A couple of years ago, when it was Payroll Relief from Accountant's World, it was better. The onboarding guy was awesome. I used to like the support as it was awesome back then. Also, when Payroll Relief is working, paying taxes online is smooth and seamless. **What do you dislike about Payroll Relief?** The support for Payroll Relief is now the worst software support I have ever experienced. You can never get a hold of anyone in support, which is frustrating because I have clients that need to do payrolls and their people aren't getting paid. If you have problems, you will never ever be able to get help. Once the onboarding guy, who's awesome, is done, you're on your own. **What problems is Payroll Relief solving and how is that benefiting you?** Payroll Relief doesn't solve any problems for us right now. There is zero real support. It is the worst I have ever experienced. Good luck reaching a person on the phone for complex problems. It is impossible STAY AWAY from this product! ### 2. To say that my clients and I both love the software and the connectivity it brings between us is an understatement. When you come from a legacy system, and then you attempt to use some type of retail system like sure pay, you find that The realistic service potential of payroll relief is extraordinary. I'll be very honest and tell you that there are parts of the system. I still don't understand because there is a lack of documentation. I am not a visual learner, so the videos that you produce tend to fade into the background. That's why our onboarding consultant was so important to me. They did a great job, whether that was our onboarding for our tax team that responded to my continuous questions. Our CPA from prides of themselves and being an integral part of our clients financial Health. We take that commitment very seriously. While we don't have stellar accounts that you would hear about in the news, we do have the backbone of America with tons of small and medium size businesses that depend on us everyday. Payroll relief makes that possible. I was honored to say asked me to be a reference for a like-sized CPA office recently. I consider it a benefit to the medium and small businesses of America 🙂 or at least that CPA office, LOL. **What do you dislike about Payroll Relief?** All right guys, I know you're trying to save paper. If you would just put together a PDF based on each section and be intense and intentional in your instruction, I would find it highly useful. I can use my own paper if I want to 🙂 and while we're all trying to use less of our natural resources, sometimes being able to highlight and tab stuff would be really beneficial to me. There are still parts of the system I don't understand, + although they try to be helpful, the service desk is very short in their answers or they refer you to the videos. **What problems is Payroll Relief solving and how is that benefiting you?** The main benefit is in its ability to accurately and concisely provide 401k and 1099 information for our clients. I think that you should touch base with some of your smaller users that actually equate to the biggest majority share of your end users. ### 3. It does have options to run a lot of reports, but not ones that are likely to be useful day to day. Export to QuickBooks is nice. **What do you dislike about Payroll Relief?** The only pay types Payroll Relief seems to offer are "hours." I have clients with truckers getting paid per mile, nonprofit ministry people getting paid by the day, and manufacturing workers whose pay includes piecework incentives. All ends up saying "hours" somewhere, when what's wanted is a Qty X Item calculation, with rates set at employee level instead of company level. **What problems is Payroll Relief solving and how is that benefiting you?** Payroll Relief allows clients to enter hours and get net pay even if I am out of the office. It also avoids needing me to re-enter everything from records accessible to them into payroll software accessible only by me. ### 6. Being yelled at by the customer support for asking questions. Also, approval of companies with the wrong EIN number in the past was a big shock and created a huge mess that I had to deal with and no help from payroll relief on that. Also, contacting my clients with out permission when told they would never be contacted. **What problems is Payroll Relief solving and how is that benefiting you?** I do not know of any problems being solved. They do not make it easy to send over retirement transmittals or funds to retirement accounts. There is a lack of benefit there. ### 7. Payroll calculations and taxes are accurate. I love the functionality of the daily queue of payrolls in the order they need to be processed (Payroll Snapshot screen). I love that they do direct deposit and EFT for most taxes (UT UI tax is the only exception). Support Email is very responsive for quick, easy questions. **What do you dislike about Payroll Relief?