## Microsoft Project Server Reviews
 ### 1. Streamlined Compliance with Robust Resource Planning

**Rating:** 4.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Hiren B. | Senior Management Consultant, Marketing & Data Compliance, Management Consulting, Mid-Market (51-1000 emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** June 25, 2026

**What do you like best about Microsoft Project Server?**

I really appreciate the enterprise resource capacity planning module in Microsoft Project Server, as it offers real-time visibility into every consultant's billable hours. It helps us prevent over-allocation for concurrent GDPR audit and martech projects. Its integration with SharePoint is fantastic, delivering fully versioned, audit-ready project logs essential for German regulatory traceability. The built-in portfolio prioritization scoring tool also stands out, allowing us to customize weighted criteria for ranking client engagements, which eliminates subjective team debates on resource allocation. I also like the native Power BI reporting connectors that let us generate detailed dashboards for client resources, budgets, and milestones, tailored for our German stakeholders while saving time on manual spreadsheet compilations.

**What do you dislike about Microsoft Project Server?**

It lacks full German localization, with many core audit menus remaining untranslated, slowing GDPR documentation work. There are no native connectors for German compliance and CRM tools, requiring tedious CSV data syncs. Its workflow editor is overly complex for German regulatory approval chains, and the mobile app only supports limited edits, creating hassle during on-site client visits. The native workflow editor relies on rigid, code-adjacent configuration that demands dedicated PPM admins to build German GDPR audit approval chains. We need layered sign-off steps for data protection reviews, client budget sign-offs, and regulatory checkpoint validations, but the tool offers no pre-built EU compliance template library. Without localized setup guides, we spent extra time mapping compliance sign-off rules manually, and training junior consultants on the unique resource governance logic added further ramp-up overhead post-launch.

**What problems is Microsoft Project Server solving and how is that benefiting you?**

Microsoft Project Server centralizes project management, improving resource visibility and budget tracking. It eliminates file fragmentation and ensures complete audit trails for compliance, while standardized workflows enhance deliverable consistency.

 ### 2. Powerful Project Structure and Visibility, But Can Feel Complex and Slow

**Rating:** 3.5/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Youssef B. | Senior IT & Business Management, Enterprise (> 1000 emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** May 04, 2026

**What do you like best about Microsoft Project Server?**

I like how Microsoft Project Server provides a clear structure for planning and tracking projects. Its scheduling tools, resource management features, and timeline visibility make it much easier to keep complex projects organized, monitor progress, and stay on track.

**What do you dislike about Microsoft Project Server?**

I dislike that Microsoft Project Server can feel overly complex and not very intuitive. Some tasks take more steps than necessary, and the interface can be slow when managing larger projects.

**What problems is Microsoft Project Server solving and how is that benefiting you?**

Microsoft Project Server helps manage complex projects by centralizing schedules, resources, and timelines in one place. It improves overall visibility, reduces planning errors, and makes it easier to keep large projects aligned, coordinated, and on track.

 ### 3. Microsoft Project Keeps Timelines Clear and Workflows organized

**Rating:** 4.5/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Verified User in Pharmaceuticals | Small-Business (50 or fewer emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** April 07, 2026

**What do you like best about Microsoft Project Server?**

I use Microsoft Project to plan and track my data management activities across studies. It helps me organize timelines, key milestones, and dependencies in a clear way.

One feature I use a lot is the Gantt chart. It gives me a simple view of all tasks and how they connect. This helps me quickly see delays or risks and take action early. It also makes it easier to explain timelines to the team and sponsors.

I also find the task tracking and updates very useful. I can follow progress, adjust timelines, and keep everything aligned in one place instead of using multiple files.

Overall, it has improved my workflow by helping me stay organized, plan ahead, and manage timelines more efficiently. It also supports better communication with the team since everything is clear and structured.

**What do you dislike about Microsoft Project Server?**

One thing I find challenging about Microsoft Project Server is that it can feel complex, especially for new users. It takes time to learn how to use it well, and some features are not very intuitive.

Also, making quick updates is not always easy. Simple changes can take more steps than expected, which can slow things down when you are managing multiple tasks.

**What problems is Microsoft Project Server solving and how is that benefiting you?**

Microsoft Project Server helps me manage timelines, tasks, and resources in a structured way across my studies.

In my role, I need to track many activities at the same time, like data cleaning, listings, external data reviews, and key milestones. The tool helps me organize all of this in one place and see how tasks are connected.

It also helps me identify risks early. For example, if one task is delayed, I can quickly see the impact on other activities and adjust the plan.

Another benefit is visibility. I can share clear timelines with my team and stakeholders, which helps with alignment and expectations.

 ### 4. Solid tool for keeping projects organized

**Rating:** 4.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Josefina E. | Supply Chain Analyst , Mid-Market (51-1000 emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** December 10, 2025

**What do you like best about Microsoft Project Server?**

What I like best about Microsoft Project Server is how easily you can centralize everything—projects, timelines, resources—so the whole team stays aligned without digging through a million spreadsheets. It just makes coordination way smoother.

