## GoFundMe Reviews
  ### 1. Goes Stale Fast and Requires Manual Follow-Up

**Rating:** 1.5/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** David B. | Principal, Consulting, Small-Business (50 or fewer emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** April 16, 2026

**What do you like best about GoFundMe?**

It tends to go dead after about 3–4 months. You have to keep coming up with fresh material to keep it alive and maintain momentum.

**What do you dislike about GoFundMe?**

You have to handle all the follow-up yourself—nothing is automated.

**What problems is GoFundMe solving and how is that benefiting you?**

None, I have to fix any problems myself.

  ### 2. Great place to raise money

**Rating:** 4.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Md Shahjalal S. | President, Small-Business (50 or fewer emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** April 18, 2025

**What do you like best about GoFundMe?**

A lot of people know about this platform

**What do you dislike about GoFundMe?**

I wish it did not charge money to non profit

**What problems is GoFundMe solving and how is that benefiting you?**

It makes raising money easy and accessible

  ### 3. Go Fund Me has lousy support and makes it hard to get your money out.

**Rating:** 0.5/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Steve K. | CEO, Mid-Market (51-1000 emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** October 16, 2024

**What do you like best about GoFundMe?**

The ease of use is poor.
The customer support is through a chatbot, so you do not to speak to a human to more quickly resolve your problem. The text function is far too slow.

**What do you dislike about GoFundMe?**

Gettng money out of the system is way to hard.
They just sit on your money making interested

**What problems is GoFundMe solving and how is that benefiting you?**

We are able to broadcast our appeal for funds to improve coverage for the cause.

  ### 4. Retaining funding campaign donations for political and ideological reasons

**Rating:** 0.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Romeu P. | Senior Product Designer, Small-Business (50 or fewer emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** August 29, 2023

**What do you like best about GoFundMe?**

Easy to set up funding campaigns for small organizations.

**What do you dislike about GoFundMe?**

Finding out that my donataion togheter with hundreads of others is being frozen by political reasons.GoFundMe is trying to prevent an independent News platform (The Grayzone) from expanding their staff, and continue to provide independent journalism.

**What problems is GoFundMe solving and how is that benefiting you?**

Would allow me to support independent journalism (if they didn't freeze thefunds).

  ### 5. Not a Good Association with Nonprofits

**Rating:** 1.5/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Amanda C. | Founder and CEO, Small-Business (50 or fewer emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** November 09, 2022

**What do you like best about GoFundMe?**

It is a great resource for nonprofits who are new and do not know what other donation and campaign platforms are available to them. Otherwise, there is nothing else really to be said about it.

**What do you dislike about GoFundMe?**

The association between GoFundMe which is typically for individuals seeking funding for something, and nonprofits is not a positive association. The name GoFundMe Charity doesn't sound very good either. We never received one donation through them with all of our donors preferring to donate through PayPal.

**What problems is GoFundMe solving and how is that benefiting you?**

GoFundMe has now combined their GoFundMe Charity platform with their GoFundMe platform with no clear indicator about the divide between individuals seeking support and nonprofits seeking support

  ### 6. Boooo

**Rating:** 0.5/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Kathy F. | Licensed Practical Nurse, Small-Business (50 or fewer emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** February 05, 2022

**What do you like best about GoFundMe?**

Nothing anymore... I have lost all confidence in this company that chooses to try and silence those they disagree with. I will no longer donate using this platform!

**What do you dislike about GoFundMe?**

I am tired of donating and having gofundme confiscate and redistribute my donations from causes I donate to. Stop stealing from causes that don't fit your narrative or political view!

**Recommendations to others considering GoFundMe:**

Don't use it if you want your donation to reach it's intended recipient.

**What problems is GoFundMe solving and how is that benefiting you?**

None, the problems I'm trying to solve with my donations get bumped at GoFundMe's discretion, not mine.
No benefits exist when a platform chooses to try and silence and stop funds from getting to those I choose to donate to.

  ### 7. They've held $$$ for our animal shelter for 6 weeks now!

**Rating:** 0.5/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Matt B. | President, Small-Business (50 or fewer emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** February 05, 2022

**What do you like best about GoFundMe?**

It was easy to get started at first. Sign up was smooth and the step by step process to create the campaign itself was good. Unfortunately that's not enough to make up for the bad parts though...

**What do you dislike about GoFundMe?**

Their payments policies are obscure, confusing, and arbitrary. They are holding our money, making random refunds, and not paying out funds on time. I will never use these guys again.

**What problems is GoFundMe solving and how is that benefiting you?**

Raising money for the expansion of our animal rehab and visitation program for children with disabilities.

