## Maxio Reviews
  ### 1. Platform as a whole is great, support is the let down

**Rating:** 2.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Harry D. | Operations Support Analyst, Enterprise (> 1000 emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** February 14, 2024

**What do you like best about Maxio?**

As users of the Advanced Billing platform, it has revolutionised our customer workflows and created great efficiency for our program.

**What do you dislike about Maxio?**

The support provided by the organisation from bug fixes, issues, and feature requests is nearly non-existent, with some issues waiting more than a year for resolution. Many of our support tickets are now several months without even a response.

**What problems is Maxio solving and how is that benefiting you?**

Advanced billing allowed us to incorporate automated dunning and notifications to our subscribers while offering more flexibility for subscription management.

  ### 2. I frequently use Maxio for day-to-day tasks, and it's rare for me to run into issues when using it.

**Rating:** 4.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Verified User in Computer Software | Mid-Market (51-1000 emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** February 26, 2024

**What do you like best about Maxio?**

What I find most helpful about Maxio is that it is not hard to learn, most of the functionalities can be easily understood, even without any prior experience with this or similar systems.

**What do you dislike about Maxio?**

What I dislike most about Maxio would probably be the issues we have with data not always syncing with our other systems, though I'm unsure if this would be an issue with Maxio itself or the integrations that we have set up.

**What problems is Maxio solving and how is that benefiting you?**

Maxio is my go-to system when it comes to checking the relevant information I need for billing, it benefits me since I know I can rely on Maxio for important data.

  ### 3. Great for professional services

**Rating:** 4.5/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Verified User in Management Consulting | Mid-Market (51-1000 emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** June 27, 2024

**What do you like best about Maxio?**

We are a consulting and coaching company with SOWs with different service lengths and amounts. We implemented Maxio a couple years ago and turned off our cumbersome spreadsheets. Best decision we made. Excellent implementation support along with monthly support.

**What do you dislike about Maxio?**

More custom reporting options would be helpful. Easy to add custom fields. However, unable to use excel like functionality on these custome fields. Also, reports are limited to 10 data fields in addition to Maxio required fields.

**What problems is Maxio solving and how is that benefiting you?**

Simplifies are monthly accounting and reporting for professional services.

**Official Response from Sydney Zaun:**

> Thank you for sharing your experience with Maxio. We value your feedback and continually strive to enhance our product.

  ### 4. Efficient and simple

**Rating:** 4.5/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Verified User in Computer Software | Mid-Market (51-1000 emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** August 26, 2024

**What do you like best about Maxio?**

Very easy to navigate and has lots of features. I also had an issue once but they were able to resolve it in a jiffy.

**What do you dislike about Maxio?**

It's kinda annoying to log in with an OTP every time despite me clicking "Remember" but I understand it is for security.

**What problems is Maxio solving and how is that benefiting you?**

Automation and statement or invoice issuing.

**Official Response from Sydney Zaun:**

> We're glad to hear that you find Maxio easy to navigate and appreciate the features. Our team is committed to providing efficient support for any issues that may arise.

  ### 5. Chargify

**Rating:** 4.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Angel V. | Mid-Market (51-1000 emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** February 09, 2024

**What do you like best about Maxio?**

I like that most of our clients' billing info can be easily traced using the product. It's very easy to navigate despite our clients having different data centers or currencies

**What do you dislike about Maxio?**

I wish there was an easier way to search for transactions for cases where we have minimum details to work with

**What problems is Maxio solving and how is that benefiting you?**

-It helps us verify transactions and account details
-Tracing back invoices issued
-Helps us identify an account's status (Canceled, dunning, etc)
-Checking the account activity

  ### 6. Maxio has been a great tool to use when searching for billing accounts from my team.

**Rating:** 5.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Verified User in Information Technology and Services | Mid-Market (51-1000 emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** February 08, 2024

**What do you like best about Maxio?**

The search functionality is honestly a really good feature.

We use this a lot in our line of work to double check transactions made by our customers and verify a lot of details.

Really easy to implement changes to the team, and very easy for our support team to understand.

It's used on a regular basis as well, so we haven't ran into much trouble with this so far.

**What do you dislike about Maxio?**

Sometimes there's a bug when searching for the invoice number where it would show you the correct one at first then it just doesn't after.

**What problems is Maxio solving and how is that benefiting you?**

Easily identify what transactions were made and if errors are happening gives us a clear indictation.

  ### 7. Maxio is easy and fast to update for inputting customer subscription details

**Rating:** 5.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Ariane B. | Operations Associate, Enterprise (> 1000 emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** February 08, 2024

**What do you like best about Maxio?**

I like the UI - easy on the eyes, easy to navigate, loading is fast, search bars allow invoice numbers, names, and dates

**What do you dislike about Maxio?**

I don't like how it's still relatively known as Chargify in our system

**What problems is Maxio solving and how is that benefiting you?**

Users will ask for copies of their invoices (receipt of payments) or ask when they were charged. They will also come in asking for error messages why their payments are not coming through successfully.

  ### 8. Maxio streamlines our complex E2E invoicing and revenue recognition

**Rating:** 4.5/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Verified User in Information Technology and Services | Small-Business (50 or fewer emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** November 13, 2023

**What do you like best about Maxio?**

Maxio is a very flexible end to end solution that has allowed us to streamline our invoicing and revenue recognition policies. We previously did this manually in spreadsheets and was taking anywhere up to 30-40 hours per month, Maxio has allowed us to reduce this to 10-15 whilst increasing volume of invoices significantly and increasing accuracy of our revenue recognition. Overall love Maxio, its reporting is really detailed too!

**What do you dislike about Maxio?**

There is a lot of functionality which can be a bit overwhelming at the start, however once you get used to the process there seems like there is always an answer to every situation you might come across.

