## About Sora
Sora is OpenAI’s new creative video app that lets you turn a simple text prompt or an uploaded image into vivid realistic videos with sound, spanning styles from cinematic and photorealistic to the animated and surreal. It’s designed for fast, playful creation and iteration: you can generate scenes from scratch, remix existing creations, and even “cast” yourself and friends as characters while keeping control over how and when your likeness is used. The overall pitch is a lightweight, creator-first workflow: type an idea, watch it become a moving scene with audio, and keep refining until it matches the story in your head.

## Sora Reviews
  ### 1. Good for Turning Rough Ideas Into Videos

**Rating:** 4.5/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Shaik T. | Content Writer , Small-Business (50 or fewer emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** July 10, 2026

**What do you like best about Sora?**

I started using Sora mostly to test ideas before spending time editing videos myself, and it ended up saving me a lot more time than I expected. If I had a rough concept in mind, I could write a prompt, make a couple of changes, and have a decent-looking video to work with within a few minutes. That made it much easier to decide whether an idea was worth developing further.

**What do you dislike about Sora?**

One thing I struggled with was getting consistent results across multiple generations. I'd find a style or character I liked, but making small changes sometimes altered parts of the video that I actually wanted to keep. It meant I spent more time experimenting than I expected.

I also noticed that longer or more detailed prompts didn't always produce better results. There were times when the model seemed to ignore smaller instructions, so I had to simplify my prompts or break the idea into smaller pieces. It's not a deal-breaker, but I think prompt accuracy could still improve.

**What problems is Sora solving and how is that benefiting you?**

I often need visuals for blog posts, presentations, and social media, but I don't always have the time or budget to produce custom videos. Before using Sora, I'd either rely on stock footage or skip the idea altogether.

Now I can create short videos that match the topic I'm working on without spending hours editing. It has helped me publish content faster and experiment with ideas that I probably wouldn't have tried before because creating them manually would've taken too long.

  ### 2. A Predatory, Pointless AI Product With No Real Use Case

**Rating:** 0.5/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Alejandro O. | UX Designer, Design, Mid-Market (51-1000 emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** July 08, 2026

**What do you like best about Sora?**

Barely anything to say, honestly. The UI was simple enough to use, it generated stuff in a "reasonable" time frame (at least as far as gen AI goes), it was fairly well integrated with other platforms for sharing or cross-posting and it was originally a cool proof of concept for AI, I guess, but pretty much everything else about this product was terrible.

There's no real use case or problem it solves, it introduces a lot of AI slop to the world and reduces cognition of people, it adopts the same predatory model a tiktok and other short form video platforms.

In terms of pricing, I can't think of anyone who would've paid for this. It was definitely not a killer app for openAI.

In terms of onboarding, it was simple enough, can't say anything groundbreaking about it though.

In terms of AI, it's about the worst displays of AI ever. I can only hope that this technology stops being developed for the good of all humanity.

**What do you dislike about Sora?**

Pretty much everything about it. It's something nothing asked for and that represents everything that is wrong with AI.

**What problems is Sora solving and how is that benefiting you?**

I don't think it even tried to solve any problems at all. It was mostly a proof of concept or some sort of open beta for their gen AI models. It certainly felt that way.

  ### 3. Don't invest: Sora is shut down, slow, limited creativity, no desktop or Premiere integration

**Rating:** 0.5/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Josh W. | Video Marketing Manager, Mid-Market (51-1000 emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** June 30, 2026

**What do you like best about Sora?**

It was fun to create some silly videos, but it never felt like I was using any real skills or being "creative." I would not use it for anything professional or for paid contract work. The app was easy to use, but I don't believe it had a desktop version that I knew of, and it didn't integrate with editing software like Adobe Premiere. The app was fairly slow, and some features—like the "social media scroll"—relied on pretty terrible algorithms. I never used a paid version, and I wouldn't recommend paying for it since it is shut down now.
I never interacted with customer service, so I can't say anything about that.
Learning the app was pretty easy and straightforward.

**What do you dislike about Sora?**

I didn't feel creative when using Sora; I just ended up making silly videos. The app has been shut down, and I couldn't retrieve the videos I created — though I don't really mind. I wouldn't recommend spending time or money on this app, since they announced it is closing.

**What problems is Sora solving and how is that benefiting you?**

Sora doesn't solve any problems. Even when it functioned, it wasn't a real tool for creating.