  ### 8. Still great but less useful since GoFundMe Charity closed

**Rating:** 3.5/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Nicholas S. | Laboratory Technician, Small-Business (50 or fewer emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** February 22, 2022

**What do you like best about GoFundMe?**

One of the best things about GoFundMe is simply its name recognition. People are very comfortable giving through GoFundMe because they know the website.

**What do you dislike about GoFundMe?**

Compared to that of my organization's new platform, Givebutter, fees on GoFundMe are rather high.

**What problems is GoFundMe solving and how is that benefiting you?**

Prior to switching platforms, my organization made good use of GoFundMe as means of both receiving donations and tracking donors/fundraisers.

  ### 9. Extremely Disappointed

**Rating:** 0.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Verified User in Consumer Services | Small-Business (50 or fewer emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** February 06, 2022

**What do you like best about GoFundMe?**

Nothing. Shows very poor taste to steal funds from contributors, because of false accusations. I will never use this service again. Crooks.

**What do you dislike about GoFundMe?**

Everything. Will never use this site again. Thieves.

**What problems is GoFundMe solving and how is that benefiting you?**

Nothing. GoFundMe froze funds. So not only are you not solving anything, you're creating more hate and division. You should be ashamed. Disgusting.

  ### 10. Amazing Product for those in Need

**Rating:** 5.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** shelly m. | General Manager, Enterprise (> 1000 emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** August 10, 2021

The ability to reach people form all over the world whether you know them or not

**What do you dislike about GoFundMe?**

Nothing - everything has been amazing and so easy to use

**What problems is GoFundMe solving and how is that benefiting you?**

We were able to raise money for an associate of mine battling cancer. We had a goal of 10k and so far have raised 13k

  ### 11. An easy to use webpage. Donations can make a difference

I donate often. I like to help people.

  ### 12. Poor user experience

**Rating:** 1.5/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Ivan C. | B2B Marketing & Lead Generation Consultant, Small-Business (50 or fewer emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** April 08, 2020

**What do you like best about GoFundMe?**

The type of projects you can find there.

**What do you dislike about GoFundMe?**

Really bad user experience, specially at the moment of pay for your donation. No reply from their support

**What problems is GoFundMe solving and how is that benefiting you?**

Helping others could be a potential solution, but there are a lot of bugs at the moment of paying

  ### 13. Best Way to Crowd Fund Money for Anything

**Rating:** 5.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Verified User in Hospitality | Enterprise (> 1000 emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** January 14, 2019

**What do you like best about GoFundMe?**

What I like about Go Fund Me is that it's FREE crowdfunding, (except 3% they take...? so how is it free..?) but it's for people who can't afford things or for people with huge goals. I have seen it used for anything from parties to bone surgery. First, it connects using your Facebook to log in, which makes it much faster to get logged in without having to worry about passwords. My other most favorite feature is that you have to make a GOAL, which is the amount of money you want to raise, and it also gives you tips, which they call "Expert Advise 24/7". They tell you how it works, give you fundraising ideas, and also give fundraising tips. Their tips include things like make a reasonable goal and share your story. They also have a well known name, and an easy paying process. It's very simple to earn a lot of money using GoFundMe. It also has a lot of options to share it to other social media. It allows photos and videos as well.

**What do you dislike about GoFundMe?**

What I dislike is that it isn't connected to PayPal and that not enough people have heard about it yet. People might be skeptical in putting their Bank information into the website and other personal information, when they only wanted to donate money.

**Recommendations to others considering GoFundMe:**

I would Absolutely recommend this to any individual or team or organization that wants to raise money for anything that they cannot afford themselves. Make sure you have a good story and explain how the money will be used.

**What problems is GoFundMe solving and how is that benefiting you?**

The business problem that I am solving is that now I actually have the funds to carry out projects. I could not afford to do the things I have done with Go Fund Me. I realize the benefit of doing it through a specific platform, especially one designed to be "donations" and not "paying for something". People feel less like they want to give up their money if it's not a donation, plus Go Fund Me really takes your through the steps to have a good campaign

  ### 14. A great way to help raise money and awareness

**Rating:** 4.5/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Travis W. | VP of Investor Solutions, Real Estate, Small-Business (50 or fewer emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** July 05, 2018

**What do you like best about GoFundMe?**

I like that most people understand what a "GoFundMe" is and because of that, GoFundMe carries with it a good reputation and is seen as a credible platform when raising capital.

**What do you dislike about GoFundMe?**

I do not like how competitive the space has become over the past year or so. It is very difficult to get your campaign "seen" in the database with thousands of other campaigns running on top of your post.

