down menu where they might live.

**What do you dislike about PhotoShelter for Brands?**

I dislike that I currently don't totally understand all of the features that PhotoShelter has to offer, or even what ours has to offer. I feel as though there was no real onboarding with how to use things. While I know that PhotoShelter is able to be tailored for "our" needs, I think we just aren't/weren't sure what those could or are. Having someone help us figure that out more would be helpful.

**What problems is PhotoShelter for Brands solving and how is that benefiting you?**

Being able to quickly find and search for an image that doesn't have specific metadata attached to it ("red jacket in snow") is super helpful not only to our department but across the college. Same goes for the People ID. This AI tool has become so handy with finding people who might not be tagged in the caption.

 ### 3. Robust Metadata Benefits, But Portal Glitches Persist

**Rating:** 4.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Adam K. | Multimedia Producer, Mid-Market (51-1000 emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** July 16, 2025

**What do you like best about PhotoShelter for Brands?**

I think PhotoShelter for Brands is an excellent product. It lets our team at New England Conservatory organize and upload our photo assets, and we're interested in storing video and documents as well. The reason why it's so good is because of its robust keywording features and metadata, which help keep things organized. Especially when we have many ads, particularly with print and social media, we need to target specific groups and instruments. We can quickly search using the AI search feature, which we love to use. I also really like how the new Lumen portal looks and feels. Overall, I think it's fantastic.

**What do you dislike about PhotoShelter for Brands?**

I do run into a lot of glitches sometimes with the portal. Things like duplicating themselves, and the drop downs on the left not quite working right. Sometimes it'll randomly refresh, show up out of order, or be very jumpy, so I just wish it was a little cleaner. I'm not really a big fan of the organizational stuff like moving and duplicating galleries; it feels like a little bit of an afterthought, and I'd love to be able to organize our folders more quickly.

**What problems is PhotoShelter for Brands solving and how is that benefiting you?**

PhotoShelter for Brands organizes our photo assets with robust keywording and metadata features, making it easy to target specific groups. We use its AI search feature to find specific instruments quickly, but we struggle with portal glitches and gallery sharing workflows.

 ### 4. Lightroom Classic Integration That Streamlines Sharing in Seconds

**Rating:** 4.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Rami D. | Senior Photographer, Enterprise (> 1000 emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** April 07, 2026

**What do you like best about PhotoShelter for Brands?**

The Lightroom Classic integration has been a game-changer for our workflow. I can publish assets directly to our brand library without leaving Lightroom, eliminating manual exports and saving real time every week.
Sharing with stakeholders is equally impressive. A quick share link gives clients and team members access to clean, professional galleries without needing an account. What used to take email chains now takes seconds.
The platform is powerful for admins but approachable for stakeholders who just need to view or download assets. That balance is rare and genuinely appreciated.

**What do you dislike about PhotoShelter for Brands?**

Occasional performance issues can disrupt the workflow. The site sometimes loads slowly and requires logging out and back in to resolve, which is a minor but noticeable friction point during busy periods.
The bigger frustration is the pricing on AI/Intelligence features. The benefits are clear and compelling, but the cost is high enough that budget conversations rarely get past the price point. For departments without enterprise-level budgets, it feels like a valuable tier that stays just out of reach.

**What problems is PhotoShelter for Brands solving and how is that benefiting you?**

PhotoShelter for Brands has streamlined two core challenges for our team: asset delivery and asset management. Having a centralized library means files are organized, findable, and ready to share without digging through drives or email threads.
The real benefit scales with adoption. The more stakeholders and team members learn to navigate and find assets themselves, the less time our team spends fielding requests and manually sending files. Self-sufficiency across the organization is the goal, and PhotoShelter makes that achievable.

 ### 5. PhotoShelter: Outstanding Support, Strong AI Investment, and Great Value

**Rating:** 5.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Steven B. | Freelance Photographer, Enterprise (> 1000 emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** June 14, 2026

**What do you like best about PhotoShelter for Brands?**

Most importantly the customer support. Next would be the investment they apply to AI, performance and integrations. Along with those subjects, they are steadily work to create a better UX for the customer and end user. PhotoShelter is hands down the best product for the cost.

**What do you dislike about PhotoShelter for Brands?**

PhotoShelter is in the process of moving to a new UX. With that comes random growing pains that need to be attended too. On the positive side of that, I feel PhotoShelter listens to the customer to fix those issues quickly and listen to improvement suggestions.

**What problems is PhotoShelter for Brands solving and how is that benefiting you?**

PhotoShelter for Brands AI Visual Search is a game changer in how it benefits myself and my users. On top of the metadata we enter, the AI Visual Search allows us to find assets through long tail and conceptual searches. On another level, combining facial recognition with AI Visual Search, almost makes metadata irrelevant.

 ### 6. Reliable Digital Asset Management with Automated Metadata and Reliable Support

**Rating:** 5.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Noah M. | Creative Content Producer, Mid-Market (51-1000 emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** July 02, 2026

**What do you like best about PhotoShelter for Brands?**

PhotoShelter for Brands allows easy and accessible digital asset management. PhotoShelter's 'People ID' automated metadata not only improves workflow, but allows for others to easily locate and download specific assets. Customer support at PhotoShelter is extremely easy and reliable when running into any problems, or when introducing a new feature. Support has been extremely helpful when getting setup as an administrator, as well as answering any questions.

**What do you dislike about PhotoShelter for Brands?**

Although PhotoShelter is extremely helpful and reliable, it can seem a little expensive with additional add-ons such as extra storage space and advanced automated features

**What problems is PhotoShelter for Brands solving and how is that benefiting you?**

PhotoShelter for Brands solves the digital asset housing problem. Administrators are able to easily organize assets. It also helps to improve on workflow through automated metadata, and the distribution on content.

