I reviewed my options and iDrive seemed like a good solution. Price is reasonable, getting set up was easy, and I like that both of my computers are covered, including files on multiple external back-up drives. I get updates when backups are completed and haven't seen any slow-down. Luckily I haven't needed to retrieve my data because of a crash, but being able to access everything from wherever I am has been very handy and easy. So, I looked for an alternative and found iDrive. I like iDrive as it shows you clearly all your files live in a ‘finder’ like interface like on my MAC, and also it shows thumbnail previews of images so you can see what's what. I find it fast to navigate, and I like the fact that you can back up more than one device, so for example, I can back up 2 computers, one at work and one at home, my phone and a large external NAS. So far, it has worked flawlessly. I run an automatic schedule to back up all of my data nightly, and I have verified the backups, and they work perfectly. Overall, for what it costs, it’s a no-brainer. I didn't want to have to create a special folder or intrusive file redirection. I did agonize about which service to go with and ultimately chose the iDrive subscription. The software installation was very easy and intuative... immediately I set up the backup folders I wanted to include and kicked off a nightly backup. So far so good! I really like the notification popup, log details, and the email notificiation was an added bonus I didn't expect. Again, so far this product has met all of my expectations and I'm discovering more useful settings as I dig deeper. I would recommend this product to friends and family who were on the fence or uncertain with all the choices.
