What is N-able Take Control, and what problem is it built to solve?

N-able Take Control is used to connect technicians to client computers remotely so they can troubleshoot issues and provide support without being onsite. It supports both on-demand connections and access to devices that are already set up for remote support.

What languages does N-able Take Control support?

N-able Take Control supports 6 languages: English, French, German, Italian, Portuguese, and Spanish.

What company sizes and industries is N-able Take Control the best fit for?

N-able Take Control has its clearest user-reported fit among small businesses and mid-market organizations, especially those working in IT services.
  • Small businesses: The most represented company-size segment among positive users.
  • Mid-market organizations: Also represented among positive users, though less prominently than small businesses.
  • Information Technology and Services: The most prominent industry among positive users.

How long does it take to implement N-able Take Control across a team?

Teams commonly report getting N-able Take Control up and running in less than a day, making it a practical option when remote support access is needed quickly.

What customer support options does N-able Take Control provide, and how do users find the overall support experience?

Support is available through chat. The support experience is mixed: some users describe helpful, timely assistance, while others report difficulty getting issues resolved or receiving a response.

What is the experience like for teams switching to N-able Take Control from another tool?

Switching to N-able Take Control is often driven by lower costs, a more convenient fit with the N-able RMM environment, or a desire for straightforward remote access. It has replaced tools such as TeamViewer, LogMeIn, Splashtop, and Zoho Assist; users value consolidated access and simpler connections, though the transition can still bring trade-offs in interface polish or connection reliability.

What tools and platforms does N-able Take Control integrate with, and how do these integrations help users get more value from the product?

N-able Take Control is most often described alongside other tools in the N-able ecosystem, with Passportal also mentioned.
  • N-able RMM and monitoring: N-central, N-able RMM, and N-able monitoring.
  • Password management: Passportal.
These connections can make it easier to launch remote sessions from an existing management workflow and bring related tools closer to technicians’ day-to-day support work.

What features or capabilities could make N-able Take Control even more useful?

The most useful improvements would make remote sessions easier to manage, especially for teams supporting devices with multiple monitors.
  • Multi-monitor support: Make switching between displays smoother and allow technicians to view screens side by side.
  • Connection performance and reliability: Reduce slow connections, disconnects, and difficulty reconnecting after a reboot.
  • Session recording: Make automatic recording easier to use for reviewing support work.
  • Interface customization: Add more options to tailor the technician console and client-facing experience.

What do you dislike about N-able Take Control?

Occasionally it can be slow on a single device within a network, while other devices run fine. I've also encountered issues with blanking out the screen, in that when I blank it out, my session is locked and I have to reconnect. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

"The best remote support app I've ever used"
5/5
What do you like best about N-able Take Control?

What I find most useful in SolarWinds Take Control is the ability to save remote access and all our clients' computers, as well as the variety of possibilities the tool offers, such as file transfer, entering commands in the prompt directly through the console, monitoring processes, hardware, and services. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

What do you dislike about N-able Take Control?

The only problem I have found so far is that the software is a bit heavy when used on a more basic setup (compared to competitors), but this is not an obstacle if used on a computer with average configurations, especially because it demands more from the hardware as the tool has an enormous variety of functions. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

"Simple and efficient"
3.5/5
What do you like best about N-able Take Control?

We like being able to connect to customers everywhere and anytime, even if our customers are not physically present in front of their computer. We secure access to our customers' PCs by password, which makes the process reliable and secure. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

What do you dislike about N-able Take Control?

The SolarWinds Take Control solution is too slow on some PCs. Sometimes, it's really impossible to connect. Some old PCs do not support the tool, which completely blocks the computer. It's impossible to work. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

"Most powerful and resoureful remote access software for professional use"
5/5
What do you like best about N-able Take Control?

It is the remote access software with more powerful functions that makes remote support fast, easy and secure to all our clients. We have used it for a few years and it has evolved quite a lot and it is now the only software we can trust and recommend for remote access. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

What do you dislike about N-able Take Control?

There is nothing we don't like in this software. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

"The best remote software by far"
5/5
What do you like best about N-able Take Control?

I like the ability to access the console on any device with ease, Take control has been the best product by far. The fact that I get the options of file transfer, and the shell commands have proven to be very useful in unlocking user accounts when users lock them selves out or for when the server is unresponsive. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

What do you dislike about N-able Take Control?

I dislike the fact that there are many options for implementing into a website, I feel its very limited and basic, would like to implement the website support based on our current website template instead of the basic features. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.