 ### 7. Effortless Image Organization, Needs Bulk Download Improvement

**Rating:** 4.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Patrick B. | IT admin, Mid-Market (51-1000 emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** November 01, 2022

**What do you like best about PhotoShelter for Brands?**

I like organizing images and using the search to find them. The search is very easy, and I also appreciate the ability to share what we want to share. Setting up PhotoShelter for Brands was also easy.

**What do you dislike about PhotoShelter for Brands?**

It is sometimes difficult to download the images I am searching for in bulk. Some UI interface improvements in searching and being able to select the images you want to download. It is a little pricey but does the job.

**What problems is PhotoShelter for Brands solving and how is that benefiting you?**

I use PhotoShelter for Brands to store and organize our product and installation images. It makes organizing and searching images easy, and I like the ability to share selected images.

 ### 8. Organized Visual Asset Management with Minor Frustrations

**Rating:** 4.5/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Abigail W. | Strategic Communications Graphic Designer and Photographer, Mid-Market (51-1000 emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** July 02, 2026

**What do you like best about PhotoShelter for Brands?**

I use PhotoShelter for Brands as Columbia College's centralized photo library, and I like that it helps our campus photography archive feel organized, accessible, and genuinely useful. It allows multiple departments to easily find and download approved images on their own, saving me time, ensuring a professional photo delivery, and supporting Columbia College long after each shoot is finished.

**What do you dislike about PhotoShelter for Brands?**

Some features could be more intuitive, especially around permissions, folder organization, and user management. I also prefer the Classic Library and do not like that I have to switch it over every single time I use the site. That is probably the most frustrating feature.

**What problems is PhotoShelter for Brands solving and how is that benefiting you?**

PhotoShelter for Brands organizes our large campus photo archive, making it searchable and easy to share. It streamlines access to high-quality images for various departments, saving me time and supporting visual storytelling across the campus.

 ### 9. Streamlines Brand Asset Management with Ease

**Rating:** 4.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** VINCENT B. | Chief Marketing Officer, Mid-Market (51-1000 emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** May 18, 2023

**What do you like best about PhotoShelter for Brands?**

I use PhotoShelter for Brands as an effective catalogue for brand assets, especially images and video. It's easy to use and intuitive in design, which helps equip my teams to make their jobs better, easier, and more effective. It allows all team members access to our catalogue of images, making us more efficient as a small team and helping us make better use of our time.

**What do you dislike about PhotoShelter for Brands?**

Personally, I'd like to see it help us code images faster and easier to make search better and faster. It may very well do that, but I have not experienced that yet.

**What problems is PhotoShelter for Brands solving and how is that benefiting you?**

I use PhotoShelter for Brands as an effective catalog for brand assets, enabling efficient access across our campus for MarComm colleagues. It helps my team be more efficient, making better use of our time.

 ### 10. AI Search Unified Our Asset Management

**Rating:** 4.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Verified User | Enterprise (> 1000 emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** June 30, 2026

**What do you like best about PhotoShelter for Brands?**

It gives us a singular repository for all of our visual assets, regardless of how they were taken or where they were temporarily stored. We now have one single location that all of our department PIOs can search and find exactly what they need for social media posts, print material, and so on. It's easy to upload, sort, and share assets. My favorite feature is the AI-powered search. We no longer have to spend hours tagging each asset, and the AI-powered search can sift through our thousands of assets and find what we need quickly. Departments are typically very siloed, so historically it was almost impossible or very time consuming to share photos from one department to another, but because of the AI-powered search, we no longer have to sift through another department's folders. We can search with very simple terms to find anything. Keeping the terms simple and general has worked out best for us. The setup was very easy. Creating folders and galleries, as well as setting permissions, was straightforward.

**What do you dislike about PhotoShelter for Brands?**

I don't like the limited amount of admin/manager users for our current pricing tier. We are unable to have each department PIO make their own folders/galleries, move things around, etc. It falls on a single person to do most of the admin. It does create a bottleneck at times. It's also more easily forgotten by the PIO as a task they should be doing regularly. Sometimes the AI struggles with artworks, particularly sculptures, but that is understandable. My only reason for not providing a 10 is the limited admin/manager seats and the high cost of adding more.

**What problems is PhotoShelter for Brands solving and how is that benefiting you?**

It gives us one single repository for all our visual assets that all our department PIOs can search with AI. We no longer spend hours tagging each asset, and we don't have to sift through another department's siloed folders to find what we need.

 ### 11. Fast Load Times, Brilliant AI Search, and Easy Asset Management in PhotoShelter

**Rating:** 4.5/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Verified User in Leisure, Travel & Tourism | Mid-Market (51-1000 emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** April 10, 2026

**What do you like best about PhotoShelter for Brands?**

PhotoShelter has been a great place for us to collate all of our video and photography in one spot. Compared with our previous software, the faster load times in PhotoShelter are really noticeable. As soon as we open a folder, the images are there straight away, which helps keep our workflows moving quickly and means the platform doesn’t slow our team down. The AI search is also unbelievably good. It has saved us time as we no longer need to add lots of tags to our images, instead we can use the AI search as it quickly and accurately picks out objects/activities in the image. The overall system is easy to use and the support from the team has always been great whenever we've had any questions.

