Repetitive tasks can be automated with a variety of point-and-click options. We can create tables, forms, reports and email, print or export them. We have over 200 dance competitions throughout North America and during the busy season have 32 weekend events in the USA and 28 in Canada. Access allows us to create and dive deep into the financials, preparation and organization of each event. This includes sales, videographer and photographer contact info, pay, accommodations, event details, notes regarding the event, variety of billing reports and much more. Backing up work is a must since a crash may corrupt the file you're working on. It may work great for some business models, but I work for a large, global company with hundreds of entities and business units which need to be tracked and this system is too time-consuming to use and difficult to install for new people. It's great for detailed databases, but you don't have to get bogged down in blacks, whites, and grays only. So, the user can be as creative as they want to be. **What do you dislike about Microsoft Access?** I haven't used the latest, yet, but it used to be hard to create a CSV list for exporting. It would be nice if Microsoft would redesign the database to allow using individual names for an email mailing. I want to personalize each person's email rather than generically sending them Bcc'd. Also, I've seen no improvement on alphabetizing more than one column for sorting. I'd like a list where last names are sorted, then first names, then addresses and so on. **Recommendations to others considering Microsoft Access:** There's heftier database software around, but Access will allow beginners to get their feet wet. Additionally, I appreciate all the options I have when creating new columns (short text, drop downs, check boxes, etc). **What do you dislike about Microsoft Access?** While looking through the database is easy to do, it requires more patience and research to create the spreadsheets themselves. I can enter a person's name, contact information, our hiring decision, their offer to our response and document paperwork that has been given to the candidate. With many devices including a free year trial, Access is a widely known program that can used front-end OR back-end. Access allows data to be easily imported from Excel (Which is important to me as a user of both products). Report Wizard gives simple step by step instruction on customizing charts, graphs, reports, etc that can be quickly shared and updated. **What do you dislike about Microsoft Access?** While data on Access can be easily shared and updated by multiple individuals across many devices, it is best for small to medium business. Space is limited and, depending on personal usage, can rapidly max out. Also, while accessing info simultaneously by more than one individual is convenient, corruption problems arise if users are utilizing different operating systems. **Recommendations to others considering Microsoft Access:** I would recommend Access to entry level or non computer saavy users like myself. It offers a variety of tools and wizards to walk you through all possible uses of the software. This may not be the most important attribute to some; But it greatly increases the depth to which I am able to utilize all features. **What problems is Microsoft Access solving and how is that benefiting you?** My preferred platform for data entry is actually Excel. However, I have found that using Access and Excel together helps to pick up where one application leaves off. Excel files can be imported directly into Access. You can then create and customize the report of your choice. A large portion of my working hours is spent simply gather necessary data. Access allows me to delegate portions of work out to multiple people (using Access or Excel); And then effortlessly merge all data on to one report. ### 39. I just cut and paste into a file created and import into my Microsoft Dynamics software. I have a third party create the files that are used for my purposes. I would like to find out what more the program offers.
