The account settings make it simple to show each person only what they need to see while preventing access to restricted information. The budgeting tool was easy to learn and included useful features that helped produce more accurate budgets. I was also blown away by our onboarding experience with Martus. They clearly laid out the whole process, gave us prep work and homework to help us best understand what we were learning, and gave us all the recordings of our trainings. Nika, our implementation specialist could answer every question we asked, and helped us learn how Martus could work best for us. Once you are done, they don't leave you out to dry. They are there with follow up trainings and an excellent service team. **What do you dislike about Martus?** The one thing we really wish Martus would offer is a full accounting module. We already have our complete chart of accounts set up; if Martus added the functionality to manage our finances directly, right there within Martus—so we wouldn't have to import from another program—that would be amazing. **What problems is Martus solving and how is that benefiting you?** Our finance team used to spend multiple hours every month sending out budget updates after the month closed. If we ran short on time, individual budget spreadsheets would often go several months without being updated. Now, with Martus, I can import a single spreadsheet and everyone receives their budget updates on time each month. It's integration with Sage Intacct is an invaluable tool for all of our budget managers throughout the organization. Additionally, the Martus support team is a cut above the rest. The response times are almost immediate, and the assistance provided always presents a solution to the issues we face. **What do you dislike about Martus?** I really don't have a downside to Martus. We were able to connect all budget managers quickly and our support representative provides in-depth training to all users on an annual basis. **What problems is Martus solving and how is that benefiting you?** The Finance team as well as all department managers now have live Sage Intacct database access to budget data against actual expenses and can run their own reports without requiring Finance team assistance. Prior to Martus, budgeting was managed using Excel spreadsheets. Oni is always willing to meet with us and figure out an idea that we have. Performance -wise i will say that it updates pretty quickly so we have no issues on waiting for information to be uploaded. I appreciate the balance sheet and cash forecast integrations because i can also use them along with my forecasted budget. The AI is most useful to me when creating reports that way I don't need to build something completely from scratch. Pricing is better than our old system so that's a plus. **What do you dislike about Martus?** Something I dislike about Martus is the dimension levels and how they are displayed. For our organization specifically grouped dimensions would be most helpful. **What problems is Martus solving and how is that benefiting you?** Martus is really helping us bridge the reporting between finance and the programs. Since they have their own logins and have worked on budgets in Martus now, they can go in and review financial information whenever they want. Also having a rolling budget open has really helped us forecast program activity. ### 5. I also appreciate that Martus allows the department and division heads to be more active participants in the forecasting process, giving them a sense of ownership and more buy-in to the overall budget of the school. Additionally, the onboarding process was pretty easy, with a very in-depth approach and lots of informative meetings with a rep, which I got a lot out of. **What do you dislike about Martus?** One thing that I'm still learning to work well within Martus is some of the personnel features. We do not always do a flat increase or a percentage increase as we have employees who are subject to a collective bargaining agreement and therefore receive salary increases via steps. If we were able to embed a multiyear step schedule that we could then tie to each individual and indicate which step the individual is in when we do our budgeting, and have it auto pull from the table, that would be cool. **What problems is Martus solving and how is that benefiting you?** I no longer have to use spreadsheets for budgeting or manually send reports to department heads, as they can log in to view their reports. ### 6. We are a church and I like how it is affordable and still has all of the functionality that we need. We are able to break out multiple ministry areas across 3 campuses and have a budget for each one. The support team has also been amazing in getting it set up and is very responsive. **What do you dislike about Martus?** The only complaint I have is when trying to run another area's budget, and if you go back to the main screen it clears out all prior filters. So if you were looking at the next fiscal year it kicks you back to the current one. If you don't catch it you could be looking at wrong data. **What problems is Martus solving and how is that benefiting you?** We needed our process to be more automated and more easily accessible to all of our areas. Before Martus, everyone would have to come to me to run them reports to see where they stood financially. The most beneficial feature for me is being able to track budget to actual in real time. It allows budget owners to have more responsibility over their budgets and expenses, provides visibility into budget versus actual reviews, and lets us see transactions come in almost in real time. This helps us see where we stand in comparison to our budget throughout the year and track that accordingly. It was also really helpful having our own designated consultant, who was fantastic in helping us get trained and set up in the software. Internally, having one person on our team in charge of learning and teaching Martus worked well for our organization. **What do you dislike about Martus?** I think we're still trying to figure out how to use the Personnel feature in a way that's really helpful. Last year, instead of using the personnel feature, we just did kind of an estimate of salaries and wages costs and just put that amount into Martus as our budgeted number. It just seemed like more work to use the Personnel feature given it was our first year using Martus and we had a time constraint. I would also find it more helpful to be able to leave notes in the Dashboard > Financials reports. When we did Q1 budget vs. actual reviews, I had to export the monthly budget comparison report into Excel, write down all my notes about each variance budget line, and save it outside of Martus.