**Recommendations to others considering GoFundMe:**

Great for raising small amounts of capital. Not great for large raises (over $5,000)

**What problems is GoFundMe solving and how is that benefiting you?**

GoFundMe helped my company raise several thousand dollars for Puerto Rico's Hurricane Maria tragedy last year and can help you raise small amounts for various causes and/or purposes. Don't expect to gain huge exposure off this platform, it's great up to a point (Say $5,000).

  ### 15. a great tool for helping raise money

**Rating:** 3.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Verified User in Construction | Mid-Market (51-1000 emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** May 01, 2019

**What do you like best about GoFundMe?**

go fund me is great to help get the word out and raise money quickly

**What do you dislike about GoFundMe?**

sometimes they send too many spam e-mails

**Recommendations to others considering GoFundMe:**

great tool for raising funds for charity

**What problems is GoFundMe solving and how is that benefiting you?**

its great when you want to reach the masses with your cause

  ### 16. It all adds up

**Rating:** 4.5/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Lindsey L. | ESL Teacher, E-Learning, Enterprise (> 1000 emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** July 04, 2018

**What do you like best about GoFundMe?**

I really enjoyed the GoFundMe campaign site because it allowed me to share a story, pictures and vision of what I would like the funding for. It was so easy to set up and share the link to family, friends and coworkers. It really reinforces the good people that are out there in the world willing to help! Every penny donated adds up so it's amazing to see dreams coming true.

**What do you dislike about GoFundMe?**

I am not a fan of having peoples names show up with their messages because sometimes I have families feeling guilty for not being able to contribute more than another. It would almost be better if it was all anonymous and if they choose to leave a message they can do so through an inbox feature.

**What problems is GoFundMe solving and how is that benefiting you?**

Go Fund Me has helped solve the budgeting crisis in public schools. Students take the initiative to price out and illustrate a detailed plan of what they would like to fundraise for and how it contributes to their learning when there is no money left in the school budget.

  ### 17. Straight forward, but lacks functionality

**Rating:** 3.5/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Abbie D. | Project Manager, Music, Small-Business (50 or fewer emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** May 07, 2018

**What do you like best about GoFundMe?**

I like that people donating have the option for paying the fee portion of their donation. Another huge plus is that if you don't reach your goal, you get to keep the funds regardless.

**What do you dislike about GoFundMe?**

I dislike that there is not a straightforward easy way to export donor information. That was very frustrating when we tried/fulfilled rewards. I also don't like the design on the website, not the biggest deal, but it's not super professional.

**Recommendations to others considering GoFundMe:**

I would do it – there's no platform that is perfect. After considering all of the options, I went with GoFundMe and have been happy with it. I would recommend that you make sure the pros outweigh the cons for any platform you choose. If you're looking for something super professional though, I would go with Kickstarter.

**What problems is GoFundMe solving and how is that benefiting you?**

Funding issues for artist albums – the benefits are that even when you've met your goal, you can continue to collect money.

  ### 18. GoFundMe is a useful tool to raise money

**Rating:** 5.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Verified User in Non-Profit Organization Management | Small-Business (50 or fewer emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** July 10, 2018

**What do you like best about GoFundMe?**

I like GoFundMe because I can reach multiple people at one time. Instead of sending individual or mass emails for donations, I can create a profile on GoFundMe and anyone who is interested can visit the website can review profile and decide on whether he/she wish to donate. Furthermore, a person feels at peace that their donations via any means is secure and is helping someone who is in need.

**What do you dislike about GoFundMe?**

I do not dislike anything about the website.

**Recommendations to others considering GoFundMe:**

I recommend that anyone who is in need of financial assistance, should use GoFundMe as a means to reach out to individuals. All you have to do is create the profile and tell friends, family, neighbors, etc. where to go and all the information that they need under the profile.

**What problems is GoFundMe solving and how is that benefiting you?**

It benefits me in the way in which I can reach multiple people at one time and not having to send out a mass email.

  ### 19. go fund me is useful

**Rating:** 3.5/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** shawn l. | administrator , Mid-Market (51-1000 emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** May 07, 2018

**What do you like best about GoFundMe?**

I like that gofundme gets used when people are in need of support or money, but only for charitable reasons or when a person uses it for health reasons, family members pertaining to health reason

**What do you dislike about GoFundMe?**

I do not like that this is used for non-important reasons. People that want to purchase a wedding dress will put up a gofundme. I believe it should be used to truly benefit someone or something that matters

**Recommendations to others considering GoFundMe:**

GoFundMe is inexpensive and easy to use. the only thing that can make it difficult is reaching the goal of the funds.