Multi entity still needs a lot of work however Maxio have this in WIP.

**What problems is Maxio solving and how is that benefiting you?**

- Streamlining revenue recognition and increasing accuracy
- Allow us to take invoicing structure to a new level and offering flexibity to our customers
- Helping with collections on invoices using auto reminders
- Allowing for deep dives on ARR and its monthly movements

  ### 9. Much, much more than a billing system

**Rating:** 4.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Tim K. | Mid-Market (51-1000 emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** November 13, 2023

**What do you like best about Maxio?**

System enforces that contract value, scheduled revenue and invoices are all to the same total amount. This is an amazing feature that isn't found in similar billing systems- you basically can't get your invoice and revenue amounts out of kilter.

Maxio understands SaaS metrics very well, so that the reporting features are strong for those types of businesses. It's able to produce NRR charts which are very useful.

For me and my team, this is a daily use system. It's effectively a Revenue subledger, which provides adequate detail downstream into our General Ledger system. I've also integrated with Stripe at previous companies.

**What do you dislike about Maxio?**

I've tried their payments platform (Stripe replacement) and it's fine. Not sure it's a huge benefit over Stripe, but the one-stop shop has some utility I guess (it's not a big part of our business).

**What problems is Maxio solving and how is that benefiting you?**

Maxio is our billing engine, so invoicing customers is done through the platform.
Maxio ensures that we recognize the right amount of revenue, relative to the customer contract and the invoiced amount (have to be equal).
I use Maxio for my journal entries for Revenue, AR, Deferred Revenue and Uninvoiced revenue. It's essentially our revenue subledger, which contains all the customer-by-customer, contract-by-contract, details.

  ### 10. Chargify - One stop solution for your subscription management

**Rating:** 5.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Vicky T. | Engineering Manager, Computer Software, Mid-Market (51-1000 emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** October 24, 2023

**What do you like best about Maxio?**

We are using Chargify to manage subscription on our platform. Its easy to use and cluter free platform. They provide better onboarding procedure.

- Subscription management and addons for the subscription was easy to itegrate.
- No matter what the case is for your subscription management Chargify has the solution for it.

**What do you dislike about Maxio?**

What we think is Chargify can be improved for better repoting.

**What problems is Maxio solving and how is that benefiting you?**

Chargify help us to manage all over subscription small to enterprise grade subscription. We are also using metered usage of addons to charge our customer and that is easy to integrate. We are using Chargify via their website and also API. APIs are easy to use and integrate.

  ### 11. Finance focused results

**Rating:** 3.5/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Verified User in Computer Software | Mid-Market (51-1000 emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** February 06, 2024

**What do you like best about Maxio?**

Maxio has the ability to manage customers from a finance perspective and is able to track contract management as well as push to an outside billing platform like Quickbooks.

**What do you dislike about Maxio?**

Overall, I've been disappointed with the integrations of Maxio to products like Salesforce that are vital to our business. There is an integration but it is clunky and triggers errors quite often. It's also hard to make mass updates to any data in Maxio and requires the help of our Account Manager.

**What problems is Maxio solving and how is that benefiting you?**

Maxio helps us calculate the SaaS metrics with each contract (MRR, ARR, etc). It also helps us track customers revenue recognition schedules.

  ### 12. Maxio is the only solution that could meet my complex needs and they have great customer support

**Rating:** 5.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Richard A. | Chief Technology Officer, Small-Business (50 or fewer emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** August 14, 2023

**What do you like best about Maxio?**

Maxio (formerly Chargify) has allowed me to handle any and all billing requirements my business has needed, including monthly billing, usage based billing, and prepaid voucher. We use it for telecommunications services, consulting services, and a variety of other one-time and ongoing services we provide to our customers. The online documentation for the product as well as the API is extensive and we have been able to integrate Maxio with our website, customer portal, backend automation systems, accounting systems, even SMS messaging integration using Twilio. When I have had a question or a problem, Maxio support has always been available and attempted to resolve the issue right away. Their higher tier support has resolved or added functionality relatively quickly when needed. After all the time I spent looking at different solutions, I still believe I couldn't have achieved the same outlook with the alternative solutions on the market.

**What do you dislike about Maxio?**

Maxio billing is complex, in part because it supports a variety of use cases and complex needs. Getting started can take some time and you may find that you started in one direction with the design and it would be better to approach it differently. You can do that in Maxio but it can take some time get it things set up just the way you need it for your particular solution.

**What problems is Maxio solving and how is that benefiting you?**

Maxio automates my monthly airtime, telecom, and consulting services and automatically syncs accounting data with my accounting software, plus it integrates with the payment processor I already use to leverage negotiated rates. Maxio's extensive API and Integrations allow me to further automate my owner customer support, communications, and backend processes. It also improved billing accuracy to nearly 100% over manual billing and nearly eliminated having to contact customers for payment information updates. Without Maxio we would spend many hours per week manually billing and our accuracy would be much lower.

  ### 13. Simple, yet powerful platform.

**Rating:** 4.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Jackson B. | Mid-Market (51-1000 emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** February 08, 2024

**What do you like best about Maxio?**

Before Maxio, our business struggled to find basic financial metrics, such as ARR. Now with Maxio, we get those metrics and more. It's a great tool for any small to medium size business looking to upgrade their financial reporting.

**What do you dislike about Maxio?**

The initial setup process can be very difficult. We have a relatively easy business model, but it still required advanced knowledge of finance and CRN integrations. They suppplied an onboarding specialist to help, however.

**What problems is Maxio solving and how is that benefiting you?**

As mentioned, we struggled to get an insight into our subscription managemet, annual financial metrics, and other basic SAAS metrics. Maxio has given us that insight.