**What do you dislike about PhotoShelter for Brands?**

I find the difference between Collections and Galleries less intuitive than hoped. For a start, the two words mean the same thing, so it's already confusing to explain to our new users. I think simplifying this approach would be really beneficial. Make it really clear where the photo physically exists, and then also make it really clear that when it is in a 'Gallery' that it isn't another copy of that image, but instead links back to the original, so each photo only exists once, only has one reference number and one location.

**What problems is PhotoShelter for Brands solving and how is that benefiting you?**

We have thousands and thousands of images for our organisation, and we use them to represent different products, ages, activities, genders etc. Using Photosheleter, especially the tags and the AI search means that we save valuable time every single day, finding the image we need quickly and easily. The time saving is a great ROI, as over the year each incremental time saving really adds up!

 ### 12. Not Enough Flexibility or Efficiency for Viewing/Sharing Permissions

**Rating:** 2.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Verified User in Higher Education | Enterprise (> 1000 emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** April 08, 2026

**What do you like best about PhotoShelter for Brands?**

I appreciate that the metadata is stored with each file, that you can see which folder(s) each photo is located in, and that you can organize a photo into multiple project folders without having duplicate files.

**What do you dislike about PhotoShelter for Brands?**

The sharing permissions are extremely finicky, they're difficult to set up and to maintain. It seems like every time I add new content to a folder that a specific user group is supposed to be able to access at every level, they can't see any of the new content and I have to completely reset permissions for the whole project folder. I've asked customer service reps to help me troubleshoot this, and they patched over the issue with a "bandaid" solution that worked for the few folders we were looking at, but did not provide a long-term solution. Overall, it's very difficult to grant viewing and downloading permissions without either making everything public or making everything private. We work with external vendors frequently and want to be able to share certain photo albums with them without having them made public to anyone, and the Lightbox feature is too clunky. Lightboxes also seem to require individual permissions settings to view/download each photo, rather than one setting for the whole Lightbox. There's so much room for improvement with sharing features.

**What problems is PhotoShelter for Brands solving and how is that benefiting you?**

Organizing and storing high-resolution TIFF images in a central location where (most) people who need them can access them. It's helpful to be able to download the original TIFF file for print projects vs. a smaller JPEG for web/digital projects.

**Official Response from Jeremy Berkowitz:**

> Thanks for your review. We always appreciate honest feedback. Can we connect with you directly to address some of your concerns? If you reach out to brandssupport@photoshelter.com we can show you some features that may help your team. Workspaces, for example, can alleviate your frustrations with Lightboxes. If you're open to it, our team would love to connect.

 ### 13. Effortlessly Manages Our Digital Archive

**Rating:** 5.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Verified User

**Reviewed Date:** June 23, 2026

**What do you like best about PhotoShelter for Brands?**

I love how PhotoShelter for Brands keeps all of our images in a concise, single location that is easily searchable for many departments, allowing coworkers to find their own images without having to ask our photo staff for assistance. I appreciate the ease of the platform and how it is easy to use and customize to our needs. It makes designing a layout and implementing it easy for our photo team to keep a universal workflow, which is crucial since we handle hundreds, if not thousands, of images each week. The initial setup was very easy, partly because of my existing familiarity with the product from previous roles.

**What do you dislike about PhotoShelter for Brands?**

If invited users could change the sorting order on their end without affecting the sorting order for other users, that would be very helpful.

**What problems is PhotoShelter for Brands solving and how is that benefiting you?**

PhotoShelter for Brands keeps our images in a single, searchable location for easy access by many departments, reducing the need for assistance. It streamlines filing thousands of images weekly with easy design and implementation, supporting a universal workflow.

 ### 14. PhotoShelter Streamlined Our Workflow with Strong Support

**Rating:** 5.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Ollie P. | Content Creator - Photographer, Mid-Market (51-1000 emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** February 10, 2026

**What do you like best about PhotoShelter for Brands?**

Photoshleter has significantly improved our workflow and made it much easier for us to access the photo library we already have. It’s also given us the opportunity to build and grow our first DAM smoothly, and we’ve been able to do that with ease thanks to the team’s strong support.

**What do you dislike about PhotoShelter for Brands?**

Photoshelter is incredibly customizable for whatever your needs are. That flexibility is a big plus, but it can also feel overwhelming if you don’t already have some background in how DAMs work and how to use them to your advantage.

**What problems is PhotoShelter for Brands solving and how is that benefiting you?**

Time is of the essence for us at Merrimack, and we’ve reduced the time it takes to distribute assets. Overall, this has increased not only the amount of content we’re able to put out, but also its quality.

 ### 15. Super useful, great people to work with

**Rating:** 5.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Taris S. | Staff Photographer, Mid-Market (51-1000 emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** November 25, 2025

**What do you like best about PhotoShelter for Brands?**

Photoshelter is an amazing software that is super versatile and easy to teach to others. Photoshelter is the most used website in our department. Our reps are PS are also super helpful, responsive and care about our organization and how PS can fit us best with its use.

**What do you dislike about PhotoShelter for Brands?**

I do wish the platform had more affordable add ons, we love PS but we do spend a ton of money on it every year and would love to see more affordable integration options!

**What problems is PhotoShelter for Brands solving and how is that benefiting you?**

We shoot every game /event in our department and PS puts organization to everything we shoot. It is super user friendly and allows people who don't work in creative ease of access to images with its searchable data base. This makes our job alot easier not having to field photo pull requests everytime someone needs something, they have the ability to go in and search themselves.

 ### 16. Great for Asset Storage, Needs Navigation Improvements

**Rating:** 3.5/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Emily M. | Art Director + Designer, Mid-Market (51-1000 emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** April 14, 2026

**What do you like best about PhotoShelter for Brands?**

I appreciate that PhotoShelter for Brands lets me store InDesign files, PDFs, and other kinds of media, which is great. I also like having a thumbnail view because it's much more visual and intuitive compared to our current SharePoint system.

