Estimators upload a PDF drawing set, and Ferra detects beams, columns, joists, braces, and trusses across the full set, reads column properties from the column schedule, including sections that change by height and below-grade footing depth, and produces a takeoff with quantities, lengths, and tonnage. Other capabilities include assigning and bulk-editing physical connection types (shear tab, single and double angle, moment, gusset, end plate, seated, knife, saddle) and reading the shear, moment, and axial design forces the engineer specified on the drawings; side-by-side comparison of revisions and addendums, with the estimator confirming each change so quantities are not double-counted into tonnage; bid intelligence that produces a go/no-go read with risk scoring, each claim linked back to its source page; 3D model generation from the 2D set; and markup, measure, and sheet-stitching tools. Takeoffs export to Tekla PowerFab, Tekla Structures, IFC, Revit, CSV, PDF, and Bluebeam markups. Ferra covers takeoff and estimating only. It does not design connections or calculate reactions, and does not perform detailing, shop management, or ERP functions. This reviewer was not provided any incentive by G2 for completing this review. **Reviewed Date:** August 14, 2026 **What do you like best about Ferra?** I like that if give you a visual reference based on the plans so you can double check how material will fit together and get a better idea of what is to be fabricated in the shop and in the field. **What do you dislike about Ferra?** It is still glitchy at times and the columns still need some work or i need some more training. **What problems is Ferra solving and how is that benefiting you?** It takes the role of the Junior Estimator.