  ### 14. Very reliable and effective

**Rating:** 4.5/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Jeff P. | Mid-Market (51-1000 emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** February 09, 2024

**What do you like best about Maxio?**

Accounts are easy to find as there are many ways to search for them. Either by the transaction details or by just the invoice number.

**What do you dislike about Maxio?**

Always getting logged out of the website gets frustrating as I get logged out even after verifying through OTP on the same day

**What problems is Maxio solving and how is that benefiting you?**

Keeping track of subscription payments and verifying if transactions come through or not.

  ### 15. Maxio gives us confidence in ARR data and our renewals process

**Rating:** 4.5/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Verified User in Computer Software | Mid-Market (51-1000 emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** October 26, 2023

**What do you like best about Maxio?**

Maxio allowed us to move out of error prone spreadsheets to manage annual SaaS renewals and provide us a high degree of confidence on ARR data, accuracy of renewal processing and a professional billing engine. We have it syncing with Quickbooks and Salesforce so all three systems are up to date in real time. Putting in Maxio has reduced error rates, improved visibility in the sales org and streamlined some ARR reporting.

The implementation, as with anything that reports on this level of granular detail, is a lot of one-time effort, but the Maxio implementation team was there along side us, step-by-step.

We reviewed many platform before choosing Maxio and now that we are live (2 months), we would have chosen Maxio again.

**What do you dislike about Maxio?**

Detailed sales ops reporting is not robust. For example, the ability to report on what is "up for renewal" and how we performed against that, is not as robust as we'd hoped. We may consider adding on a reporting platform that sits on top of Maxio.

**What problems is Maxio solving and how is that benefiting you?**

We managed ARR and GAAP reporting in Excel (disaster) and Maxio solved that for us. Additionally, Maxio made the renewal process more streamlined (so we aren't missing renewals) and with the sync to Salesforce, it provided more visibility to Sales Ops (ARR, billing, past due payments, etc) within Salesforce.

  ### 16. MAXIO, A platform who take care of all your financial operation.

**Rating:** 4.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Priyanka S. | Account Coordinator, Mid-Market (51-1000 emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** July 26, 2023

**What do you like best about Maxio?**

I've been working on the Maxio platform for the past few months, and I've been very impressed with the platform. It's a platform that can help businesses of all sizes to manage their billing and other financial-related things. The platform is also very customizable, so businesses can tailor it to their specific needs. I would highly recommend Maxio to any business that is looking for an advanced financial operation platform.

**What do you dislike about Maxio?**

I agree that every platform has its own limitations, and Maxio is no exception. However, I also believe that the developers of Maxio are committed to improving the platform and addressing the limitations that have been identified. Firstly I think they need to launch their mobile app. Also, all currencies need to be accepted there. Also, this platform doesn't offer integration with all accounting software.

**What problems is Maxio solving and how is that benefiting you?**

I'm happy to say that Maxio has been helpful to our business. It's great to say that this platform solves many of our billing and financial challenges. It is easy to use, its customization is awesome.

  ### 17. Best SMB-MMB billing option available on the market - bar none

**Rating:** 5.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Michael W. | Operations, Mid-Market (51-1000 emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** August 10, 2023

**What do you like best about Maxio?**

Maxio is the only platfrom that is geared 100% to SaaS. there are other players out there by its like tryign to fit a square peg in a round hole. If you are a SaaS company that is SMB/MMB there is no better product.

**What do you dislike about Maxio?**

Thus far, it seems to be all greens across the board. If I had to get nit-picky, as it is a newer product, there are a few nice to haves that are still being built out. Id like the ability to create custom contract durations to help corrall the sales team but revenue/formula wise, I know that can be a complicated feature.

**What problems is Maxio solving and how is that benefiting you?**

Our previous tool Chargebee tried to do everything well and as a result it felt like nothign was optimized. With Maxio I have confidence in the metrics, rev rec and the maturity of a tool that is focused strily on SaaS. The reporting in know which invoices need to be followed up with and the ease of the integration to SFDC is great. The amount of data that passes back to the CS team is paramount in helping them serve our customers well.

  ### 18. A cluster trapped inside a dumpster fire

**Rating:** 0.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Courtney S. | CEO, Founder | Specializing in Security Guard Management Software, Small-Business (50 or fewer emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** January 24, 2024

**What do you like best about Maxio?**

Prior to the integration, the platform was fairly user friendly and had competent support. Since the merger, this has been the worst experience that I have ever had with a SaaS platform. I am kicking myself daily for not migrating to another platform sooner.

**What do you dislike about Maxio?**

I can't say there is anything that I like about the platform. The merger of the 2 companies has been a calamity for my organization.

**What problems is Maxio solving and how is that benefiting you?**

Maxio bills my customers so that we didn't have to build our own billing and subscription management platform. Every month I regret that decision.

  ### 19. Point of contact solution of SAAS billing

**Rating:** 4.5/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Shuangyi H. | Mid-Market (51-1000 emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** February 08, 2024

**What do you like best about Maxio?**

I like the fact that Maxio is a powerful tool for SaaS biz reporting and it's rev rec moduel is very user friendly.

**What do you dislike about Maxio?**

Not I can think of at this moment. I think the downside is that we would want to see a better integration between NS and Maxio.

**What problems is Maxio solving and how is that benefiting you?**

Rev rec for tierd pricing contracts

  ### 20. Very good tool itself, however we constantly have troubles with customer support service

**Rating:** 4.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Verified User in Accounting | Mid-Market (51-1000 emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** May 28, 2024

**What do you like best about Maxio?**

This tool is super helpfull to track financial KPI's, it makes billing process and credit control process very efficient

**What do you dislike about Maxio?**

Unfortunately, we constantly struggle with customer support service

**What problems is Maxio solving and how is that benefiting you?**

KPI's tracking, revenue recognition schedule, customer debts tracking, billing

  ### 21. 10 months of an onboarding nightmare

**Rating:** 0.5/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Daniel P. | Small-Business (50 or fewer emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** September 08, 2023

**What do you like best about Maxio?**

- The Maxio interface (excluding SaaSOptics) is clean

- Our experience was so bad that it pushed us to find another solution and we found Chargebee. They have been amazing and accomplished in 4 weeks what took Maxio 10 months.