  ### 4. Time Saving AI Tool for Image Editing and Concept Visuals

**Rating:** 5.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Muzammil M. | Founder – Muzammil Graphic | Interior and Graphic Designer | Transforming Spaces and Brands Visually , Graphic Design, Small-Business (50 or fewer emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** February 27, 2026

**What do you like best about Sora?**

I’ve been using Sora extensively over the past several months, and what stands out most is how efficiently it turns text prompts and uploaded images into ready to use visual content. As a freelance graphic and interior designer, I often need to quickly remove objects, adjust lighting, or manipulate shadows in images tasks that used to take a lot of time in Photoshop. With Sora, I can upload images, describe the changes I want, and it generates results almost instantly. I also use it to combine multiple visuals, such as placing a product into a banner or poster design. It understands my instructions well, allows me to experiment with different variations, and saves a significant amount of time in my workflow. Overall, Sora makes visual experimentation fast, precise, and much easier compared to traditional design methods.

**What do you dislike about Sora?**

One limitation is that you can’t download or export videos directly, which restricts some uses. While it’s excellent for concept testing and quick edits, not having direct download options can make integrating results into larger projects slightly cumbersome.

**What problems is Sora solving and how is that benefiting you?**

As a freelance graphic and interior designer, I frequently work on projects that require quick image manipulation and creative visual layouts. Tasks like removing unwanted objects, adjusting shadows or lighting, or combining multiple images for a banner or poster usually take a lot of time in Photoshop or other traditional design software. With Sora, I can simply upload the images and describe what I want, and it produces updated visuals almost instantly. For example, if I need to place a product in a new banner or adjust the background lighting for an interior design concept, Sora handles it quickly, saving me hours of manual work. I also use it to experiment with multiple design variations in real time. If I want to try two different image placements or styles, I just provide a prompt, and Sora generates both options. This allows me to visualize creative ideas faster, test multiple concepts, and present polished options to clients more efficiently. Being part of ChatGPT’s suite of tools, Sora is intuitive, beginner-friendly, and free to start, though there are some limits on the number of images. Even in the free version, it is a powerful tool that accelerates my workflow, encourages experimentation, and ensures my visual content is professional and client ready.

  ### 5. Great for Fast Creative Video Ideas

**Rating:** 2.5/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** ryan l. | Manager, Small-Business (50 or fewer emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** July 08, 2026

**What do you like best about Sora?**

I like that Sora makes it easy to turn creative ideas into high-quality videos quickly, even without advanced editing skills.

**What do you dislike about Sora?**

Sometimes it takes a few tries to get the exact result I want, especially with details like hands, text, or consistent product styles.

**What problems is Sora solving and how is that benefiting you?**

Sora helps me create marketing videos faster without needing a full production team. It saves time, reduces content costs, and makes it easier to test new creative ideas for ads and social media.

  ### 6. Sora Turns Ideas into Strong Visual Concepts Fast

**Rating:** 5.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Verified User in Wholesale | Small-Business (50 or fewer emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** July 07, 2026

**What do you like best about Sora?**

What I like best about Sora is how quickly it can turn a simple idea into a strong visual concept. It makes video creation feel much more accessible, especially when you need to explore creative directions, build mood, or communicate an idea without going straight into a full production process. The biggest benefit is speed: it helps move from concept to visual output much faster while still leaving room to refine the prompt and creative direction.

**What do you dislike about Sora?**

What I dislike about Sora is that it can sometimes take a few attempts to get the exact result I have in mind. The overall quality can be very impressive, but small details like movement, text, product accuracy, or consistency between shots may need extra prompt refinement. It is great for concepting and visual exploration, but I would still like more control over precise edits and brand-specific details.

**What problems is Sora solving and how is that benefiting you?**

Sora helps solve the problem of turning creative ideas into visual concepts quickly without needing a full video production process from the start. It makes it much easier to test ideas, explore different creative directions, and communicate a visual concept before investing more time or resources. The biggest benefit is speed, especially for brainstorming, pitching, and creating early-stage content that would normally take much longer to produce.

