## Neon Reviews
  ### 1. Fast Signup, Generous Free Tier, and a Smooth Dashboard Experience

**Rating:** 5.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Dennis B. | Principle Software Engineer, Mid-Market (51-1000 emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** March 18, 2026

**What do you like best about Neon?**

Fast signup with Google / Github account.

A generous free/hobby tier. I promote and use neon a lot for workshops.

The dashboard allows me to do all day to day tasks without having to install anything on my machine.

**What do you dislike about Neon?**

We are worried that the service may eventually be sunset since an acquisition by Databricks.

**What problems is Neon solving and how is that benefiting you?**

I often give workshops which require particpants to have a PostGIS database running. The initial setup with neon usually takes just a few minutes.

  ### 2. Perfect platform for SQL Databases

**Rating:** 5.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Abhishek N. | Software Developer Intern, Small-Business (50 or fewer emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** April 13, 2025

**What do you like best about Neon?**

Provide initial free deployed SQL database with quick access times, paid version also gives a lot more storage. Their platform is managing the database deployments themselves which provides reassurance of the services availability, and I as the user don't have to worry about self-hosting.

**What do you dislike about Neon?**

Little less customization ability at free tier, with only one database allowed, but good enough for personal use.

**What problems is Neon solving and how is that benefiting you?**

Simply making database access quick and scalable online. Don't have to worry about downtime.

  ### 3. Blazing fast and easy to use database as a service

**Rating:** 5.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Frederic H. | Software Developer, Mid-Market (51-1000 emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** May 14, 2024

**What do you like best about Neon?**

By using Neon in our projects, we've been able to get up and running in record time. Their documentation is easy to understand, and they have multiple examples to get you up to speed really fast. Integration with Drizzle on TypeScript is flawless. We'll definitely use it more in our next projects now that PlanetScale has dropped their free tier.

**What do you dislike about Neon?**

So far, it's pretty close to perfect. Nothing to complain about.

**What problems is Neon solving and how is that benefiting you?**

Helps us get a database up and running extremly fast without all the fuss. Amazingly fast out of the box, little to no optimizations to do.

  ### 4. Easy to setup cloud DB that you can still use like a regular Postgres

**Rating:** 4.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Sini L. | CTO, Small-Business (50 or fewer emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** March 07, 2024

**What do you like best about Neon?**

It was super easy to set up, and it has a extensive free tier vs. paying for RDS on the get go.

**What do you dislike about Neon?**

Haven't used Neon for too long to to find out

**What problems is Neon solving and how is that benefiting you?**

It's solving the issue of hosting a database
