I have years of history with my Stripe account. The only reason was probably I could figure out is so that they could offer loans through Loan End. I contact Customer Support and they weren't helpful as they usually are. Did they sell the company? You can pick it right up and just go whenever. As a start up and a milti-disciplined artist, much of my business has been part time so I have been in and out but Freshbooks has always been here and had my data ready, which supported small my business before and after the pandemic. It's flexible and pleasant to log into and so so useful! My favorite features are the timer and the expenses in the project menu. I love how all the features work together to save so much time, make things easy for my clients and it has been the service with the most of what I do need and very little of what I don't. The platform doesn't look stale and boring. It's really an enviting app to log into and it feels very comfortable to use. Customer service is extremely responsive as well. **What do you dislike about FreshBooks?** I recently needed a fix for something that was very frustrating and something that I feel is a bit serious. My business relies on the safety of ACH. Clients don't often feel comfortable pulling out credit cards and fees can be high for service work. It had not been a problem before but it took a week for an ACH payment to clear via Stripe. Freshbooks has a feature to prevent clients from placing multiple payments and getting confused. But that feature also locks any invoice that uses deposits until it clears. The client will not be able to pay the rest of that first invoice. As an artist, deposits are often paid immediately as work is starting. My clients often need things last minute. There is rarely a scenario where I have a week for a payment to clear. This means the deposit feature ends up being pretty useless. But it's also the smoothest way to request a deposit. And the only way that doesn't mess with accounting numbers. Instead, I have to get around this using other features and manually recpord the deposit. And it can take a bit of figuring out if you're new to the platform. However, it's a big positive that this is possible as well because Freshbooks is so flexible. **What problems is FreshBooks solving and how is that benefiting you?** Everything financial is solved with Freshbooks besides the actual banking. Some of the integrations haven't been as useful like Squarespace and I can't remember if there was an option for Etsy but it hasn't killed the usability of Freshbooks itself. Freshbooks seems to keep a close relationship with its customers to continue improving features. ### 9. They either have the answer at their fingertips, teach me how to do something, or if they don't have the answer, they find someone who can do it in the shortest time possible. I love the ability to quickly generate invoices from time tracking logs. I also like the fact that I am able to connect my bank accounts and credit cards so that I can balance the books all in one place. **What do you dislike about FreshBooks?** There is occasional glitchiness with the software. I've specifically noticed this with the time tracking in the app, and importing expenses from my banks. I can usually work around the issues, but it can be a little annoying at times. My biggest issue has been the customer service experience. I needed to add an additional team member and Freshbooks would not allow me to do this online without an account manager. I never dealt with an account manager when I initially bought the software, so this alone was frustrating to have to reach out to a black box to get help. I didn't receive a response for multiple days and when I finally did the account manager was rude and unhelpful. It took a week of me begging for this change to be made and I only got short responses that gave me no details on what was going on. It took me reaching out to 3 other channels to finally get a response and the seat added. I understand that there are bugs and issues in any software, but the least they could do is apologize for it taking longer than expected and let me know that they are still working on resolving it instead of leaving me in the dark. I don't feel like they valued my time, business, or money. I think there is better software out there and almost any other company would offer better support. If I hadn't prepaid for a year I would have already switched, but I certainly will not be continuing after my subscription expires. **What problems is FreshBooks solving and how is that benefiting you?** FreshBooks allows me to track time spent working on multiple projects and easily invoice for that time. Matching bank and Square feeds to expenses and payments is super easy, making my work a lot quicker. I also love that I can easily bring back deleted or archived transactions with just one click. Another plus is the ability to upload CSV files easily, which made the integration set-up pretty quick.The report options are great, and the overall navigation is really smooth. The only hiccup is handling split transactions like loans and payroll, which you have to do through Journal Entries. The way it works is so entirely different from the Intuit products, it took me a few months to become comfortable with how to find things. But Justin in Accountant Support is a real gem and makes everything so much easier. I have to be on the big competitor's product daily, but would much rather be on FreshBooks daily because it's so much more pleasant to work in. I look forward to helping more clients on FreshBooks! **What do you dislike about FreshBooks?** One downside is the limitation of handling split transactions such as loan/liability payments, asset purchases, payroll, etc, which you have to do through Journal Entries. I also would love to see Gusto payroll integrated even when it's not purchased through FreshBooks. Another negative is the inability to send customer account statements as PDFs to clients directly from within the system. People who run their businesses all day and have to do accounting chores at night before they go to sleep. Invoicing and auto-payments are a lifesaver. I run a recurring business. I don't even have to worry about monthly invoices anymore. Have a problem? A real human will answer support tickets quickly. Every support interaction I have had was fantastic. Making implementation easy. Quick support makes it a breeze to get started and quickly up and running my business. These are incredibly important things to consider as your accounting software is something you'll use every single day. **What do you dislike about FreshBooks?** Nothing is cheap anymore. Freshbooks is not a Cheap service, especially if you need a few extra hands on the software to track time, etc. I only need employees for Time tracking. It is about 3x more per employee than I would pay at an alternative time tracking-only application. I am begrudgingly willing to pay a little $ extra per month to avoid maintaining an integration. If I were to hire more employees. It might justify the cost of alternative time tracking. **What problems is FreshBooks solving and how is that benefiting you?** Freshbooks gives me one single touchpoint for client billing. They keep things simple. Easy to use. I was originally with Freshbooks years ago. My business grew to the point of needing more employees. I thought it was the best use of my money at that time to hire an accountant. My accountant requested that I switch to another big brand "books" company. I quickly found out that those books were not quick at all. The amount of process and duplicate entries required forced me to become increasingly reliant on my accountant. As my business grew, my accountant's hourly charges started to add up. After years of doing it the "quick" way. I had to take a Fresh approach and come back to Freshbooks. They have partnered with a professional accounting firm. The quality of work I get from Freshbooks combined with the other company is higher. The total cost to my business is predictable and manageable. No longer do I have massive fluctuations in monthly costs associated with hourly accounting. ### 34. I had to get used to that after using QuickBooks.
