What do you like best about Martus?

The online platform looks great and the technical capabilities are very high. Learning how to utilize the program is not intuitive however Martus makes up for this by providing excellent customer support. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

I find that Martus is very passive in terms of where to go, what to do next and how to complete budget sections. The program does not lead you and is not structured in a manner that is sequential. It is difficult to get a birds eye view on what you have done and what still needs to be completed. The program requires a great deal of customer support to get it set up and working. In addition, Martus does not offer a Contracts module. This is very important in terms of budgeting as your YTD balance versus your YTD Balance PLUS encumbered amounts drastically changes what you have available to spend. I think this is a non negotiable component that Martus needs to add as soon as feasibly possible. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

What do you like best about Martus?

Martus integrates smoothly with our accounting software and provides useful reports that staff can run easily. It also lets us set permissions in a way that gives users straightforward access to their own departments. The reports are simple to run and save. The software allows for exports to and imports from Excel, which we find exceptionally handy in budget preparation. The cost is very reasonable for the tools it affords us. Martus syncs each night with our accounting system so actual revenue and expenses are kept up-to-date. What do you dislike about Martus?

Martus has very beneficial reports which allow us to drill down to see the details of transactions. It's very helpful to read the memos of transactions while reviewing budget-to-actual reports. However, the drill down option is not available from all report configurations. A P&L by month does allow drill down to details while the same P&L organized by department does not. "Martus: Streamlined, Secure Budgeting — Accurate Budgets with Granular Access"

What do you like best about Martus?

Martus gives our staff immediate access to their individual budgets, eliminating the need for me to send out 13 separate spreadsheets. The account settings make it simple to show each person only what they need to see while preventing access to restricted information. The budgeting tool was easy to learn and included useful features that helped produce more accurate budgets.

I was also blown away by our onboarding experience with Martus. They clearly laid out the whole process, gave us prep work and homework to help us best understand what we were learning, and gave us all the recordings of our trainings. Nika, our implementation specialist could answer every question we asked, and helped us learn how Martus could work best for us. Once you are done, they don't leave you out to dry. What do you dislike about Martus?

The one thing we really wish Martus would offer is a full accounting module. We already have our complete chart of accounts set up; if Martus added the functionality to manage our finances directly, right there within Martus—so we wouldn't have to import from another program—that would be amazing. Our finance team used to spend multiple hours every month sending out budget updates after the month closed. If we ran short on time, individual budget spreadsheets would often go several months without being updated. Now, with Martus, I can import a single spreadsheet and everyone receives their budget updates on time each month. The Finance team as well as all department managers now have live Sage Intacct database access to budget data against actual expenses and can run their own reports without requiring Finance team assistance. Since starting with Martus 3 or 4 years ago they added integration with Business Central which was helpful for updating real-time financial information. Added the ability to freeze budget worksheets through a future month at our request in order to more easily do our mid-year budget reforecast. What do you like best about Martus?

I love that Martus is intuitive, has robust onboarding, and provides continued support. The module design is easy to understand, and the flow feels intuitive. The knowledge base is very helpful, with step-by-step instructions and videos, and the help desk is very responsive. Martus also removes the need for challenging front-end formulas, with customizations on the back end, and I can get very detailed budgeting costs for personnel. What do you like best about Martus?

I like the simplicity of the user interface and the ability the workflow and resources associated with our budgeting process. I particularly appreciate the integration of the personnel budgeting. On the occasion when I've needed support the team has been very responsive. I've also found Martus to be very reliable. The integration with our accounting software, Intacct, is very solid. The elimination of manual spreadsheets and the manual rollup to a consolidated budget. The personnel budgeting module has saved me hours ouf work, especially when creating several scenarios for comparison. I honestly can't see a real downside to the Martus Software for our purposes! I don't know about the sophistication of some businesses and whether it can accommodate their needs, but I'm guessing they have a way or are working on a way to meet those needs too! The only issue I had was needing more characters to go back and forth when questioning a ministry areas budget. Allows users to get information immediately without having to ask our accounting department. Helps to eliminate error and streamlines the budgeting process so it is much more efficient in time especially. The uploading directly to our accounting software which is Sage Intacct is so helpful and a great plus as well.