**What problems is GoFundMe solving and how is that benefiting you?**

gofundme helps solve business problems when you are trying to apply for anything, but you need financial support. it is beneficial is many aspects, specifically when raising money for good causes. it would definitely be beneficial to do research and get funding

  ### 20. You can get anything funded through Go Fund Me

**Rating:** 4.5/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Diane S. | Daycare Worker, Small-Business (50 or fewer emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** May 23, 2018

**What do you like best about GoFundMe?**

I like that it is quick and easy to set up an account with Go Fund Me. You can add photos, text (usually explaining what you need funded), and can update at any time.

**What do you dislike about GoFundMe?**

Like all sites like these, they take a fee per donation plus a percentage of what you raise. This is done with all the sites so not really a dislike, just a statement of fact.

**Recommendations to others considering GoFundMe:**

They are the leading fundraising platform out there. I can't think of a single other site that competes with them.

**What problems is GoFundMe solving and how is that benefiting you?**

We used it to raise money for new outside equipment for the kids. It was easy to post a link on Facebook and send out e-mails. People are usually willing to donate to help out their kids.

  ### 21. GoFundMe

**Rating:** 4.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Verified User in Hospital & Health Care | Small-Business (50 or fewer emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** October 06, 2018

**What do you like best about GoFundMe?**

GoFundMe gave me an easy-to-use platform for fundraising. I like that you can personalize your page, add pictures, write messages and updates, and set and change goals.

**What do you dislike about GoFundMe?**

I dislike that the site appears to have limited filtering or censuring, in terms of what content does and does not qualify to use the platform. They could do more to eliminate spam-like content.

**Recommendations to others considering GoFundMe:**

Great platform for personable fundraising. Go for it!

**What problems is GoFundMe solving and how is that benefiting you?**

I was able to raise enough funds to complete a major community service project!

  ### 22. Gofundme: one of the gems of the internet

**Rating:** 4.5/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Verified User in Non-Profit Organization Management | Small-Business (50 or fewer emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** May 07, 2018

**What do you like best about GoFundMe?**

What I like best about GoFundMe is the ability to crowdsource for compassionate causes for individuals, animals, and other causes across the world with an easy to use interface with quick, seamless transactions that also integrate on social media. A lot of social media integration is extremely useful.

**What do you dislike about GoFundMe?**

What I dislike about GoFundMe is that there needs to be an innovative solution to verify claims to weed out the phony or fraudulent crowdsource/fundraising because unfortunately, this happens from time to time and it is quite awful.

**Recommendations to others considering GoFundMe:**

Go Fund Me is an excellent crowdsourcing/fundrasing tool when looking for a scalable, simple tool to reach many people for the right reasons. Also, GoFundMe's social media integration and ease of use is excellent and is extremely useful when leveraging it as best as possible.

**What problems is GoFundMe solving and how is that benefiting you?**

When volunteering for a grassroots environmental organization, we are always looking to raise money through different means, because as a non-profit we need to fund our efforts however we can. GoFundMe has proven to be an effective method to crowdsource/fundraise for events, testing, and other allocations.

  ### 23. Amazing site for E-Fundraising

**Rating:** 5.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Verified User in Higher Education | Small-Business (50 or fewer emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** July 28, 2018

**What do you like best about GoFundMe?**

This site practically runs itself!! Set your financial goal and add a description. Share through social media or email and you’ll be amazed at how quickly your goal is met!

**What do you dislike about GoFundMe?**

I have yet to experience anything with this product that I didn’t like.

**What problems is GoFundMe solving and how is that benefiting you?**

It was difficult to raise funds simply through word of mouth and not everyone could attend fundraiser events. This was an easy way for patrons to donate money

  ### 24. Can be used for good cause

**Rating:** 4.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Verified User in Education Management | Mid-Market (51-1000 emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** May 28, 2018

**What do you like best about GoFundMe?**

GoFundMe is a great program for use when raising money. This truly brings our the best in people. I have seen thousands of donations to causes from across the globe. Gofundme helps people in all situations and allows anyone to donate to any cause, no matter where they are in the world. Overall it is great!

**What do you dislike about GoFundMe?**

There is a percentage of money gofundme takes from donations. This takes away money from the cause and charity.

**What problems is GoFundMe solving and how is that benefiting you?**

allowed our group to raise money to continue to build our program (purchasing supplies, taking students on trips).

