What is N-able Take Control, and what problem is it built to solve?

N-able Take Control is used to connect technicians to client computers remotely so they can troubleshoot issues and provide support without being onsite. It supports both on-demand connections and access to devices that are already set up for remote support.

What languages does N-able Take Control support?

N-able Take Control supports 6 languages: English, French, German, Italian, Portuguese, and Spanish.

What company sizes and industries is N-able Take Control the best fit for?

N-able Take Control has its clearest user-reported fit among small businesses and mid-market organizations, especially those working in IT services.
  • Small businesses: The most represented company-size segment among positive users.
  • Mid-market organizations: Also represented among positive users, though less prominently than small businesses.
  • Information Technology and Services: The most prominent industry among positive users.

How long does it take to implement N-able Take Control across a team?

Teams commonly report getting N-able Take Control up and running in less than a day, making it a practical option when remote support access is needed quickly.

What customer support options does N-able Take Control provide, and how do users find the overall support experience?

Support is available through chat. The support experience is mixed: some users describe helpful, timely assistance, while others report difficulty getting issues resolved or receiving a response.

What is the experience like for teams switching to N-able Take Control from another tool?

Switching to N-able Take Control is often driven by lower costs, a more convenient fit with the N-able RMM environment, or a desire for straightforward remote access. It has replaced tools such as TeamViewer, LogMeIn, Splashtop, and Zoho Assist; users value consolidated access and simpler connections, though the transition can still bring trade-offs in interface polish or connection reliability.

What tools and platforms does N-able Take Control integrate with, and how do these integrations help users get more value from the product?

N-able Take Control is most often described alongside other tools in the N-able ecosystem, with Passportal also mentioned.
  • N-able RMM and monitoring: N-central, N-able RMM, and N-able monitoring.
  • Password management: Passportal.
These connections can make it easier to launch remote sessions from an existing management workflow and bring related tools closer to technicians’ day-to-day support work.

What features or capabilities could make N-able Take Control even more useful?

The most useful improvements would make remote sessions easier to manage, especially for teams supporting devices with multiple monitors.
  • Multi-monitor support: Make switching between displays smoother and allow technicians to view screens side by side.
  • Connection performance and reliability: Reduce slow connections, disconnects, and difficulty reconnecting after a reboot.
  • Session recording: Make automatic recording easier to use for reviewing support work.
  • Interface customization: Add more options to tailor the technician console and client-facing experience.

"Easy to use, good feature updates"
4/5
What do you like best about N-able Take Control?

The ease of use is very good. Anything that has been lacking has been usually updated/upgraded to make ease of use better along with other feature updates that are very useful. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

What do you dislike about N-able Take Control?

Biggest issue is not having automatic session recording. We recently had an issue where we needed to see what was done in a session by a former employee. Automatic session recording would have been huge in that instance. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

"SolarWinds Take Control rocks"
5/5
What do you like best about N-able Take Control?

We have used a number of remote control products over the years. The thing I like the best about Take Control is the ease of connecting - one click and you are on - no codes or passwords needed! Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

What do you dislike about N-able Take Control?

Probably the thing I dislike the most is that the screen quality isn't always the greatest - and sometimes it takes a while to connect. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

"Great product"
4.5/5
What do you like best about N-able Take Control?

We are using N-Central and while it allows us to remotely connect to many devices, the agent needs to be deployed first and many customers don't have administrative rights on their computers. This is where Take Control is really useful. The ability to send a code to the customer and remotely connect to their computer is really simple, and all the built-in tools are handy. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

What do you dislike about N-able Take Control?

We are a French enterprise based in Montreal. We have found that the accent characters as well as the French language are not really supported. We would also like to get an Automation Manager integration so we could easily deploy our current script library to the devices. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

The ease of use is amazing, I love being able to click a single button and without fuss remote into a clients workstation or server. As well the ability know if connections failed and why is super handy. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

What do you dislike about N-able Take Control?

The monitoring of the connection can be a bit better and information on where the connection is failing vs just the bar would be helpful. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

"So much easier than Screen Connect"
4/5
What do you like best about N-able Take Control?

we love the fact that we can access every protected client right from the RMM portal! It works almost flawlessly. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

What do you dislike about N-able Take Control?

I don't like the popup that happens (often) for multiple screens. I cannot figure out why the small screen 1 & 2 popup keeps showing in the upper right. That's the only annoying part Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.
