IBM made a decision long ago to stop adding features to 4GL. You can get modern versions of 4GL from 4Js (Genero) and Querix (Lycia). Both are proper supersets of the classic Informix 4GL language and Lycia actually supports all of Genero's language extensions as well as supporting its own.