**What do you dislike about Maxio?**

- We are a small company and the onboarding process took over 10 months to complete.

- The Chargify/Maxio billing API is a nightmare. We have a usage-based billing product that consistently showed issues (incorrect invoices) every single month we used Chargify/Maxio. Our developer is a former Google dev and expressed that he has never been more frustrated with a company than he was with Chargify/Maxio. His points below:

1. No Golang API.
2. Their API was poorly documented and things had to be guessed.
3. Everyone is enrolled in everything, just use a non-zero usage to activate. This made it impossible to indicate programmatically that there was no usage but should be a default bill, so I needed to send 1 when 0 was the usage AND I needed to remember which service the customer was using
4. Time zones never did get figured out. Eventually we abandoned recording usage on the first & last day of the month
5. highest-day-billed is not an available feature set, which meant yet another thing our billing integration had to take care of.
6. There was little time to verify the bills before they went out. It did not appear configurable
7. Consultants seemed to struggle with their own system.
8. There was effectively no way to 'dry-run' without changing all the parameters for a shorter time period which then work differently. It effectively required building an unrelated system which we had no time for.
9. Negative usages horror: you can't correct something day-by-day, because if it ever goes below zero (when sending a negative usage update) then it would keep it at 0, so this required managing all usage records at once for a customer.
10. Usage queries returned every record for a user forever, so filtering was a chore, especially considering the timezone mess. Queries were required to set usage to match our system because you couldn't just express a value: it was always an accumulation

- Chargify/Maxio used Guide CX for our onboarding checklist. It was a confusing list and the descriptions for each item were blank (zero help documentation and zero context). We were told after a month or so that the onboarding template we were using wasn't even applicable to our business and they would need to update it.

- We found it nearly impossible to get in touch with management when our implementation consultant for the first 6 months was negligent and refused to communicate. He was eventually replaced.

- With both the old and new implementation consultants, the only way we had a record of meeting notes and action items (including things that needed to be done on their end) was if WE took the notes and emailed them the action items. On many occasions, it took multiple emails from us with the same action items to get anything accomplished.

- We wanted to migrate our existing customers over in bulk (from QuickBooks and SamCart) and avoid having them re-submit credit card info and we were told in the sales call that this was both possible and easy. Three months post-sales call, we were unable to get ahold of the technical solutions consultant who promised the easy solution and had still not migrated our customers due to the implementation consultant telling us the bulk migration was difficult and cumbersome. We ended up going the exact route we didn't want to take and spent 10s of hours migrating customers manually and asking them to re-submit their credit card information via the public signup pages.

- Our product catalog was built entirely wrong at the advice of the implementation consultant and had to be completely rebuilt. We had no revenue visibility for 8 months other than the lump sum.

- We waited weeks for responses from everyone we spoke to at Chargify/Maxio.

- We weren't instructed that we needed to enable 3D Secure in Braintree, which lead to a host of client issues with the public signup pages, multiple support tickets dragged out over weeks, and thousands of dollars of lost revenue.

- The only way to triage our clients' tech issues was by asking them to complete technical tasks beyond their understanding (screenshotting their browser console, for example), which left them frustrated and waiting sometimes multiple weeks for answers.

- We were told we could use the SaaSOptics / Quickbooks integration to make life easier for our accountant. After 4 months of asking about it, we were finally told that, since we had two business entities in one account, we would have to pick only one instance to connect to QuickBooks. For the other business, we would have to export an invoice CSV file and manually upload to Quickbooks. We were also advised that the Quickbooks connection was clunky and not recommended.

- SaaSOptics was a nightmare to use and resulted in a lot of frustration. It was difficult to produce even a simple revenue report. We found this out after a few weeks of the Chargify/Maxio debating internally on whether or not revenue reports were included in our $600/month plan.

- The only way to customize the public signup pages was by altering the javascript.

- For products with components, the client has to specify a quantity of "1" for each component of the plan. If they screw this up, they are either overcharged (if >1 for each component is chosen) or the component has to then be manually added to their account.
The only way to lock the values of components on a public signup page is by using javascript.

- There is no option for cash-based accounting, only accrual.

- The implementation consultant wanted to speak with our accountant regarding a Quickbooks item sync and a few other items involving monthly tasks for the accountant. We don't have a full-time accountant, meetings with outside softwares is not factored into our accounting package, and we certainly weren't factoring in the extra expense of training an accountant on a new software.

- For more complicated products with multiple components or billing scenarios, testing was limited. With an API as complicated as Maxio's, we really needed a feature like Chargebee's "time machine" to ensure our products and components were working properly.

- Because the implementation dragged out to almost a year, one of my most talented employees was constantly tied up in communications, troubleshooting, and firefighting. This was expensive monetarily... but more importantly, it was a HUGE misallocation of her considerable talent. Other projects that she was working on dragged out because of this absolute joke of a company.

**What problems is Maxio solving and how is that benefiting you?**

We signed up for Maxio because we wanted 1) the ability to create custom contracts (duration and amount) and 2) the ability to bill for our usage-based software

  ### 22. I use maxio every day at my job. It allows me to help clients and makes my days much easier.

**Rating:** 4.5/5.0 stars

**What do you like best about Maxio?**

Th ease of use. The information is easily accessible and i can alwasy find what i am looking for.

**What do you dislike about Maxio?**

My only complaint is some times on the invoice specific pages, there are 2 areas of scrolling, and only 1 will work, so at times you get tuck on one spot of the page.

