"Straightforward, User-Friendly Thematic Analysis with Intuitive Click-and-Code"
4.5/5
What do you like best about NVivo?

A straightforward, user-friendly, and hassle-free solution for thematic and content analysis. The click-and-code functionality makes the coding process intuitive and efficient. I particularly appreciated the ease of navigating back to specific coded content, whether within a single file or across multiple files through nodes and codes. This feature was especially valuable when analysing lengthy interviews conducted across different countries, significantly reducing the time required for coding and data management. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

What do you dislike about NVivo?

Nothing specific comes to mind. Compared with my previous experience using the software, the current version appears to have resolved many of the complexities and performance issues that I encountered in earlier versions. That said, some of the improvements may also be related to differences in operating systems. My previous experience was on a MacBook, whereas I am now using a Windows system. Overall, my experience with the current version has been very positive. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

"NVivo: Powerful, Intuitive Qualitative Analysis That Saves Serious Time"
4/5
What do you like best about NVivo?

NVivo is a powerful, flexible, versatile tool for the organisation and analysis of my qualitative data. It has shaved a substantial amount of time off my analytical process, freeing me up to consider the implications of my findings rather than spending my time processing it. The user interface is intuitive, the voice-to-text function performs well, and the pricing is fair. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

What do you dislike about NVivo?

While the voice-to-text conversion feature is strong, it sometimes struggles with my very English accent. Perhaps training the AI translation software on a wider sample of voice clips would help to improve this? Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

Response from Alesia Atkins of NVivo

Thank you so much for this thoughtful review, James! We're so glad NVivo has saved you time and let you focus more on your findings than the process of getting there. It's especially meaningful to hear it's helping support the work you're doing at the University of Auckland for students from lower-socioeconomic backgrounds.

Thanks also for the honest feedback on voice-to-text with accents. We'll pass that along to our product team.

We really appreciate you taking the time to share this, and the work you do. By the way, don't forget you have the Lumivero Community in your corner too, helpful resources, discussion boards, and support are all just a click away! Check it out in the link below.

"Organizing Files and Highlighting Texts in NVivo"
5/5
What do you like best about NVivo?

I love the word cloud feature in NVivo because it provides me with a comprehensive summary of the existing texts and helps me start with general impressions during analysis. Additionally, the auto-coding feature simplifies the process of grouping basic codes and saves a lot of time. Moreover, classifying files into cases and placing specific information for each case is very useful, as it helps me organize demographic information in a way that facilitates comparison, especially in large projects like the latest analysis I did for 21 companies. Setting up the program was very easy for me. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

What do you dislike about NVivo?

I still face difficulty in creating relationships in the program. Despite trying to watch many courses or videos on the subject, I believe you can make it simpler. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

Response from Alesia Atkins of NVivo

Thank you so much for this thoughtful review, Jehad! We're glad the word cloud feature helps with initial impressions, and that auto-coding has saved you time. It's also great to know that organizing files into cases has helped you manage comparisons, especially across a project as large as your 21-company analysis.

We appreciate you sharing your experience with creating relationships in NVivo. We know this can be challenging, and we'd encourage you to check out the Lumivero Community in the link below for additional resources and discussion boards that may help.

"Easy Coding for Interview Analysis, But Some Cumbersome Functions"
4/5
What do you like best about NVivo?

It's really easy to create codes and to attach them to bits of text in my data. Once I have a draft codebook, it's a smooth process to add it to my NVivo project and then to code my interview transcripts. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

What do you dislike about NVivo?

The method of creating and populating a case is cumbersome. After I upload a file, why do I have to copy its contents and drag it to the new case where it belongs? Also, why can't a Query be a crosstabs of one code with another code? In my past qualitative analysis software this was easy to do. NVivo is very expensive for a low-budget nonprofit. And we had a problem with getting an overpayment refunded: we paid for a Collaboration license so two people could work on the same project, but it never worked, so we tried to get a refund, unsuccessfully. But we get a lot of value for the amount we pay. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

Response from Alesia Atkins of NVivo

Thank you for the review! We're really glad to hear that coding and building out your codebook has been a smooth process, and that NVivo has helped make your interview analysis, and ultimately your writing, more organized.

We also appreciate the specific feedback on case creation and cross-tab queries, that kind of detail genuinely helps our product team as they look at ways to streamline workflows. We're also sorry to hear about your experience with the Collaboration license and refund request, that's certainly not the experience we aim to provide.

We understand budget is a real consideration, especially for a nonprofit, and we're glad to hear you're still finding strong value in NVivo overall. We currently have a limited-time offer where you can get AI Assistant free with an NVivo + AI annual subscription, through September 15, which could be a great way to get more value out of your subscription.

Thank you again for sharing such candid feedback, it genuinely helps us improve. By the way, don't forget you have the Lumivero Community in your corner too, helpful resources, discussion boards, and support are all just a click away!

"Powerful Tool for Qualitative and Mixed-Methods Research"
5/5
What do you like best about NVivo?

NVivo has been a game-changer for my qualitative research work. It provides a seamless way to organize, analyze, and visualize complex data. I especially liked the ability to generate word clouds, perform perceptual mapping, create hierarchy charts, and run cluster analysis, which made my findings more insightful and visually engaging. The transcription and data coding features were extremely useful in handling large volumes of qualitative data efficiently. Overall, it significantly enhanced the depth and clarity of my research outcomes. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

What do you dislike about NVivo?

While NVivo is powerful, it does have a steep learning curve; it takes time to get used to its interface and fully leverage its wide range of features. At times, it felt less intuitive, especially when switching between different types of analyses. Additionally, the software can be resource-heavy, which slows down performance if the dataset is large. A more user-friendly interface and lighter system requirements would make it even better.
