"Effortless Project Documentation with Smooth Deployments and Helpful Support"
What do you like best about GitBook?

It’s so easy to document all of your project work. You also don’t need to worry about syncing with GitHub—your progress is always safe. The support team is very helpful, and deploying the site is smooth as well. The AI tasks are really useful for formatting and designing your documents. The price is affordable, too. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

What do you dislike about GitBook?

While GitBook is a powerhouse for documentation, it isn’t without its share of frustrations. A major drawback is the pricing structure, which can feel steep for small teams or individual creators, especially when you compare it with free, open-source alternatives.

Another pain point is the shift away from a markdown-centric workflow toward a more proprietary, block-based editor. That change has alienated some developers who prefer full control over their source files and a more transparent editing process. On top of that, GitHub-to-GitBook synchronization can be finicky at times, resulting in merge conflicts or formatting discrepancies that end up requiring manual cleanup. Finally, if you need deep UI customization, the current theming limitations can feel restrictive. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

"Gitbook is the best place to make your website!"
What do you like best about GitBook?

I could upload a website completely free. Setting up and editing the website is extremely easy and intuitive, and best of all, I received very fast and helpful response by the team.

Natasza was so eager to help. She's the best! Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

What do you dislike about GitBook?

Its a little bit unclear and messy right now when it comes to their plans. It seems like you have to ask for permission for the community plan, which is simply what Gitbooks would claim is for free anyways. I'm not sure why they need you to make a formal request for something like this, but the team answered me really fast and approved my application to the community plan so it wasn't really a big problem. What do you dislike about GitBook?

There’s not much to dislike, but maybe more advanced formatting options would make it even better. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

we love how clean and organized GitBook feels. It helps us create and manage our SOPs, client processes, and team guides all in one place. It really cuts down on time wasted searching for scattered docs. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

"Clean and organized documentation for my teams!"
What do you like best about GitBook?

I enjoy the built-in page organization structure and the rich searching features that highlight specific pages and headers where search terms appear. My teams frequently need to reference our SOPs to accurately complete our work, so it is very helpful to be able to rely on more consistent searchability compared to disorganized storage in Google Docs. Additionally, the customer service and support has been quick, responsive, and helpful. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

What do you dislike about GitBook?

For teams that primarily or exclusively use the web editor as opposed to local repositories synced with GitHub, I would like more documentation and features for creating a backup of my documentation that's cleaner than downloading all of the docs as PDFs. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

The intuitive interface, accessibility, ease of use, versioning, rich content formats Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

What do you dislike about GitBook?

It would be great if we could select "Apply header to all pages" so that we have one common banner in all pages especially when we need to update it. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

Very easy to use and focuses on creating documentation. Easy for users to review the documentation. It also syncs with a number of different services. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

What do you dislike about GitBook?

For me, GitBook works very well. I think the organization -> docs structure is a bit odd, but it isn't a big deal. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

"GitBook is an amazing tool for us and our students at Polytechnique Montréal."
What do you like best about GitBook?

Ease of use, ease of implementation. I use it every day as a teacher and share labs with my students through GitBook, and they love it much more than receiving lab tutorials as Word documents. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

What do you dislike about GitBook?

I think that when you set up your organization, the wizard should show you the kind of default URL it will generate, so you can get an idea of how your subdomain will look. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.