  ### 7. Sora Delivers Stunning, Realistic High-Quality Videos From Plain Text

**Rating:** 4.5/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Franco C. | Manager, Information Technology and Services, Small-Business (50 or fewer emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** July 09, 2026

**What do you like best about Sora?**

Sora is a great tool to create realistic high-quality videos just starting from plain text. It's really useful for creative ideas and content creation, the video quality and details are truly amazing, and they have reached extremely high levels with the latest updates.

**What do you dislike about Sora?**

Sometimes it can still struggle with very detailed or complicated scenes and rendering can take time and multiple attempts.

**What problems is Sora solving and how is that benefiting you?**

I have used Sora on several occasions to create short demonstration clips to illustrate certain technical steps to clients. Producing these videos in person would have been far more costly and time-consuming, and they likely would have been less effective as well.

  ### 8. Fun, Enjoyable Way to Make Silly Videos

**Rating:** 4.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Derek D. | IT Manager, Small-Business (50 or fewer emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** July 07, 2026

**What do you like best about Sora?**

Sora is a fun tool for making silly videos of yourself, and it’s enjoyable to use.

**What do you dislike about Sora?**

It doesn’t always do exactly what I tell it to do. I wish it came with clearer, more detailed instructions on how to accomplish the tasks I’m trying to complete.

**What problems is Sora solving and how is that benefiting you?**

I wouldn’t say it’s solving any problem I have, but it does benefit my entertainment.

  ### 9. Easy to Use and In-Control Creativity, Though Some Outputs Still Feel AI-Generated

**Rating:** 3.5/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Joshua L. | Data Analyst, Mid-Market (51-1000 emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** July 07, 2026

**What do you like best about Sora?**

I like that Sora is easy to use with an efficient performance that tailor makes what I need generated. It understands when I feed a prompt into the system and allows me to feel that I am in control of my own ideas, while augmenting and helping them become a reality.

**What do you dislike about Sora?**

I dislike that at times, the generated content feels blatantly AI generated without trying to account for realistic nuances

**What problems is Sora solving and how is that benefiting you?**

Sora helps me generate video content easily and helps me use it for a wide array of different projects ranging from personal to professional

  ### 10. Unique Creative Features and a Modern, Easy-to-Use UI

**Rating:** 4.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Verified User in Public Relations and Communications | Small-Business (50 or fewer emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** July 09, 2026

**What do you like best about Sora?**

What I like best about Sora is that it has some very unique and creative features such as being able to see other people's ai generated videos which I think is the best, and it also has a simple to understand, but modern UI which I like.

**What do you dislike about Sora?**

I don't like sora is how long it takes to make one video as usually I would love for the AI to make the video quickly but it takes longer than anticipated.

**What problems is Sora solving and how is that benefiting you?**

Sora is helping me by allowing me to make AI powered tools for very cheap which I like a lot because it allows me to spend less time making videos by hand.

  ### 11. Unique AI Video Generation That Saves Time

**Reviewed by:** Verified User in Information Technology and Services | Mid-Market (51-1000 emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** July 09, 2026

**What do you like best about Sora?**

It allows you to generate high quality videos using the power of AI. It is unique in its generation of content and can be very helpful to describe something or to create a video in a quarter length of the time.

**What do you dislike about Sora?**

It can be a little irratible at times when you want to come up with a prompt and it does not do exactly what you were expecting. I do think it could be a little easier to use for the end user overall.

**What problems is Sora solving and how is that benefiting you?**

It helps me create content for personal and professional situations. It can be the result of my entertainment and can also be a wonderful describer.

  ### 12. I hope they bring it back again. Very good Product.

Sora made very good quality videos on the go with mobile, and I could easily download or upload to YouTube.

**Reviewed Date:** July 07, 2026

**What do you like best about Sora?**

It’s straightforward to use, and we’ve been able to create quick training visuals for internal sessions without needing a video production team.

**What do you dislike about Sora?**

The AI outputs are sometimes too “synthetic” looking, which limits their use for polished training materials.

**What problems is Sora solving and how is that benefiting you?**

It allows us to prototype training clips rapidly, making internal presentations more engaging while cutting down on production costs.

  ### 15. Great for Mapping Thoughts, but Video Edits Don’t Always Apply as Expected

**What do you dislike about Sora?**

The only thing that makes this product not preform well is that it crashes from time to time

**What problems is Sora solving and how is that benefiting you?**

They do seem to listen to the client and care what we think. Going above and beyond to fix the issue.

  ### 18. Fun time for your other you
