## OpenSign Reviews
  ### 1. Simple, Fast, and Fully Local—Gets the Job Done

**Rating:** 4.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Heather S. | IT and Office Manager, Small-Business (50 or fewer emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** February 13, 2026

**What do you like best about OpenSign?**

It is simple to use, can be utilized completely locally. It is fast and does its job well.

**What do you dislike about OpenSign?**

We use the self hosted option through docker, as emails in opensign are sent by default using the user email address, yet the smtp setup uses only a global authentication, we have issues with emails due to incompatibility with username and and the smtp authentication. This has been marked as a bug some time ago, but not yet fixed. It is however not a deal breaker and the system itself is so simple and easy to use that the extra setup required for this is worth it while we wait for an official fix.

**What problems is OpenSign solving and how is that benefiting you?**

We do a lot of RAMS and other documents that require signatures from staff and customers. This was a great solution that provided a quick and easy way to do this. The system is very intuitive and easy to use.

  ### 2. Affordable, Easy to Use, but Needs UX Tweaks

**Rating:** 5.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Colleen G.

**Reviewed Date:** January 14, 2026

**What do you like best about OpenSign?**

I really appreciated OpenSign's free trial, as it was really helpful to give me a sense of whether it was a product I wanted to move forward with. Their overall pricing is reasonable, which is a big plus. The signature collection feature is the one I use the most because it's just really straight ahead, with an easy drag and drop functionality. I also found the initial setup very easy and got started right away.

**What do you dislike about OpenSign?**

One of my forms had a lot of yes/no radio button questions, and the radio button functionality didn't interact well with my document. Getting that set up was somewhat cumbersome, and the output that my receiver got was less than elegant. That interface definitely could use some attention.

**What problems is OpenSign solving and how is that benefiting you?**

I use OpenSign to collect signatures from business partners and track document status. It helps send documents without needing extra tools and lets me use templates to avoid recreating documents. It makes managing agreements smooth and efficient.

**Rating:** 5.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Steve P. | Small-Business (50 or fewer emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** November 03, 2023

**What do you like best about OpenSign?**

Straight forward & legally recognized document signing which makes signed documents immutable, multiple signers, option to draw or upload signature, etc.
The fact that its an open source tool and still does not compromise on any functionality. It was super easy to deploy, I just cloned the repo and ran "make build" and it was up and running locally. Plus the hassle free option of cloud hosted solution is cherry on the cake. Another thing I loved about OpenSign is their active community, with around 2k stars on github in a few days of launch they have one of the most engaged community of developers who have their eyes on the code and community support is awesome. I tried mailing them about my query and got a reply in less than an hour from the customer support.

**What do you dislike about OpenSign?**

For the self-hosted version, they only support MailGun as the email provider, I would love to have the option to use SendGrid.

**What problems is OpenSign solving and how is that benefiting you?**

Its saving me a ton of money by allowing me to sign documents at the fraction of the cost of DocuSign.

The fact that it allows me to sign my PDF agreements and invite others to sign in a super user friendly way. 2 step verification feature is great, i can be sure that no unexpected person is accessing my confidential information.

**What do you dislike about OpenSign?**

The color scheme followed can be a lot better. Though they are saying that their mobile apps are coming soon but currently we are having to manage it by accessing their website on mobile which is mobile friendly.

**What problems is OpenSign solving and how is that benefiting you?**

It has brought our DocuSign subscription cost and Dropbox sign API cost to only 10% of what it was earlier.
