I use Magnetic to track my time on various jobs at my social-first digital agency. Magnetic helps me accurately track time across various clients and multiple projects, which helps me manage my available time throughout the day and week, ensuring I'm not overburning or underspending hours for specific clients. I really enjoy using the start-stop timer for accurately tracking jobs and being able to split my tasks into granular jobs. The stopwatch feature provides precision over assumption or guessing in task tracking. I'm really happy with all the features I use. Sometimes Magnetic's review and approval layers can feel a bit slow and overly structured especially when trying to move quickly or learn through iteration. I like Magnetic because there are multiple different ways to view tasks, and you can modify it to look the way you want. It offers a 'calendar' view and allows me to focus on tasks assigned to me easily. The ability to filter on completed tasks, tasks due soon, or expired tasks is super handy. I can also check on tasks assigned to others, and it keeps track of all previous tasks, making it our source of truth for task information. Initially, it took some time and effort to get used to Magnetic's setup. Like I said, there are multiple ways to view your tasks and it took some getting used to the app and a lot of playing around with it to realize how everything works and how to make the most of it. Magnetic sends a lot of emails. Every time a task is updated, for example, I receive an email. Where it could be useful on the one hand, it happens too often and floods me with emails. I haven't researched whether there is a way to change it so I only receive valuable emails, but the intensity can definitely be lowered with the email sends. I find the reports a bit oversaturated with information, which makes them difficult to read. Also, adding additional line items on a PO in order to split VAT amounts is challenging, and it then doesn’t capture the overall spend against the CE quite correctly.