**What do you dislike about PhotoShelter for Brands?**

There's some UX navigations that are currently pretty confusing for me -- collections vs. galleries, and the public vs private links. Would love for these to be more intuitive.

**What problems is PhotoShelter for Brands solving and how is that benefiting you?**

I use PhotoShelter for Brands for storage and file organization, especially for InDesign files and PDFs. The visual thumbnails are more intuitive than our current Sharepoint system, making it easier to find files without manually previewing each one.

**Official Response from Jeremy Berkowitz:**

> Hi Emily, Thanks for sharing your feedback. We would love to find some time to connect with you directly. If we haven't already reached out, our team will be in touch so we can address your concerns.

 ### 17. Great product!

**Rating:** 5.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Derek L. | Digital Media Specialist, Small-Business (50 or fewer emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** October 01, 2024

**What do you like best about PhotoShelter for Brands?**

The AI search function makes finding a photo quick and easy.

**What do you dislike about PhotoShelter for Brands?**

Managing access to invited users is a little tricky.

**What problems is PhotoShelter for Brands solving and how is that benefiting you?**

Storage and accessibility for photos.

 ### 18. AI-Powered Photo Organization with Room for Sorting Improvement

**Rating:** 4.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Kaitlin . | Mid-Market (51-1000 emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** April 07, 2026

**What do you like best about PhotoShelter for Brands?**

I love how PhotoShelter for Brands makes it easier to organize photos for our university. It helps us find the photos we need faster and keeps them organized. I really appreciate the AI search feature. Sometimes our photos aren't tagged the way we search for them, so the AI search helps with that.

**What do you dislike about PhotoShelter for Brands?**

It is not always sorted by year, and sometimes photos that are old pop up when we don't want them to.

**What problems is PhotoShelter for Brands solving and how is that benefiting you?**

PhotoShelter for Brands helps us find photos faster and keeps them organized. The AI search feature makes it easier to find what we need, even if photos aren't tagged correctly.

 ### 19. Streamlined Asset Management with Room for Improvement

**Rating:** 4.5/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Josh L.

**Reviewed Date:** November 25, 2025

**What do you like best about PhotoShelter for Brands?**

I really enjoy the look and feel of PhotoShelter for Brands more than anything else; it significantly enhances the aesthetic experience while using it. The workspace feature is another aspect I appreciate a lot. It not only makes my work more enjoyable but also simplifies processes for others by reducing the need for frequent photo requests. The simplified usage prevents people from being overwhelmed, especially when dealing with specific requests, making the platform user-friendly and not perceived as overly complex or daunting. Overall, these aspects have greatly improved my workflow and ease of use.

**What do you dislike about PhotoShelter for Brands?**

The search bar and searching of tags in PhotoShelter for Brands is not intuitive. Users often give up after a few tries as it is not as effective as expected, particularly with AI. It feels repetitive with images, and there should be a simpler way to eliminate or not display duplicate images.

**What problems is PhotoShelter for Brands solving and how is that benefiting you?**

I use PhotoShelter for Brands to efficiently distribute image assets across departments, streamline graphic design and social media processes, and provide proofs for sales and sponsorship. It helps manage images for events, reduces photo requests, and is user-friendly in showcasing collections.

 ### 20. Easy to share pictures

**Rating:** 4.5/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Verified User in Higher Education | Enterprise (> 1000 emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** September 24, 2024

**What do you like best about PhotoShelter for Brands?**

I work in a state university, so there's a really large amount of images that are shared between different groups, with different levels of access for different images. PhotoShelter helps keep track of everything and provides a great point of access for our image library. AI-assisted search also helps find images that aren't labelled properly.

**What do you dislike about PhotoShelter for Brands?**

I would like for it to be easier to search for images.

**What problems is PhotoShelter for Brands solving and how is that benefiting you?**

It provides a single point of access for a very large library of images my instution owns.

 ### 21. Centralized Asset Management, But Permissions and Search Need Improvement

**Rating:** 3.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Verified User in Higher Education | Enterprise (> 1000 emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** November 20, 2025

**What do you like best about PhotoShelter for Brands?**

Our assets used to be stored on many different computers and locations. It's so helpful to have one central location for most of our assets. My co-workers were always looking for photos and now it's easy to direct them to where they are in our library or they can do a simple search themselves.

**What do you dislike about PhotoShelter for Brands?**

Setting up permissions for users to access different folders can be a cumbersome and confusing process. Also, search results don't always appear right away and show up as grey boxes. This is not good UX if we want our users to keep coming back.

**What problems is PhotoShelter for Brands solving and how is that benefiting you?**

Our assets used to be stored on many different computers and locations. It's so helpful to have one central location for most of our assets. We used to work in silos but Photoshelter helps us to work much more collaboratively. We have our library set up so that users from around our university are able to upload their own photos and assets that they believe will be useful for all of the communications staff. We create a lot of social media posts so the tool that crops photos to common social media image sizes is very helpful and saves us a lot of time.

 ### 22. Photoshelter, a successful way to manage your assets

**Rating:** 5.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Verified User in Higher Education | Mid-Market (51-1000 emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** June 15, 2026

The photoshelter database allows our customers easy access to our photos and the ability to download them at specific resolutions.

**What do you dislike about PhotoShelter for Brands?**

The software will not allow me to keyword images individually or batched, the app used to allow this. The portal window does not seem to allow sorting, though the library window will.