**What problems is Maxio solving and how is that benefiting you?**

They allow me to better service my clients and see what exactly they are seeing because we dont internally use the same terms as show up on the bill.

  ### 23. Gets the job done

**Rating:** 3.5/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Verified User in Computer Software | Mid-Market (51-1000 emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** June 04, 2024

**What do you like best about Maxio?**

Any and all documentation. I work in data and this has been helpful when modeling data from either system.

**What do you dislike about Maxio?**

Documentation on the differences between MRR between systems.

**What problems is Maxio solving and how is that benefiting you?**

Revenue Recognition

  ### 24. Working with SaaSOpitcs has been a really easy transition but wish Reporting was more customizable

**Rating:** 5.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Devon P. | Mid-Market (51-1000 emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** October 24, 2023

**What do you like best about Maxio?**

The ability to add as much information as I need to the Customer, Contract or Invoice pages, and how easy it integrates with Salesforce and QuickBooks to keep everything aligned.

**What do you dislike about Maxio?**

I feel like this is obvious, but Reporting. I want to group or filter or just have the view be different and there are limitations where you can't really get what you want but have to use the system as is and just make it work.

**What problems is Maxio solving and how is that benefiting you?**

Knowing the ARR and MRR by month and by transaction. Easy to reconcile with actual invoices sent vs the Revenue we expected.

  ### 25. Robust and convenient data and reporting

**Rating:** 4.5/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Adam S. | Mid-Market (51-1000 emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** October 26, 2023

**What do you like best about Maxio?**

I find it is easy to navigate and find the information I need and the setup is tailored to our business needs. The reporting capabilities are also very helpful.

**What do you dislike about Maxio?**

The security is tight getting in the site so need to receive a phone call with a token. But I get it for the security and only a minor inconvenience.

**What problems is Maxio solving and how is that benefiting you?**

We previously had challenges navigating different systems to get different account and billing info. I use Maxio daily because it stores so much of the information I need, and it's easy to find.

  ### 26. Does all the basics and more

**Rating:** 4.5/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Sheri E. | Small-Business (50 or fewer emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** May 24, 2023

**What do you like best about Maxio?**

The simplicity of the basics, MRR, momentum, churn. I like how customized you can get with reporting.

**What do you dislike about Maxio?**

There is so much info it is hard to know if we are using everything we should be. Having a customer update their credit card before billing is a bit clunky.

**What problems is Maxio solving and how is that benefiting you?**

We were doing MRR reporting via excel and billing in Quickbooks. This streamlined the process and has given us a lot of reporting options to look at our business

  ### 27. Easy to use and set up.

**Rating:** 4.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** John L. | Chief Financial Officer, Mid-Market (51-1000 emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** February 07, 2024

**What do you like best about Maxio?**

The team are really helpful and it just works. Saved lots of time for both the team preparing and sending invoices, and for analysis and reporting.

**What do you dislike about Maxio?**

The merger means that there are a few bits that are clunky - but you can see them rapidly improving the system.

**What problems is Maxio solving and how is that benefiting you?**

We have moved from lots of clunky spreadsheets to instant reporting. We're also getting much easier insight into how our customers are performing.

  ### 28. I'm using Maxio (formerly SaaSOptics) 4 years

**Rating:** 4.5/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Julius M. | Manager Internal Applications, Mid-Market (51-1000 emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** July 18, 2023

**What do you like best about Maxio?**

Intuitive API option to create or update the records.

**What do you dislike about Maxio?**

API is limited to getting the auto-renewal invoices.

**What problems is Maxio solving and how is that benefiting you?**

Integration with HubSpot and QuickBooks solves the synchronization between CRM and financial applications.

  ### 29. Lots of functionality with lots of issues

**Rating:** 1.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Verified User in Computer Software | Mid-Market (51-1000 emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** May 23, 2024

**What do you like best about Maxio?**

Maxio allows us to run a quick report on deferred revenue.

**What do you dislike about Maxio?**

We run into problems updating numbers, fields, and anything in Maxio. Every month there seems to be a new challenge to using Maxio.

**What problems is Maxio solving and how is that benefiting you?**

Deferred revenue calculations can be more accurate.

  ### 30. Great SaaS invoicing app

**Rating:** 4.5/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Verified User in Information Technology and Services | Mid-Market (51-1000 emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** June 05, 2024

**What do you like best about Maxio?**

It has interfaces with small ERP, great module for deferred revenue and rev rec. Fairly user friendly for not too savvy finance staff

**What do you dislike about Maxio?**

Insufficient standard reports so have to build a lot more than expected.

**What problems is Maxio solving and how is that benefiting you?**

Yes, works as we expect it to

  ### 31. Great platform to help you better manage your saas business

**Rating:** 5.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Andy P. | Mid-Market (51-1000 emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** February 22, 2024

**What do you like best about Maxio?**

- rhobust saas platform that integrates great with SF.COM and Netsuite
- subscription mgmt / billng / reporting / dunning all work well
- great support and onboarding
- easy to use

**What do you dislike about Maxio?**

Reporting is a little rigid in certain areas

**What problems is Maxio solving and how is that benefiting you?**

ties our systems together gives us one source of truth for all saas & billing

  ### 32. No Regrets - Reliable, Robust, Supportive, Evolving

**Rating:** 5.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Nikhil G. | Product Operations Lead, Computer Software, Mid-Market (51-1000 emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** May 28, 2023

**What do you like best about Maxio?**

For over 13 years, we have used Chargify (now Maxio) for our subscription management and billing. The platform has been stable, robust and we have never experienced any major issues. We love the flexibility of connecting our systems with Maxio through the API for custom design flows while having many in-built options for standard functionality that saves development and testing time. On the odd occasion we've needed assistance with questions or minor issues, the support team have been responsive with live chat and very knowledgeable. I also like the ongoing improvement to the platform, with many features being released after good user research and feedback.