**What do you dislike about Microsoft Project Server?**

What I dislike about Microsoft Project Server is that it can feel a bit heavy and rigid sometimes, especially when you just want to make quick updates or changes on the fly. It’s powerful, but not always the most friendly or flexible.

**What problems is Microsoft Project Server solving and how is that benefiting you?**

Microsoft Project Server helps solve the usual chaos of managing multiple projects at the same time — scattered info, unclear priorities, and teams not knowing who’s doing what. By having everything in one place, it gives me clearer visibility, helps me track progress better, and makes it way easier to coordinate work without constant back-and-forth.

 ### 5. Document Management with SharePoint Integration

**Rating:** 4.0/5.0 stars

**What do you like best about Microsoft Project Server?**

it helps us to manage various projects day to day by integrating SharePoint server with document management. We can manage centralization of data with high performance at the right pricing. We also have online support. We can also use AI for assistance and user interface.

**What do you dislike about Microsoft Project Server?**

we need some training to use this server. It has a little high cost.

**What problems is Microsoft Project Server solving and how is that benefiting you?**

Our company has various offices at different locations so we can manage all the data and reporting at the main office location.

 ### 6. Centralized Portfolio Management with Powerful Scheduling and Microsoft 365 Integration

**Rating:** 4.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Verified User in Information Technology and Services | Mid-Market (51-1000 emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** April 28, 2026

**What do you like best about Microsoft Project Server?**

It has centralized portfolio management, allowing organizations to manage, track, and align multiple projects, resources, and portfolios in one place. Key strengths include powerful, detailed scheduling (Gantt charts), robust resource capacity planning, and deep integration with the Microsoft 365 ecosystem, including SharePoint and Power Bl.

**What do you dislike about Microsoft Project Server?**

High cost, steep learning curve, and complex, non-intuitive interface that requires significant training.

**What problems is Microsoft Project Server solving and how is that benefiting you?**

Project Server creates a single source of truth, enabling executives and PMs to see all projects, risks, and statuses in one place.

 ### 7. Seamless Milestone Planning with Smooth Collaboration

**Rating:** 5.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Verified User in Biotechnology | Mid-Market (51-1000 emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** May 23, 2026

**What do you like best about Microsoft Project Server?**

Seamless milestone planning, smooth collaboration, and easy editing.

**What do you dislike about Microsoft Project Server?**

The expensive license could become a barrier at some point.

**What problems is Microsoft Project Server solving and how is that benefiting you?**

Milestone planning and collaboration with the team have been really helpful. Having a master plan for the project makes it easier to stay aligned and keep everything on track.

 ### 8. Intuitive Scheduling, But Version Management Needs Improvement

**Rating:** 3.5/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Claudia Liliana T. | Agile & CX Expert, Enterprise (> 1000 emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** November 26, 2025

**What do you like best about Microsoft Project Server?**

It remains the most intuitive and straightforward tool for creating a schedule and for viewing and working with the Gantt chart.

**What do you dislike about Microsoft Project Server?**

When the organizational version changes, the version management of the files becomes problematic. Files that were previously used can become different, and some functionalities may be lost as a result.

**What problems is Microsoft Project Server solving and how is that benefiting you?**

It is important for us to have visibility into the delivery plan for projects, as well as to monitor how the timeline is progressing. This allows us to conduct inspections at various milestones and receive significant alerts when necessary.

 ### 9. Useful project planning platform in collaborating with internal colleagues and external vendors

**Rating:** 2.5/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Verified User in Biotechnology | Mid-Market (51-1000 emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** October 02, 2025

**What do you like best about Microsoft Project Server?**

As it is the Microsoft platform, program and project-relevant information that crosses Microsoft, for example, MS Project, PowerPoint, Excel, can perceive to be "all in one place" for cross-talk/usage and application, and for cross-function teams' access. It also assists with more convenient organization across programs within the portofolio, for example, the project plans "look and feel" the same for all programs!

**What do you dislike about Microsoft Project Server?**

The platform in some ways is quite complex and required IT support on configuration and subsequent maintenance. The price is steep as our company is charged monthly one license per user or per laptop. It is mentioned that this will be discontinued by September 2026, which is just a little short of one year from now!

**What problems is Microsoft Project Server solving and how is that benefiting you?**

Microsoft Project server is beneficial for my program management team to harmonize the "use and feel" across programs, and we have this on the "cloud" so multiple users can have access at the same time.

 ### 10. MPS

**Rating:** 4.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Verified User in Information Technology and Services | Mid-Market (51-1000 emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** August 08, 2025

**What do you like best about Microsoft Project Server?**

Easy to use, not a lot of training needed and does what we need it to do. Also has the capability to take notes of your meeting.

**What do you dislike about Microsoft Project Server?**

Sometimes lags, but this might be my server and not the actual program.

**What problems is Microsoft Project Server solving and how is that benefiting you?**

Takes notes of the meeting so I don't have to miss something because I am trying to take notes.