**What problems is PhotoShelter for Brands solving and how is that benefiting you?**

The software provides customers with a better graphical interface than the previous applications we used.

 ### 28. Easy to Use, Essential Photo & Video Storage with Great Platform Partnerships

**Rating:** 4.5/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Verified User in Higher Education | Enterprise (> 1000 emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** June 12, 2026

**What do you like best about PhotoShelter for Brands?**

It is easy to use and provides many partnerships with other platforms

**What do you dislike about PhotoShelter for Brands?**

Sometimes I can't get back to the original image without clicking on it twice. We've tried to fix that but have had no luck.
Photoshelter provides video and photo storage which is essential to a brand now.

**What problems is PhotoShelter for Brands solving and how is that benefiting you?**

For us and probably for most brands, Photoshelter is the best method to keep assets organized and searchable

 ### 29. Has helped us scale our photography assets

**Rating:** 4.5/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Debbie M. | Digital Strategy Manager, Mid-Market (51-1000 emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** July 22, 2025

**What do you like best about PhotoShelter for Brands?**

I appreciate the excellent customer service, their search features, the AI image tagging, PeopleID, and the permissions controls.

Prior to switching to the platform, we were a bit of a mess with our photo assets, with photos living in different places, and finding the right image was a challenge. We moved to PhotoShelter for Brands and brought on a photography coordinator and we've been able to stay very well organized in an ever-growing collection of visual assets for our organization.

As a communications team, we are able to find the right file quickly, share it as needed, and get back to producing our work. I use it multiple times a week and often help onboard other teammates to the system. It's allowed us to gather assets from volunteers in a simple and streamlined way, too.

**What do you dislike about PhotoShelter for Brands?**

The Workspaces feature is weak. We needed an easy solution for multiple team members to be able to pull potential assets for review and collaboration, and when we tried the Workspaces feature, it did not meet our needs.

Not having a set of included Admin seats is a downside as well. We have to pay for users to be able to have features that only Admins have access to, such as being notified of uploads, or being able to set permissions for Workspaces for collaboration.

Lastly, some of the platform terminology can be a little confusing for the uninitiated.

**What problems is PhotoShelter for Brands solving and how is that benefiting you?**

Our Communications team is tasked with storytelling for our organization, including the production of a quarterly printed magazine full of photos of events and outreach effort recaps. PhotoShelter for Brands has absolutely helped us manage our asset library and produce high quality impact reports and promotional materials.

 ### 30. Confusing at first until you spend 100 hours on it

**Rating:** 3.5/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Monika C. | Content Strategist & CMS Specialist, Enterprise (> 1000 emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** October 01, 2024

**What do you like best about PhotoShelter for Brands?**

I like PhotoShelter's organizational capabilities. It's great on how you can create as many levels of collections and galleries. For us working at a University, we thought it would be best to organize our photos by year, semester, and then event. That's really helped people get them to where they need. I also like how granular you can get with permissions, individually or by group or even by photo or collection, etc. You can really customize PhotoShelter to what works best for you. There's more we'd like to explore which is the watermark feature and the new UI looks nice.

**What do you dislike about PhotoShelter for Brands?**

Onboarding onto PhotoShelter was really complicated and not user-friendly. You really did have to poke around and understand how organization and permissions worked. I'm also glad they are working on a new UI because it doesn't look modern, it looks very prehistoric. If you don't study the structure of PhotoShelter correctly, sharing our photos and galleries could get pretty fincky. I learned through trial and error and unfortunately not everyone has been nice about it.

**What problems is PhotoShelter for Brands solving and how is that benefiting you?**

For our university, it's allowing us to have a one-stop shop of all the photos we've taken from 2009 to now. It's worked great for historical archives, it's worked great for helping plan events from seeing how we've done it in the past, it's allowed us to be a lot faster in sharing photos. The whole entire university uses it and it allows our department (University Communications) control it. It's also great because we can make galleries private and keep those photos to ourselves for marketing purposes.

 ### 31. 5 Stars for Photoshelter

**Rating:** 5.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Sandra C. | Communications Specialist, Small-Business (50 or fewer emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** January 06, 2026

**What do you like best about PhotoShelter for Brands?**

Photoshelter has been useful in organizing our organization's content seamlessly. I appreciate the ability to tag, sort, and add keywords, which makes it easy for the team to find photos and videos they need quickly.

**What do you dislike about PhotoShelter for Brands?**

I do not dislike anything about Photoshelter.

**What problems is PhotoShelter for Brands solving and how is that benefiting you?**

Photoshelter allows us to share photos with external partners efficiently and helps us identify photos of key stakeholders with its tagging feature.

 ### 32. Quick and Easy for Higher Education!

**Rating:** 5.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Emma S. | Social Media Manager and Content Creator, Mid-Market (51-1000 emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** July 15, 2025

**What do you like best about PhotoShelter for Brands?**

The best parts about PhotoShelter for Brands, in my experience, are how easy the process of cataloguing photos is made, how helpful the AI search tool is, and how easy it is to share albums with our stakeholders. Once our photos are edited and tagged, uploading them into PhotoShelter takes only a few minutes. Creating new albums by year and by event helps for our archive, but also helps to send individual album links to students, faculty, and anyone who could use the photos. For alumni events, for example, it's as simple as sending a link to anyone in attendance and anyone with the link can download their own photo. Could easily add a password to more sensitive albums as well, like student headshots. Our university team also frequently relies on the AI Visual Search feature to significantly reduce time spent searching for an exact photo you need. For example, I can search "sunny campus", "student studying", "family smiling" and find a high quality photo in seconds. I can also simply search by file name or tags just as easily. Everyone on our marketing team uses PhotoShelter every day to search for photos. It also integrates seamlessly into our website to quickly pull photos for web updates.

