With the TimeSeries functionality I see significant performance improvements and reduced storage requirements when compare to tradition access/storage methods ### 2. It can be used to build large scale applications with minimal resources. The compilers are great, catching the compilation and run time errors with explanations. The forms and reports builders are handy and convenient for fast growing customers demands. **What do you dislike about IBM Informix?** The product we use lacks the diagnostic tools. In many cases we need to build the own testing procedure to trace the problem with the application. Unfortunately, we are locked in to the 24x80 window, which sometimes require to program additional screens. **Recommendations to others considering IBM Informix:** I recommend using of this product. It is easy, convenient and brings results fast. **What problems is IBM Informix solving and how is that benefiting you?** We use Informix for the total ERP application. Data warehousing, manipulation, full blown reporting. The in house grown system can be quickly customized for any accounting or manufacturing requirements. ### 3. The database servers has only a small footprint, yet is packed full of features and is a very fast OLTP server indeed. **What do you dislike about IBM Informix?** Not as well known as some of the other big name databases. **Recommendations to others considering IBM Informix:** Give Informix a go when considering other databases - you'll be pleasantly surprised! **What problems is IBM Informix solving and how is that benefiting you?** Informix is an excellent OLTP engine, and now with IWA can also solve data warehouse problems too. ### 5. The syntax is mostly compatible with SQLServer, so there isn't a big learning curve for a developer. **What do you dislike about IBM Informix?** It isn't widely used, so it doesn't help your resume very much to say you have Informix experience. **Recommendations to others considering IBM Informix:** Don't let the small user community scare you off.