**What do you dislike about Maxio?**

We are on an older version of Maxio, having implemented it over a decade ago. This means a lot of the new functionality is not available to us until we make a number of substantial changes to our integration. Therefore, we've had to use alternative tools for reporting and invoicing. I wouldn't say this is a Maxio issue, rather just the nature of having to do ongoing maintenance to benefit from the latest functionality.

**What problems is Maxio solving and how is that benefiting you?**

Maxio makes it easy for us to manage our subscription revenue model, ensuring customers are charged the right amount at the right time. It is easy to create custom plans, modify plans or make bulk changes to subscriptions. It integrates with the main gateway providers and key systems such as CRM and accounting tools. This save us time, administration and errors, while ensuring revenue keeps flowing into our business.

  ### 33. Maxio (SaaSOptics)

**Rating:** 4.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Verified User in Medical Practice | Mid-Market (51-1000 emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** August 10, 2023

**What do you like best about Maxio?**

The ease of use on the platform, the ability to utilize automation via uploads and collections cadence as well as the flexibity of its reporting capability all contributes to the efficient use of the product. This product has been a great addition to our tools, especially with its capabiilty to integrate into different systems (i.e. stripe, quickbooks, avalara and more).

**What do you dislike about Maxio?**

One thing I dislike is the upload for transactions do not have the ability to apply a specific SSP within a revenue book. It only applies a standard legacy revenue treatment that is not applicable for all customers. Second, the e-invoice landing page link does not work when we send that link to customers as they cannot access their invoice, instead as a workaround we have to send the invoice directly through SaaSOptics which can be a bit tedious.

**What problems is Maxio solving and how is that benefiting you?**

The main problem this tool addresses is the revenue treatment, with the shift to ASC 606, SaaSOptics has been a great addition. This also increases productivity as we do not have to manually calculate our revenue and manually bill customers.

  ### 34. Extremely flexible for our complicated sales contracts.

**Rating:** 5.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Mindy D. | Small-Business (50 or fewer emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** May 23, 2023

**What do you like best about Maxio?**

I can't imagine ever considering another solution after using SaaSOptics (now Maxio) for several years. Our contracts are not one-size-fits-all, so we needed an extremely flexible system for our needs.
They regularly add features and improvements while not wholly disrupting the current process flows you are used to.
My experience of moving from an integrated GL (QBO) to a disconnected GL (SAP) created some extra work for me. However, Maxio's reporting makes it easy to post revenue and deferred revenue entries to our books. The entire time it takes me to post those entries, including reconciliation, is usually under 30 minutes.
In addition, the CRM (HubSpot) and payment integrations are great for improving our quote-to-cash flow. I'm so happy with our deferred revenue schedules that I've considered adding the feature to manage our deferred expenses.

**What do you dislike about Maxio?**

I wish there were more integration options with third-party sales tax filing/reporting software.

**What problems is Maxio solving and how is that benefiting you?**

We spent more time finding errors in our spreadsheets than posting our deferred entries. It has allowed us more time to focus on our priorities. Our billing is more streamlined than previously, and the CRM integration's hand-off from sales to finance is instant. We no longer have to chase sales reps for information on closed deals.

  ### 35. Excellent customer service and complete tool

**Rating:** 4.5/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Verified User in Information Technology and Services | Mid-Market (51-1000 emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** March 11, 2024

**What do you like best about Maxio?**

Customer service is helpful and the onboarding team supportive.

**What do you dislike about Maxio?**

Although the tool is complete, there are a few business cases that doesn't support. Like to accrue products by consumption instead of time.

**What problems is Maxio solving and how is that benefiting you?**

Automated billing and MRR reports.

  ### 36. End Unser Experience

**Rating:** 4.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Verified User in Accounting | Enterprise (> 1000 emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** February 07, 2024

**What do you like best about Maxio?**

I recently joined the company and started using this tool. I found this tool very easy to navigate and track orders, einvoicing and Payments. The reporting section is useful too to get detail reporting and analysis. I would recommend this to people into Subscription billing.

**What do you dislike about Maxio?**

Automated Features are missing from the reporting and overall the learning curve is high too. I also feel to get more insights to the data analysis and some flexibility can be offered to twick the information or data.

**What problems is Maxio solving and how is that benefiting you?**

Covered in earlier questions

  ### 37. Great product and great company to work with!

**Rating:** 5.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Christy M. | Controller, Small-Business (50 or fewer emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** May 02, 2023

**What do you like best about Maxio?**

Easily integrates with Salesforce, Avalara and QuickBooks. Fast and easy revenue recognition - saves so much time at month-end close! Reporting is great and so versatile and customizable for our needs. Customer service at every level (sales, implementation and support maintenance) has been steller - they are prompt, courteous, friendly and very knowledgeable of the product - a pleasure to work with.

**What do you dislike about Maxio?**

Some reprogramming is needed to account for the reversal of discounts reflected on a credit memo. When uploading transaction activity from QuickBooks, Maxio only allows for discounts to be entered as a negative amount. This is correct when discounts are reflected on an invoice. However, when a credit memo is entered and the discounts are reversed (causing them to be positive), Maxio will NOT accept them and will throw an error. This is incorrect logic in the programming. Depending on the transaction, the signs should be able to be adjusted accordingly.

**What problems is Maxio solving and how is that benefiting you?**

Revenue recognition of SaaS services per ASC606 protocol and SaaS analytical reporting. Reduced our work from days (done manually) to mins (push of a button) at month-end.