**What do you dislike about PhotoShelter for Brands?**

It would be nice if PhotoShelter integrated with DropBox the way our tagging system does, PhotoMechanic. I'm not sure if PhotoShelter does have the capability, since the process my team uses has been in place for many years. Ideally, we could skip the middle man (PhotoMechanic – used for batch editing the metadata on our files in dropbox, which then gets put into PhotoShelter).

**What problems is PhotoShelter for Brands solving and how is that benefiting you?**

PhotoShelter makes it easier to catalogue the best of the best of our assets. It's almost strictly from our assets on PhotoShelter that my team pulls the 5-star photos used for all our marketing materials, compared to our "unfiltered" archive of assets elsewhere. It's also immensely helpful using AI Visual Search to find specific photos, not by tags or names. If I need a photo of students having a conversation, I can search that exact phrase and find a photo in seconds, rather than having to think of the right year and semester that we might've had a photo shoot that captured what I need for this print piece.

 ### 33. Keeping Teams Connected and Assets Organized

**Rating:** 5.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Sam C. | Associate Director, Visual Media and Web Strategy, Enterprise (> 1000 emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** July 11, 2025

**What do you like best about PhotoShelter for Brands?**

PhotoShelter Brands is an outstanding platform for managing and showcasing digital assets. It’s incredibly easy to use and intuitive, making it simple for teams of any size to get up and running quickly. The feature set is robust—AI-powered tagging for both photos and video saves countless hours by automatically organizing assets, while advanced AI search makes finding specific content effortless. Seamless integrations with popular tools keep workflows connected and efficient. The platform also makes it simple to collect user-generated content and provides a centralized system for distributing approved assets across channels. Overall, PhotoShelter Brands is a feature-rich solution that transforms how you collect, manage, and share your digital assets with your internal team, external audiences, and stakeholders.

**What do you dislike about PhotoShelter for Brands?**

I have no complaints about PhotoShelter Brands. Any issues or missing features I encountered over the years have been addressed or incorporated into their suite of services. The team is consistently responsive, receptive to ideas and feedback, and—most importantly—committed to taking action to improve the platform.

**What problems is PhotoShelter for Brands solving and how is that benefiting you?**

PhotoShelter for Brands has made it so much easier to keep our growing collection of digital assets organized and easy to share. Before, tracking down the right files or making sure everyone had the most up-to-date content could be a hassle. Now, the AI tagging and search tools save us a ton of time, and having everything in one place means we can quickly collect, manage, and distribute content without extra back-and-forth. It’s taken a lot of stress out of our workflow and helps our team and audience stay on the same page.

 ### 34. The Best Photo DAM around!

**Rating:** 4.5/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Ben Z. | Senior Coordinator Content Operations, Mid-Market (51-1000 emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** July 10, 2025

**What do you like best about PhotoShelter for Brands?**

The best thing about using PhotoShelter for Brands is how easy it is to find exactly the photo I’m looking for. The search function picks up on keywords, tags so I can narrow things down fast. Everything is organized in a way that just makes sense, so whether I need a shot from a specific event or a certain kind of image, I can get to it without wasting time digging around.

My team uses Photoshelter everyday and if any problems arise the custom support team is always there to help.

**What do you dislike about PhotoShelter for Brands?**

Switching between the Library, Portal, and Admin views in PhotoShelter can be a bit clunky and confusing, especially when you're trying to move quickly between tasks. It sometimes feels like you're jumping between separate systems instead of working within one platform. But with the rollout of the new Lumen view, everything is expected to become more streamlined and integrated. Once the full system is updated, navigating between different areas should feel a lot more seamless and intuitive.

**What problems is PhotoShelter for Brands solving and how is that benefiting you?**

We use PhotoShelter to share the thousands of photos we take each year with our whole organization. This includes the marketing, sales, partnerships, and leadership teams. It makes it easy for everyone to find and use the images they need without having to dig or ask around. Having everything in one place saves time and keeps things consistent across the board.

 ### 35. My trusted DAM for the last six years

**Rating:** 5.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Joseph G. | Director of Photography, Mid-Market (51-1000 emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** July 15, 2025

**What do you like best about PhotoShelter for Brands?**

It just makes sense. Feels similar to file folder structure on a computer. Intuitive organization. No weird icons or search methods or anything crazy. It's just how it should be.

**What do you dislike about PhotoShelter for Brands?**

I think it's sometimes difficult to do one-offs of things like permissions and general gallery sharing. I wish I could just generate a one-time use link and not have to worry about password protection all the time.

**What problems is PhotoShelter for Brands solving and how is that benefiting you?**

Live FTP. Image database for internal and external stakeholders. FileFlow is a huge help as well for on the go needs. Just wish we could share links from FileFlow instead of having to describe to our stakeholders where to go in the folder structure – would be nice to just send them a link. You all listen to us very well and do your best to address our issues which is always appreciated!

I think uploading images can be confusing at times.

Photo shelter allows me to conveniently store photos without worrying about them getting lost.

 ### 37. Easy to Navigate, Simple Sharing and Metadata Management

**Rating:** 3.5/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Verified User in Marketing and Advertising | Mid-Market (51-1000 emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** April 07, 2026

**What do you like best about PhotoShelter for Brands?**

It is very easy to navigate. Easy to share with users and add metadata.

**What do you dislike about PhotoShelter for Brands?**

I wish there was a download button on the images instead of having to go into them or use the actions dropdown.

