Maltego integrates with numerous data sources and APIs, allowing me to aggregate information from various publicly available online sources. It can collect data from social media platforms, websites, public records, DNS information, WHOIS records, and more. This comprehensive data aggregation provides a holistic view of the target and enables me to uncover valuable insights. **What do you dislike about Maltego?** Some of the transforms that Maltego provides might not be available because it hasn't added everything yet. But, in the future, Maltego will advance to add ALL OSINT sources inside to integrate everything and be the center of Threat Intel. Some of the transform also unable to use because of an error due to unable to find the available servers. Example: Stix 2 Utilities. **What problems is Maltego solving and how is that benefiting you?** Maltego streamlines the process of data gathering from multiple sources. It integrates with various online platforms, databases, social media networks, and public records, allowing me to collect information efficiently. This saves my time and effort in manually searching and aggregating data from disparate sources. I don't need to go to every single platform to get the data from them one by one. It is beneficial, I need to do one-time integration, and that is all. ### 2. The ability to show relationships between entities on the internet is what I like best about it. It accomplishes this by mining open sources and publicly available data. This enables me to quickly gather information on individuals or organizations of interest. Maltego is also very user-friendly and can be easily customized to meet my requirements. **What do you dislike about Maltego?** There are a few things I dislike about Maltego. The first is that it can be a bit overwhelming and complex for first-time users. There are a lot of features and it can be hard to know where to start. Additionally, the interface isn't always the most user-friendly. It can be difficult to find the information you're looking for, and the layout isn't always intuitive. Finally, the search function could be better. It's not always easy to find what you're looking for, and the results aren't always accurate. **What problems is Maltego solving and how is that benefiting you?** We utilize Maltego in our organization to summarise subject online footprints, such as which social media platforms they use. We may even link the entire data by highlighting the relevant information, such as which information is associated with each unique entity. It can display 40pages of information into a single page graph with such clarification that everything can be understood even by a beginner. **What do you dislike about Maltego?** With insane amount of entities,it can be quite overwhelming at times to find out what you are looking for.Although its easy to understand to a beginner but is quite troublesome to work upon as a beginner. **What problems is Maltego solving and how is that benefiting you?** Our organisation uses maltego for link analysis to display data of an investigation in a much structured manner. In some cases, its very difficult for a person to provide a 20 pages written report which can confuse clients and maltego serves as a tool with which a single graph can explain the whole report or can help to bring in more clarification to the Analyst. ### 6. Also, working on different charts at once can cause it to slow down. In case it crashed once, there is no way to recover the changes that you made. **Recommendations to others considering Maltego:** Maltego is a powerful tool with the power to take an unprecedented amount of information and mapping it to a chart that can be covered in 1 page. If you had to summarise a 20-page report into one chart, it is highly recommendable **What problems is Maltego solving and how is that benefiting you?** I map out the risk parameters in an investigation that can consist of social media screenings, open adverse media, court records, reviews, or threats, and it might be the absolute necessary software that is used by our company almost every day. ### 7. The abiltity enrich with personal data along with open source so that pivots are better contextualized makes the added difference **What do you dislike about Maltego?** The customizability when it comes to internal data feeds requires a little work in comparison to the ease of data ingestion in other tools. **Recommendations to others considering Maltego:** Graph theory for investigation mindset helps you pivot better. **What problems is Maltego solving and how is that benefiting you?** Large scale data with multiple clusters to be analyzed to find the initial vectors and potential spread of attacks using graphs. The ability to see all network connections from a single process helps an analyst to focus and understand its context to the whole attack. The volume of data is always an issue when it comes to analyzing and the graph system reduces analysis paralysis ### 8. And results are visible on the graph. We can also open CSV files in graph and we can know how they are connected to each other. In this way, Maltego helps in showing the relationship of anything. **What do you dislike about Maltego?** Understanding the relationship on the graph is difficult if the data is enormous. The main drawback of Maltego is its slowness while opening, saving, or exporting vast data. **What problems is Maltego solving and how is that benefiting you?** We can investigate from the domain, Social Media. From domain entities, we can further investigate and get detailed information on domain of your research or target. It can also helps in threat and breach analysis based on ioc and APT. **What do you dislike about Maltego?** Filtering out results from the large database is painful.