  ### 38. easy to learn and understand

**Rating:** 5.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Verified User in Computer Software | Mid-Market (51-1000 emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** February 22, 2024

**What do you like best about Maxio?**

easy to understand, update webinars every month about new features

**What do you dislike about Maxio?**

some of the syncing with quickbooks get messed up and hard to edit invoices

**What problems is Maxio solving and how is that benefiting you?**

the cadences are a nice benefit to helping invoices being sent automatically for being past due

  ### 39. Maxio makes it easy to send open invoices and automate annual increases to their SaaS subscriptions.

**Rating:** 5.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Verified User in Warehousing | Mid-Market (51-1000 emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** June 04, 2024

**What do you like best about Maxio?**

Being able to automate emails to clients who do not pay.

**What do you dislike about Maxio?**

There is nothing that I dislike about Maxio.

**What problems is Maxio solving and how is that benefiting you?**

Collecting payments to avoid suspension of services.

  ### 40. Straightforward SaaS invoice and revenue management

**Rating:** 5.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Chad S. | Senior Accountant, Small-Business (50 or fewer emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** May 02, 2023

**What do you like best about Maxio?**

Maxio is very user friendly. It's easy to bulk-edit records such as invoices or customer pages. The invoicing functionality works great, and can be integrated with 3rd parter cc processors in order to facilitate credit card payments. The revenue scheduling is easy to use as wel..

**What do you dislike about Maxio?**

The one area that I think could use some improvement is the reporting. Overall, the reporting does what it needs to do, but as a new user, I found I needed to test a few different revenue reports to find the one that was needed. This is overall a small issue though.

**What problems is Maxio solving and how is that benefiting you?**

Maxio solves the issue of generating and sending invoices - invoicing can now be done with just a few clicks. Maxio gives visibility into the status of our subscription cuistomers, such as who is coming up for renewal, and who has a contract that is nearing expiration.

  ### 41. Great B2B Revenue management solution for SAAS

**What do you dislike about Maxio?**

Reporting designs / UX could be improved.

**What problems is Maxio solving and how is that benefiting you?**

Automated manual SaaS metric and revenue reporting processes

  ### 42. Great app!

**Rating:** 5.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Verified User in Information Technology and Services | Enterprise (> 1000 emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** February 08, 2024

**What do you like best about Maxio?**

This is a pretty useful application to use

**What do you dislike about Maxio?**

Nothing really; Maxio is pretty efficient in my day to day

**What problems is Maxio solving and how is that benefiting you?**

I get to see the payments being made by our customer and assist them further when needed

  ### 43. Robust with great visibility

**Rating:** 4.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Verified User in Computer Software | Mid-Market (51-1000 emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** November 02, 2023

**What do you like best about Maxio?**

The ability to incorporate different fields and data points into views within the platform without having to pull a report to see them all.

**What do you dislike about Maxio?**

There are some times where we are calculating things outside of the software that feel like we should be able to have them automatically calculated inside of Maxio. May be a matter of how we are using it.

**What problems is Maxio solving and how is that benefiting you?**

Maxio is bringing together all of our billing and revenue recognition needs. We're benefiting from having all of this in one place.

  ### 44. New user to Maxio after using another subscription based billing tool for past 8 years

**Rating:** 4.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Revathi K. | Mid-Market (51-1000 emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** July 25, 2023

**What do you like best about Maxio?**

1. All Future dated invoices are immediately generated and available helping for forecast
2. Easy to create invoices with Non-standard Billing schedule

**What do you dislike about Maxio?**

1. Clubbing multiple products/items/transactions under 1 agreement in to 1 Subscription
2. Invoice status - Draft status to another(Posted) status, where sytem will sync only the posted invoice excluding the Draft invoices. This allows time to review and finalyse invoies. currently. all invoices sync to GL on the invoice date, where it becomes difficult to do any change after the invoice syncs to GL

**What problems is Maxio solving and how is that benefiting you?**

Solving our non-standard billing schedule requests and Revenue recognition

  ### 45. Generating invoices, tracking financial transactions, and managing billing cycles for businesses.

**Rating:** 4.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Abdul R. | Mid-Market (51-1000 emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** July 19, 2023

**What do you like best about Maxio?**

Easily can correct Invoices, Bulk editing, Payment Processing, Financial Reporting, Best Integration and Compatibility tool and best Customer sevice.

**What do you dislike about Maxio?**

Nothing as of now, good tool and user friendly

**What problems is Maxio solving and how is that benefiting you?**

Report creation is easy, and we can update invoices and customer accounts information in bulk.

  ### 46. Pretty easy for me to understand

**Rating:** 4.5/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Verified User in Computer Software | Mid-Market (51-1000 emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** July 27, 2023

**What do you like best about Maxio?**

I can modify which columns I see and their order for something that makes the most sense in my role. It is easy to figure out the process and have shown team members how to do this as well.

**What do you dislike about Maxio?**

Not all the information is always easy for me to find (based on my permissions). Luckily I have a team availalbe and they respond quickly. Also, there is no easy way to re-subscribe to invoices if a client accidentally unsubscribes.

**What problems is Maxio solving and how is that benefiting you?**

I can tell when we've invoiced clients and for which produts. I can also see what type of billing terms they are on and when they paid last. As well as their method of payment they use vs what they say they will use.

  ### 47. It's alright

**Rating:** 1.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Verified User in Computer Software | Small-Business (50 or fewer emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** November 08, 2022

**What do you like best about Maxio?**

The set-up was easier than expected and before it because MAXIO the support was awesome. Since the change, you can tell they are trying to cut costs on support because they try to force you into searching the help docs before you talk chat with a person. It's in place and works.

**What do you dislike about Maxio?**

Since the merger, support has been lacking. Some of the MRR reporting can be lacking. For example, if you have annual subscriptions and something weird happens with payments unless you really jump through some hoops you aren't going to see that in your MRR reporting.