**What problems is PhotoShelter for Brands solving and how is that benefiting you?**

Always us to have everything in one place.

**Official Response from Jeremy Berkowitz:**

> Thanks for the candid review. We've actually rebuilt the library and portal interface with improvements your team will notice immediately, including the download experience. If you reach out to brandssupport@photoshelter.com, we can show you what's changed.

 ### 38. Great Media Front-End and AI Search for Photography

**Rating:** 4.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed Date:** April 15, 2026

**What do you like best about PhotoShelter for Brands?**

Good front-end for media to view our photography, new AI search

**What do you dislike about PhotoShelter for Brands?**

back-end library is a bit slow. cost is very high

**What problems is PhotoShelter for Brands solving and how is that benefiting you?**

Easy upload for photographers at live events, good front-end viewing for media/presss

 ### 39. Convenient tool for mass pictures storage

**Rating:** 3.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Yulia K. | Creative Services Manager, Mid-Market (51-1000 emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** July 23, 2025

**What do you like best about PhotoShelter for Brands?**

I enjoy the accessibility of stored pictures for both vendors and our organization employees. We do have MS SharePoint, but because of privacy protocols, we are unable to create public links to share our content. We also use PhotoShelter SSO functionality, which allows us not to worry that any of our employees or our external vendors and stakeholders would have access issues without spending extra time on sharing [with public sharing settings].

**What do you dislike about PhotoShelter for Brands?**

From a technical /usability standpoint, some functionalities are limited or inconvenient. For example, when I tried to move Gallery to the Collection, which was on sublevel, it didn't move completely [it moved, but also stayed on the same level]. When I deleted it on the higher level, it disappeared from both levels, so I had to create a new collection in sub-level Collection - this way it worked ok. But I do see that the product team is working on improvements, so hopefully all those minor items will be fixed/improved in the foreseeable future.

**What problems is PhotoShelter for Brands solving and how is that benefiting you?**

As I mentioned before, accesibility for our photo assets is the most valuable thing. Ease of use for our vendors/contractors as well as team and all organization employees.

 ### 40. A good platform for a relatively low cost

**Rating:** 4.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Jimmy M. | Strategic Communications Manager, Enterprise (> 1000 emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** July 16, 2025

**What do you like best about PhotoShelter for Brands?**

The public portal is a great way to be able to select. The AI tagging and search features are very useful for searching through large amounts of files without spending too much time.

**What do you dislike about PhotoShelter for Brands?**

I wish we had more user seats for the price we pay. The limited number of editor seats makes for some potential complications for a team of more than a few people.

**What problems is PhotoShelter for Brands solving and how is that benefiting you?**

We have a large amount of photos that come from a variety of departments. We use PhotoShelter to help us categorize, organize and share out the photos to employees across the organization on an as-needed basis. It also helps in searching through a variety of photos.

 ### 41. Powerful Search Function That Delivers

**Rating:** 4.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Verified User in Marketing and Advertising | Enterprise (> 1000 emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** February 12, 2026

**What do you like best about PhotoShelter for Brands?**

PhotoShelter's search function is very powerful.

**What do you dislike about PhotoShelter for Brands?**

Invited users need to be able to work independently in their own Workspaces.

**What problems is PhotoShelter for Brands solving and how is that benefiting you?**

PhotoShelter for Brands is making it easier for our network to find photos, which enables us to allocate our efforts and resources in other areas.

 ### 42. My team's experience with PhotoShelter for Brands has been great.

**Rating:** 5.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Kelly J. | Senior Photographer, Enterprise (> 1000 emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** February 22, 2024

**What do you like best about PhotoShelter for Brands?**

The platform integrates with our workflow well, assets are easily accessible to stakeholders, and our users have no trouble navigating it. Our team's use PhotoShelter every day and adapted easily to it.

Also the curstomer support has been timely, intentional, and quite helpful. Our transition to PhotoShelter was also quite smooth. We have an internal Marketing team of nearly 90 people and our internal teams transitioned well.

**What do you dislike about PhotoShelter for Brands?**

Our teams would looooove more flexibility with Workspaces. Currently, invited users have no control over the workspaces they create without a Library staff member granting them permission to it.

Also, currently if a gallery or collection deviates from its root permissions, it will appear as a standalone gallery/collection in the Portal view. As you can imagine, this get's quite messy in appearance and the appeal of PhotoShelter for us was to be able to grant users permissions specifically and not necessarily grant them permission across the board. If they could still apear under their root collection despite permissions, that would be amazing.

Currently if pairing keyword searches (e.g. "Athletics & Football") when you initiate the search it will delete the second half of the search and only search "Athletics." You then have to add back "& Football" to complete the search.

**What problems is PhotoShelter for Brands solving and how is that benefiting you?**

1. Providing an easily accessible tool to deliver our internal assets through.
2. Images are no longer falling through the cracks with PhotoShelter functioning as our DAM as well as our delivery method.
3. Being able to add unlimited amounts of invited users and add them myself without putting in a ticket to IT is a huge for our team.
4. Giving specific permissions to specific users as opposed to giving a user access to all or nothing has been great.

 ### 43. Easy to use DAM for all levels

**Rating:** 5.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Brandon M. | Freelance Photographer, Mid-Market (51-1000 emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** July 22, 2025

**What do you like best about PhotoShelter for Brands?**

I have used Photoshetler for multiple sports organizations and it is one of the best in the industry. It is user friendly and easy to implement our entire organization into. Associate use it every day and are able to get the imagery they need for their projects in a timely manner.

