Itext has been one of oldest and trusted library and they have built a complete ecosystem around pdf documents. **What do you dislike about iText by Apryse?** Even though there is a visual tool but needs enhancements and creation, Adobe tools are much easier to create pdf, and we need some ease for non-tech users to create pdf. **What problems is iText by Apryse solving and how is that benefiting you?** We used Itext to generate pdf reports, statements. ### 2. Our needs are simpler and just around forms. This has made our "simple" life more complicated. **Recommendations to others considering iText by Apryse:** Download the community version and see if it works for you and your needs. There is a lot of documentation on iText's website. **What problems is iText by Apryse solving and how is that benefiting you?** Filling in fillable PDF forms. Reading Digital Signatures. Images on forms. And a very complicated rich text generation on forms. The biggest reason we moved off of 2.1.7-10 was for support of the product. We have used the Java API of iTextPDF and it is very easy to create pdf documents with it. It is very easy to create a custom pdf solution using iTextPDF. If you are a Java developer and looking for library which can help in pdf report/document creation with ease then I would recommend to use iTextPDF. No doubt about that.It's highly recommended. **What do you dislike about iText by Apryse?** As a developer I think that there is a lot of boilerplate code that one needs to write to get going with it and it can be reduced to some extent. There are enough get started examples and tutorials available to get you going with this library. There is enough community support available for your support needs. Customer support is also there if you have questions about licensing anything related to the product. It is highly recommended PDF library for Java and .Net developers. **What problems is iText by Apryse solving and how is that benefiting you?** We were looking for a tool/library which is easy to integrate with Java and have no performance issue as well for our custom pdf report creation. We did a thorough POC and choose iTextPDF over other alternatives as it satisfied and fulfilled the criteria we have set for this analysis. ### 4. The documentation is very handy and much easier to understand and integrate as per your requirement. Some of the best features of iText is: 1. Very compatible with Java language. 2. High end feature like digital signature/e-sign has been included. 3. Minute customization of pdf feature can be done. 4. Well documented and support community for enhancing feature. **What do you dislike about iText by Apryse?** We were trying to upgrade the iText version from 2 to 8 and it was little complicated and some of the features were deprecated and hence needed ample amount of time to re-design the pdf file using iText8.0. Poor background compatibility can be considered as one of the cons. **What problems is iText by Apryse solving and how is that benefiting you?** In order to create a very dynamic and feature rich pdf files using Java language we chose iTextPDF. Its having a lot of very scalable feature which you can customize as per the requirement. We designed the entire Physician documentation application (Healthcare) using iTextPDF. We also used the e-sign feature in our pdf as one of the cutting edge feature.
