We almost immediately had access to high quality candidates and were able to hire with a short turnaround. The subscription model works much better for us than the exorbitant fees from your typical recruiter. Would highly recommend. **What do you dislike about Haystack?** My only criticism regarding the platform is there are a few additional features that would help contain the whole process within the Haystack platform, making it all more tidy. One example is that I would like to be able to store notes against a candidate. I don't recall seeing a feature for this. Also, even though messaging is included, I didn't have much success contacting candidates through it and instead used email. Neither of these is remotely a dealbreaker. **What problems is Haystack solving and how is that benefiting you?** Hiring candidates flexibly and in a way that is financially sustainable for a startup. ### 2. They take time to understand what your company is needing from the platform and listen to your feedback to help shape the product. From a Recruitment perspective, we have hired some strong Techies and had a number of good interviews from the platform. It is a very easy to use platform, and the onboarding/implementation was quick and effective. **What do you dislike about Haystack?** Being a smaller company/growing product, it doesn't have all the functionality you desire from day one. But they do listen to feedback from all clients and are continously developing the product to add new capabilities, which will really help the overall recruitment experience. I'm excited to try out their new features. **What problems is Haystack solving and how is that benefiting you?** It is allowing us to access a wider talent pool, especially within the Midlands/North, which other recruitment platforms do not have. Others tend to be very London focused in terms of their talent pool. ### 5. Even if they don't have positions open at the time, they are notified that you're interested in roles their and they can reach out to you if they have something. Job searching is also very slick within their app, making it easy to find roles that suit your preferences. **What do you dislike about Haystack?** I think the only thing I dislike is the separation of company messages from the admin messages, it would be nice if they were in the same place but under different headings or something. **What problems is Haystack solving and how is that benefiting you?** Allows me to find jobs in the industry that are tailored to my specific preferences, allowing for specific languages, role type, remote/hybrid and also things like salary. ### 10. Our initial demo wasn't someone talking us through a script of the features, but instead was someone who had listened to what we wanted and how we worked, and showed us how we would want to use it **What do you dislike about Haystack?** That it's app-only for developers. Makes having long conversations difficult. We're told the Web launch is soon though. **What problems is Haystack solving and how is that benefiting you?** Finding good developers. Anyone can run a jobs board but having the developers looking at the adverts is key. We had a number of good applicants to choose from, and filtering out unsuitable ones was easy. ### 11. However, this is on haystacks tech roadmap. - UX can be a little clunky but again improvements are being made every day **What problems is Haystack solving and how is that benefiting you?** - Attracting candidates away from the traditions of LinkedIn, creating a sole market for businesses and not recruitment agencies - Creating a safe space where techies can view jobs without being hassled or bombarded with job opportunities from both internal and external recruiters - Increasing business' chances of securing candidate by limiting competition ### 12. They were very helpful and even tried to use the platform to find extra candidates outside of those I could already see - above and beyond. **What do you dislike about Haystack?** Rejecting multiple candidates involves having to click through them one by one which is a little bit irritating but other than that I have no real complaints at all. **What problems is Haystack solving and how is that benefiting you?** We needed to recruit some staff and weren't having a huge amount of luck with recruiters. We added Haystack to our toolbelt and got some good CV's and profiles through it. ### 14. It captures candidates who have taken an interest in us from our company profile who may not have been found from other job boards! We have just made our first placement from Haystack & look forward to many more in the future :) The communication from Karl & Harriet so far has been great, we look forward to working more with Harriet from now on. **What do you dislike about Haystack?** I wouldn't necessarily call it a 'dislike' however it would be great to be able to make notes on candidate profiles if you have contacted them. When I registered I delayed logging in cos I didn't have time to create a profile, find images and assests etc as well as write a job advert. I work in Saas myself, so I know what a pain getting people to onboard can be. When I logged in everything was already there: my company logo and description, the job advert. I made the advert live. Since then, they have been in regular contact, checking if anything has changed, assisting with advice. I just got off a call with them discussing who we are recruiting and how many etc. Changes that need to be made to our profile which is what inspired me to write this review **What do you dislike about Haystack?** Apparently, I have to write something here? There could probably be more clarification on what the 'talent pool' is. I believe their product is an excellent market fit and expect to see them thrive over the coming years as organizations and techies alike start to realize the value in such a marketplace. **What problems is Haystack solving and how is that benefiting you?** We have recently received investment that allows us to bring tech resources in-house. With no existing resource, Haystack offers a cost-effective route to potential candidates while removing some of the jargon-busting terminologies for us "muggles"! ### 20. In the highly competitive field of tech recruitment, it provides an alternative avenue to find candidates. Candidates who have signed up are at least passively looking, giving you a warm lead to work with. **What do you dislike about Haystack?** It's difficult to capture this data, but we've made some fantastic hires recently that have not applied through the app, but have been Haystack users. It would also be helpful to redirect candidates to our ATS, so all applicants are in one place. **What problems is Haystack solving and how is that benefiting you?** Utilising Haystack as a marketing tool has allowed us to get our vacancies in front of more candidates and ultimately make more hires. The platform itself is sleek, if simple, and does a lot of work for me when finding and assessing candidates. We've already seen good results and will continue to use Haystack for some time. **What do you dislike about Haystack?** The simplicity of the platform does mean there are not many options when it comes to filtering and sorting applicants. This isn't a significant issue as we do a lot of this ourselves. The platform seems to be actively improving, and the team is very receptive to feedback. **What problems is Haystack solving and how is that benefiting you?** Haystack is by far the best performing job board for technical roles we've used so far. A fresh take on classic 'recruitment' which is welcomed in todays day and age. **What do you dislike about Haystack?** A number of processes within the platform were a little too manual for us, however feedback is taken well and we've already seen a number of improvements whilst we've been a customer. **Recommendations to others considering Haystack:** Highly recommend giving Haystack a go. A good product with a great team behind it. **What problems is Haystack solving and how is that benefiting you?** We're primarily solving issues relating to attracting new talent through existing avenues.