**What do you dislike about PhotoShelter for Brands?**

None that I can think of! Every time we have ran into an issue Photoshetler has helped us with their customer service

**What problems is PhotoShelter for Brands solving and how is that benefiting you?**

They are always looking to improve the DAM and make it more efficient for everyone.

 ### 44. Difficult Access for Non-Admins Overshadows Great Tagging and AI Features

**Rating:** 2.5/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Verified User in Marketing and Advertising | Enterprise (> 1000 emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** November 20, 2025

**What do you like best about PhotoShelter for Brands?**

What I like the best is the optiong of tagging photos, the organization aspect of it all and the new AI tool. I also like that it gives you the option to re-size your photos when you are downloading them; however, I do think they need to update standard sizing for different popular formats.

**What do you dislike about PhotoShelter for Brands?**

When you are not an administrator, it is really hard to find specific folders to galleries or get/request access to these.

**What problems is PhotoShelter for Brands solving and how is that benefiting you?**

It is a safe option for cloud storage and sharing of photos across campus.

 ### 45. Complete & holistic photography organization solution.

**Rating:** 5.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Verified User in Sports | Mid-Market (51-1000 emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** May 11, 2023

**What do you like best about PhotoShelter for Brands?**

Eliminates the needs for multiple links from other asset storage solutions we deploy. Photoshelter is the first place I go to and if everything is tagged correctly, it's incredibly easy and fast to find.

**What do you dislike about PhotoShelter for Brands?**

It does take time to stand up the system properly to organize things in a way that's effective for all level of users. It's also imperative to train any photographers plugging into the system to tag photos the same way so search functions consistently across photographers.

**What problems is PhotoShelter for Brands solving and how is that benefiting you?**

Keeps all our photos in one place with tags for easy and quick searches to find what we're looking for. Has largely eliminated the need for separate archives across the organization.

 ### 46. 5 year user - Started from scratch

**Rating:** 4.5/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Taylor B. | Creative Director, Mid-Market (51-1000 emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** April 22, 2025

**What do you like best about PhotoShelter for Brands?**

My favorite thing about PhotoShelter is that it's reliable and functional. With so many new products coming out, most I've found have more bugs that solutions. Like anything, it's a learning process to figure out how you'd like the back end and user experience set up and doing the metadata work on the digital asset management piece – but when done correctly it's extremely easy to use. After a matchday, when I walk through the office, every single computer from every department has PhotoShelter up.

**What do you dislike about PhotoShelter for Brands?**

I think one of my growth points for PhotoShelter is the search ability function. There are times where I can search for keywords that I know are tagged on images and within folders where they should appear (or searching across all galleries and collections) and nothing will appear. Interested to learn how to avoid that. The last thing I will say is cost continues to go up as our archive grows which has made it more difficult to budget for as the years go on.

**What problems is PhotoShelter for Brands solving and how is that benefiting you?**

Allowing all parties, internal and external, that work with our organization to access our club's history and archive of photos easily. Photography is used across every department and is an extremely beneficial resource for every avenue of business.

 ### 47. Overall Satisfactory

**Rating:** 4.5/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Brittany E. | Graphic Designer in Strategic Communications, Mid-Market (51-1000 emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** February 02, 2023

**What do you like best about PhotoShelter for Brands?**

I like its organizational features, that we have control over how content is accessed, and how simple the overall onboarding process has been. We rarely have to help our users understand its functions - it's intuitive and needs very little explanation.

**What do you dislike about PhotoShelter for Brands?**

Sometimes gaining/providing access to outside users can be a bit of a confusing/convoluted process.

**What problems is PhotoShelter for Brands solving and how is that benefiting you?**

It's allowing us to create and manage our digital assets in a way that benefits our contributors and allows for easier collaboration. We have a wide array of photographs being taken within our institution on a daily basis, and Photoshelter helps us organize and distribute them almost instantaneously without issue or complications.

 ### 48. Photoshelter is a great way to organize your photos across your team!

**Rating:** 4.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Rachel W. | Assistant Education Programs Manager, Small-Business (50 or fewer emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** January 22, 2025

**What do you like best about PhotoShelter for Brands?**

Having one place to keep all our photos for the Arboretum that can be shared with all staff members is awesome. We used to use a simple folder system to store our images and it took so long to find images. Now I love that I can use the search feature and find specifically what I am looking for within seconds, without going through a ton of folders. I have had one-on-one calls with someone on the development team who listened to my problems and helped find solutions for me. I have never had that level of customer support from an online service. I use photoshelter weekly! I love the workspaces which are kind of like working folders that you can share with people on your team, external designers etc. I am constantly making them and using them for projects.

**What do you dislike about PhotoShelter for Brands?**

With the change over to the new Lumin system, I am still getting the hang of a few things. Specifically, filing images is taking me a long time but I have been working with the custom support team to find ways to make this system faster.

**What problems is PhotoShelter for Brands solving and how is that benefiting you?**

Photoshelter is helping us file our photos and find them faster than ever before.

 ### 49. User Friendly

**Rating:** 3.5/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Allie B. | Marketing Specialist, Enterprise (> 1000 emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** July 15, 2025

**What do you like best about PhotoShelter for Brands?**

As someone who was newer to PhotoShelter I was able to get around pretty easily!

**What do you dislike about PhotoShelter for Brands?**

I needed to have others input photos and it was quite a process to move their inputted photos to where they actually needed to be.

**What problems is PhotoShelter for Brands solving and how is that benefiting you?**

We are able to house thousands of photos in one spot and have an easy way to access them.

 ### 50. Why I like PhotoShelter for Brands

**Rating:** 4.5/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Verified User in Sports | Mid-Market (51-1000 emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** July 22, 2025