  ### 25. Go find me

**Rating:** 4.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Stella G. | Accounting Supervisor, Government Administration, Mid-Market (51-1000 emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** July 31, 2018

**What do you like best about GoFundMe?**

Effective and efficient way to raise funds and awareness of a situation and take action

**What do you dislike about GoFundMe?**

There is no accountability check to determine if the fundraiser is authentic. (Such as obituary, news of a disaster, certified amount of need). Some folks may know the person but others may not know random person/event.

**What problems is GoFundMe solving and how is that benefiting you?**

Raised funds for multiple organizations and people in need

  ### 26. Go Fund Me Review

**Rating:** 4.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Verified User in Broadcast Media | Small-Business (50 or fewer emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** May 07, 2018

**What do you like best about GoFundMe?**

It allows for fundraising and cause awareness in a new approach with creativity and having all thoughts and facts organized. The link to share the fundraising works in many different platforms.

**What do you dislike about GoFundMe?**

I dislike that there aren’t more options of how to and where to share the link to fund. With more options of sharing the information more people from different places could use it to fund people possibly even across the world.

**Recommendations to others considering GoFundMe:**

Add more of a background and more detail for need of fundraising.

**What problems is GoFundMe solving and how is that benefiting you?**

Fundraising became more organized and we can see exactly where funds come from without losing track of money or where it comes from. Give more of a structure to the fundraising and a proper visualization of results.

  ### 27. Watch out for fees

**Rating:** 2.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Verified User in Non-Profit Organization Management | Small-Business (50 or fewer emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** July 05, 2018

**What do you like best about GoFundMe?**

GoFundMe is a simple platform for raising money digitally, and is a convenient way to collect funds for a cause. Additionally, donors are able to browse the site for causes that match their interests.

**What do you dislike about GoFundMe?**

The platform targets organizations and individuals who are in need, but takes a fairly large cut of donations (almost 8%)

**What problems is GoFundMe solving and how is that benefiting you?**

It provides a simple and convenient way to reach large audiences for fundraising efforts. The platform allows for multiple forms of online payment.

  ### 28. GoFundMe Review

**Rating:** 5.0/5.0 stars

**What do you dislike about GoFundMe?**

Was initially difficult to set up but was eventually able to work out my issues.

**Recommendations to others considering GoFundMe:**

**What problems is GoFundMe solving and how is that benefiting you?**

I have used GoFundMe to raise money for the Huntsman Cancer Institute.

  ### 30. Amazing crowd funding site

**Rating:** 4.5/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Verified User in Non-Profit Organization Management | Small-Business (50 or fewer emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** October 27, 2017

**What do you like best about GoFundMe?**

I love that they do not charge a 5% platform fee! Also, the set up process is very easy. It is a simple step by step process. It is also linked to facebook so it is easy to share on social media.

**What do you dislike about GoFundMe?**

That it has two names associated with it. It can be confusing as I had people ask me if it is giveforward or youcaring. I am not sure why there are two different names. Maybe there is a legitimate reason but I don't know of it. So when we were trying to spread the word to raise funding and I was telling people to go to giveforward (when spreading by word of mouth) some people were saying to go to youcaring. So there was mixed messaged being spread.

**Recommendations to others considering GoFundMe:**

I would choose GiveForward before any other crowd fundraising. I love that there is not a platform fee. I am also spreading the word about GiveForward to churches to help them raise funds for different missionaries or local community needs. It creates a simple way of spreading the word about the need.

**What problems is GoFundMe solving and how is that benefiting you?**

I was able to help raise funds for a local family whose business burned down in a fire. It was amazing to be able to give and spread the word very easily on social media.

Outdated website, bad User Interface and graphics.

**Recommendations to others considering GoFundMe:**

Since acquisition the website now redirects to YouCaring.com.

**What problems is GoFundMe solving and how is that benefiting you?**

Allowed for affordable/low cost (very low processing fees) fundraising to help people in genuine need - medical expenses, funeral/memorial costs, missions trips etc.

**Rating:** 2.5/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Verified User in Non-Profit Organization Management | Small-Business (50 or fewer emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** December 12, 2017

**What do you like best about GoFundMe?**

It is good if you are fundraising a large amount of cash.

**What do you dislike about GoFundMe?**

This platform does not come for free. It will charge users a 5% fee in order to create and showcase a campaign to raise funds. It also has a processing fee of 2.9%, as well as $0.50 per transaction. So, though you're raising money, you're also getting charged.

**Recommendations to others considering GoFundMe:**

If you're in a larger organization, it might be useful to use. Otherwise, you might have difficulty getting behind it.

**What problems is GoFundMe solving and how is that benefiting you?**

Currently, none, but it is apparently very good for raising money for medical issues.
