I use FileWave to manage our mobile and desktop devices in one platform. It makes software deployment simple and straightforward, lets us gather inventory reports, and enforces OS updates based on policies tailored to our organization. I like that FileWave is dynamic and can be configured around an organization’s structure and needs, and that I have complete control over the file system on the devices we manage. It gives IT departments with just one or two people the ability to manage hundreds or even thousands of devices. FileWave complements our existing AD group policies, and otherwise it runs the show. Setup was incredibly easy, especially because we chose the hosted version, where the FileWave Ops team hosts, updates, and backs up the server. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.
My main concern is that the FileWave Agent (for Windows devices) depends on the Microsoft Visual C++ Redistributable. When this package gets corrupted, which has been happening more often lately--typically after a Windows update--FileWave cannot function until the package is repaired. This is not ideal, because the Repair action requires Administrator credentials (all of our employees operate using standard user accounts). Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.