** I don't like how it's hard to get a hold of a live support person for the more difficult questions. Once I do connect, the support is very thorough and helpful, they're just hard to get through to. If you have payroll clients with 401k needs, the system can sometimes be quirky. Like the way matching employer funds are calculated when an employee turns off contributions then turns them back on. So watch the 401k like a hawk. It can all be overridden, but you gotta catch the stuff as you go. **What problems is Payroll Relief solving and how is that benefiting you?** They have a good interface with SwipeClock, a time tracking software. For my clients who use SwipeClock, uploading the hours into Payroll Relief is seamless ### 8. My Experience with Payroll Relief - Good and Bad **Rating:** 3.5/5.0 stars **Reviewed by:** Verified User in Accounting | Small-Business (50 or fewer emp.) **Reviewed Date:** December 19, 2024 **What do you like best about Payroll Relief?** 1) Automates much of the manual data entry; 2) automatically makes payroll tax payments; 3) automatically files payroll tax returns; 4) cost is reasonable; 5) Web based makes it easy to access if from anywhere; 6) integrates with Accounting Power eliminating duplicate entries; 7) automatically collects and deposits our processing fees; **What do you dislike about Payroll Relief?** 1) Program is somewhat rigid; 2) UI for clients is archaic and many have complained that it's not easy to use; 3) lead time for processing payroll are too long, especially compared to other payroll services; 4) making corrections to processed payroll is cumbersome; 5) backdating checks is not allowed (this is a feature we need with clients who manually issue checks); 6) certain reports are not allowed over multiple years; 7) integration with Accounting Power is not as good as we'd like (e.g. all federal tax payments are put into one GL account instead of separating Federa W/H from SS/Medicare paymetns); 8) onboarding is a little confusing to our clients, especially the EFT Application; 9) there's always a delay in receiving our processing fees (standard is supposed to be 2-3 business days but for us it's usually 5 business days-they've never been able to tell me why); 10) there's never a live person at Customer Support-we have to submit a ticket then wait for a response for something that could be handled easily with a phone call; 11) payments to third parties (e.g. WC insurance, garnishments, etc) must be processed as checks instead of electronically **What problems is Payroll Relief solving and how is that benefiting you?** Automating payment of payroll taxes; automating filing of multiple payroll tax returns; integration with Accounting Power; ### 9. I get quick response when I fill out a ticket. **What do you dislike about Payroll Relief?** Onboarding new clients is a real pain. I understand Gusto does it for the partner; I won't use Gusto as I feel it's way behind PR in so many ways. **What problems is Payroll Relief solving and how is that benefiting you?** Once you get over the initial learning curve, it becomes easy to use. Great options for Deductions, unlike many of PR's competitors. PR is very flexible when dealing with payruns. ### 11. We have not used Practice Relief becuase lack of features. Can configure easily for more complex payrolls. **What do you dislike about Payroll Relief?** The price keeps going up, and there are very last-minute notifications, many times on 15-day notice with no time to communicate an adjustment to client pricing. There are no new features or additional value to justify the increased pricing. Their competitors are almost the same cost with much more value, better accuracy, and files/pay all government jurisdictions. It doesn't file or pay all taxes (local specifically). Customer service is subpar at times, and more and more errors keep occurring. Lastly, Payroll Relief places everything on the firm's shoulders. If they mess up, the firm has to pay. No charge for direct deposit like Quickbooks. **What do you dislike about Payroll Relief?** Forced pre funding of payroll taxes has been an issue and it isn't fair to those not wanting or required to do it. The program does not file returns with zero liability even though the state still requires it. PRR processes an unemployment tax return for all states that you have a withholding number for even if you are not required to file an unemployment tax return. **What problems is Payroll Relief solving and how is that benefiting you?** Allows us to see all clients to process and we can do it anywhere there is internet. ### 21. The worst part about the software is the support. We canceled our subscription almost a year ago, let three different people know, and they still charged us a recurring amount.
