There isn't any coding required for standard functionality. My simple customization only needed 2-3 lines of HTML code for formatting on my landing page, but VINYL can run more complex customer code for advanced features. Database and SQL competency are still required, but the system has a great implementation to manage tables and queries. The system structures the SQL code as a user input form. I only used SQL syntax to format query data with standard string manipulation functions. Their self-paced training modules were a great help in understanding the implementation that allows the environment to be no code. The development team members were knowledgeable and capable SMEs that provided robust solutions for us with support when needed. They were also very supportive when we needed guidance for our customer-authored content. I also like that an app can be downloaded on a mobile phone/tablet, or a web browser can be used. **What do you dislike about Jitterbit?** My biggest challenge was separating my solutions while maintaining cross-solution data connections. This challenge is an underlying database structure/functionality issue, so it isn't an issue with VINYL itself. It does affect how solutions are deployed within VINYL. Consideration should be made early in development to tackle standardization and the structure of solutions, ensuring specific data points are available to all solutions. **What problems is Jitterbit solving and how is that benefiting you?** Vinyl helped solve a standardization issue with several work processes. It also allowed those processes to digitize data entry, providing us with historical data and data visualization. Additionally, the platform and app made our solutions accessible to deployed resources (employees working on-site in industrial areas) paired with tablets as part of our managed device configuration. ### 3. Our business rules drive our applications, and our ability to customize a solution for an area enables us to better deliver for the ever-evolving goals of a business unit. **What do you dislike about Jitterbit?** It is all in one, so if we have more than one application on the one instance and there is a need to redo/restart based on the box itself, there is that risk but that can me mitigated with redundancies and the appropriate backups, but that also takes planning. **What problems is Jitterbit solving and how is that benefiting you?** We can support some of our larger business processes in a centralized manner. We drop ship for several customers through CommerceHub and they were able to help us quickly and easily integrate within our Shopify store helping fulfillment, reporting, and inventory management without having to create a whole new tool or dedicating additional resources to this initiative. **What do you dislike about Jitterbit?** It seems their support team could do better at responsiveness and linking with the implementation team. I have been using the product for years at various companies and have yet to find an ETL that makes the integration process as smooth. The point click interface makes the data mapping available to non-developers and there are many built in transformation formulas that will allow you to complete necessary transformations (ex. If incoming data value = x, then 'y', etc). The success and error handling options provide confidence your scheduled operations are running smoothly and help administrators/users troubleshoot and correct errors quickly. We were able to get an integration with our SQL database completed, including testing, within a couple of hours. Their customer service team is responsive and willing to spend time helping you solve issues as needed and the price point is competitive. **What do you dislike about Jitterbit?** The support forum is good but a little chaotic at times to navigate. **What problems is Jitterbit solving and how is that benefiting you?** We are integrating SQL databases housed on Azure with Salesforce.com. ### 16. The documentation needs to be more updated. Trying to find what I need like converting a SQL date and time to Unix. Also, there is no SSO for websites. I have to store 3 different passwords just to gain access to University, community, and harmony. very frustrating. jitterbit is a great tool I just wished it supported the medical side more. LIke FHIR, CCDA's, ADT messages. these have to be built out manually each time. VINYL has several advantages to accomplish this. I can prototype quickly, implementing data schema and user interfaces as I go. I can leverage APIs from external providers, as well as build internally configured ones between VINYL apps. From an efficiency perspective, security through roles and groups is built in, simply requiring some configuration. I've used advanced features when needed to take advantage of custom scanner behavior and other types of peripherals. **What do you dislike about Jitterbit?** I've seen VINYL extend many of its features and its general ease of use over time. One critical improvement would be a mechanism to undo changes or potentially roll back to an established milestone during the development process. **What problems is Jitterbit solving and how is that benefiting you?** I've implemented all manner of solutions with VINYL, including line of business applications involving warehouse management, call centers, shipping, and billing. I've also used VINYL for a single straight-forward function like fulfilment that needed to be available within a week. VINYL's two biggest benefits to me are rapid development and centralization. Larger projects should still establish good planning artifacts, but its really nice to find everything in one place and be able to turn changes around during the course of a review meeting. ### 34. The UI layer is impressive and has many options to build a front end from simple form entries, to complex linked pages and reports. I also don't love that it uses its own language rather than just leveraging an existing common language. it has been supporting javascript more recently however when I was using it, it wasn't fantastic. I'm not a huge fan of suitcase promotions and think something more akin to git would be beneficial **Recommendations to others considering Jitterbit:** Be careful choosing an integration tool that promotes no-code development. An application can progress from an idea to a proof-of-concept in hours - not weeks, or months. The online training is comprehensive, so I was able to quickly ramp-up. There is an active community of app developers who are willing to share their know-how, and a knowledge-base that is a permanent record of questions and answers from the developers. In short, Vinyl is a powerful platform. **What do you dislike about Jitterbit?** In the development work I've done, I don't have a complaint. The platform has worked as expected, the technology is mature, and if I don't know how to achieve something I can get help from the Wiki, or ask a Question on the Forums, or even ask for specific help. The support team has also been easy to work with when I've asked for help at the database server level. My observation is that the capabilities of Vinyl are huge (hello REST APIs, Widgets, Workflow, etc.,), and I don't have time to learn about those capabilities at the moment. **What problems is Jitterbit solving and how is that benefiting you?** I have been building a suite of applications to improve the delivery capabilities of my Consulting Business, and to provide a differentiator between my business and my competitors. Endpoints: Connecting Salesforce to our Grants Management System (Fluxx) was a big win allowing us to leverage real-time enterprise data as the source of truth for provisioning in another system with a shared user base. This also enriches our position to use Okta (which is currently used as our SSO for SF) in a number of ways that we can now explore.