UPDATE: We encountered a bug that was preventing us from signing up new customers. Reported it to them and they acknowledged it. One week later there has been no update from them on fixing it. We have found a workaround on our own but it seems they really don't care. I'd be wary about signing up as the support which I found to be outstanding when it was Chargify is just getting worse and worse.

**What problems is Maxio solving and how is that benefiting you?**

Billing and subscription management. It saves us the time of having to build and maintain our own system.

  ### 48. Maxio is easy to use and search for contracts / customers

**Rating:** 4.5/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Verified User in Information Technology and Services | Small-Business (50 or fewer emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** July 25, 2023

**What do you like best about Maxio?**

Ease of use is important - I like that I can easily make transaction reports, access invoices and quickly make edits to contracts / customer information. It didn't require too much time to learn the basics of the product.

**What do you dislike about Maxio?**

There is so much to do at Maxio. I feel like I've only scratched the surface of what Maxio can do. Sometimes it requires a lot of clicks to get to invoices or access the specific pdf of the invoice.

**What problems is Maxio solving and how is that benefiting you?**

Maxio allows me to access billing and subscription information for all customers, and pro-actively check for upcoming renewals. I can set up renewal reminders to myself for a 30-60-90 day cadence. It helps keep me organized and aware of upcoming changes for customers.

  ### 49. RIP Monster Revenue/Booking Revenue Recognition Spreadsheet that no one wanted to deal with

**Rating:** 4.5/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Verified User in Computer Software | Small-Business (50 or fewer emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** May 24, 2023

**What do you like best about Maxio?**

Before using Maxio for one of my clients, I had a very complex/ large Excel file that I used to reconcile bookings, ARR, renewals, invoicing, and revenue. The Excel file worked for our small finance team, but as this client grew, it became clear that we needed a new solution - no one outside of the finance team wanted to touch that gargantuan file (also, it became so big that it would sometimes cause Excel to crash).

Switching over to Maxio has not only saved me hours each month on the revenue, invoicing, and bookings reconciliation (which also saves my client hundreds of dollars each month on their bill from my firm), but it has also allowed the rest of the team to engage with all things revenue. I've created dashboards for the Customer Partnerships and Sales teams so that they can see upcoming renewals, A/R balances, and the committed ARR flux (and how it's made up) comprehensively, without having to ping our very small finance team for information.

It is also a huge relief to know that our total bookings/revenue ties to the total invoicing for each deal. Before switching over to Maxio for invoicing, we had to manually schedule and send invoices through an external system, which was very time-consuming - especially for multi-year contracts. With Maxio, you are forced to schedule all of your invoices for a booking when you process the booking and revenue, so you know that your transactions stay in balance.

**What do you dislike about Maxio?**

Unless you have a very simple revenue model and invoicing schedule, transactions should only be processed in Maxio by users with a strong revenue recognition background. I can't imagine trying to hand off the transaction processing to my client. Although you only need to worry about processing revenue, bookings, and invoices per booking event, if your client has ramp-up invoicing or deals with several amendments, it can be quite time-consuming to reconcile. If my client had an annual invoicing schedule and had a clear line item breakdown on their contracts, I would be more inclined to trust someone else with the data.

While there have been many improvements with the reporting over the years, there are still some simple features that Maxio lacks, such as the ability to customize the order of rows and columns, or to customize the names of the labels on a report. This can be a nuisance when sharing information on our dashboards since the default order of rows and columns is alphabetical, which is not always the most intuitive format (especially for people that aren't as keen with numbers).

Another issue I have with the reporting is that the logic of their renewal reports does not accommodate customers that have multiple contracts that do not co-term precisely. While it would be ideal for a given customer to have all of their contracts end/renew on the same date, that's not always possible. For customers that fall in the situation, the renewal report will only show "renewable" ARR based on the contract with the latest end date. For example, if you have a client with $10K up for renewal in June and another $20K in December, you will only see the renewable amount for the contract that is up for renewal in December. I would love to use this report, but instead I have to manually piece together renewal data myself to get the full picture.

**What problems is Maxio solving and how is that benefiting you?**

-Ensuring that Bookings/Revenue/Invoicing all balance - if there is any discrepancy, Maxio flags this as "out-of-balance" so there's no surprises.
-Making end-of-month revenue journal entries and reconciliation quick and easy. Since invoices and revenue are managed in the same system, you don't have to worry about invoice line items that vary from each other - Maxio just sorts out what needs to be booked to reconcile your revenue at the end of each month.
-Giving our finance team a platform to share our data with other teams - I can share information with other team members without having to use Excel

  ### 50. Great product and great team!

**Rating:** 5.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Verified User in Computer Software | Mid-Market (51-1000 emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** May 24, 2023

**What do you like best about Maxio?**

The integration between maxio and our accounting tools and also Salesforce works seemlessly and gives us the confidence that the data flow between our systems is not onlytimely but maintains its integrity. Maxio does what it says on the tin, it clearly and intuitively outlines deferred income schedules while the auidt log for invoicing has allowed us to significantly improve on the timing of collections in very short order after implementation. The customer support team are extremely responsive and always happy to jump on a call while the implementation team were extremely comunicative throughout and made the whole process painless.

**What do you dislike about Maxio?**

Maxio sometimes requires workarounds if a transaction which has aready been synced to your accounting software requires adjustments, this is particulary prevalent for credit notes. Once the team were up to speed with Maxio we were able to make the adjustments required but some samples or walkthroughs of this process during onboarding could be useful for new customers.

**What problems is Maxio solving and how is that benefiting you?**

Assuming the data being imported from Salesforce is clean Maxio is very straightforward. Reviewing customers and billing on an individual level is extremely easy and allows us to better understand and forecast for renewals, expansions and churn. Alongside rev rec and billing Maxio has allowed us to collect over 90% of receipts on time.
