## Fathom Reviews
  ### 1. Effortless Reporting with Stunning Clarity

**Rating:** 5.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Kara T. | Expert Bookkeeper, Small-Business (50 or fewer emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** July 11, 2026

**What do you like best about Fathom?**

I use Fathom for reporting, forecasting, and analysis for my clients. It makes it easy to create beautiful, nicely structured reports, offering a great balance of structure and flexibility. I really like how easy it is to create a gorgeous, crystal-clear presentation of all the financial information I need. Even though there's a bit of a learning curve, it's pretty intuitive, and the documentation is solid. The little info buttons that offer details when you hover over them make learning by exploring easy. The initial setup of Fathom was very easy and painless.

**What do you dislike about Fathom?**

There is a bit of a learning curve, but honestly, it is pretty intuitive and the documentation is solid. I would love integrations with other apps as well, maybe Shopify.

**What problems is Fathom solving and how is that benefiting you?**

I use Fathom for reporting, forecasting, and analysis. It makes it easy to create beautiful, nicely structured reports with a great balance of structure and flexibility, offering a crystal-clear presentation of financial information.

  ### 2. Easy QuickBooks Integration with Exceptional Reporting and KPI Tracking

**Rating:** 5.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Nancy L. | CFO, Mid-Market (51-1000 emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** June 12, 2026

**What do you like best about Fathom?**

The integration with Quickbooks is very easy to set up and maintain. Fathom has exceptional financial reporting capabilities. We also use it for tracking financial and non-financial KPIs.

**What do you dislike about Fathom?**

It can be a bit difficult to navigate at first, and it isn’t as intuitive as some other software I’ve used. Once I got familiar with where everything is, though, I haven’t had any issues.

**What problems is Fathom solving and how is that benefiting you?**

The biggest issue it solved for us was high-level financial reporting. All of our Board of Director reporting lives in Fathom, and it’s easy to maintain and keep up to date.
We have had comments from board members about how great our reporting is. They have a hard time believing we use QuickBooks with the reporting we give them from Fathom-QuickBooks integration.

  ### 3. Powerful Forecasting, But Pricey Investment

**Rating:** 5.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Earline S. | Small-Business (50 or fewer emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** July 05, 2026

**What do you like best about Fathom?**

I find Fathom's powerful forecasting module incredibly valuable. It really helps in transforming complex financial data into highly visual and actionable client insights, which is essential for my work. I also appreciate how the platform maps out future cash runway, allowing me to easily incorporate specific business events, like planned equipment purchases or new hires, directly onto a visual timeline. This aspect is incredibly impactful for my planning processes.

**What do you dislike about Fathom?**

On the downside, Fathom is definitely an expensive software investment. And the licensing fees can feel quite steep, especially when you are trying to scale it across a large diverse client or portfolio with varying budgets.

**What problems is Fathom solving and how is that benefiting you?**

Fathom solves the massive bottleneck of manual cash flow forecasting with a powerful forecasting module. It turns complex financial data into visual, actionable insights, mapping out future cash events like purchases or hires on a timeline, making client advisory sessions impactful.

  ### 4. Powerful Assumptions and Sub-Department KPI Tracking Made Easy

**Rating:** 4.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Amy F. | Strategic Development Manager, Mid-Market (51-1000 emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** May 20, 2026

**What do you like best about Fathom?**

I really love the range of assumptions on the profit and loss statement, and how easy it is to refer to your assumptions. I also really like the ability to write KPIs on a sub-department level, which is good for department managers.

**What do you dislike about Fathom?**

I don't understand where and when to use Driver's and I don't like the balance sheet budgeting. I find the journals and schedules frustrating for existing loans that are partially through payment. And I don't like that there aren't good options for projecting inventory by subdepartment.

**What problems is Fathom solving and how is that benefiting you?**

As soon as I master the balance sheet projecting, I love that I will be able to have a reliable cash flow projection that changes as I forecast an operational improvement plan in my P&L. That's really powerful for management.

  ### 5. Seamless Meeting Summaries and Action Items—Accurate Notes Without the Effort

**Rating:** 5.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Nicholas L. | Account Executove, Mid-Market (51-1000 emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** March 19, 2026

**What do you like best about Fathom?**

What I like most about Fathom is how seamlessly it captures and summarizes meetings without needing any manual effort. It takes really accurate notes, highlights key moments, and automatically creates action items, which saves a ton of time after calls. I also like how it integrates well with tools like Zoom and makes it easy to share clips or summaries with the team.

**What do you dislike about Fathom?**

One downside is that the summaries can occasionally miss context or require slight edits, especially for more complex or technical discussions. Also, depending on the call quality or accents, the transcription might not always be 100% accurate. It’s not a dealbreaker, but you still need to quickly review before sharing externally.

**What problems is Fathom solving and how is that benefiting you?**

Before using Fathom, a big challenge was trying to stay engaged in meetings while also taking notes and making sure nothing important was missed. It was easy to lose key details or spend extra time after calls writing summaries and follow-ups.

Fathom solves that by automatically recording, transcribing, and summarizing meetings. It lets you focus fully on the conversation instead of multitasking. After the call, you instantly have a clear summary with key points and action items, which saves a lot of time.

It’s especially helpful for sharing insights with the team—whether it’s handing off a deal, looping in someone who missed the call, or quickly reviewing what was discussed. Overall, it makes meetings more productive and removes a lot of manual work.

  ### 6. Powerful Forecasting, Needs Better Budgeting Scenarios

**Rating:** 5.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Pieter B. | Small-Business (50 or fewer emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** May 28, 2026

**What do you like best about Fathom?**

I find Fathom quite valuable for building long-term cash flows and preparing reports for the Financial Conduct Authority in the UK. It's great for creating a three-year monthly plan. I appreciate that it lets me import data and quickly spot trends over time, which helps identify weaknesses and areas that need development. Once I got the hang of it, it's pretty quick to use. I really like the graphics, which allow me to set up my own colors and branding. Pictures tell a thousand words, and Fathom captures that perfectly.

**What do you dislike about Fathom?**

Sometimes the budgeting isn't straightforward, especially creating scenarios for adding extra employees and associated costs. That doesn't work particularly well for me, and I struggle with it. Also, the initial setup was painful because it involves quite a bit of learning, but it improves with usage over time.

**What problems is Fathom solving and how is that benefiting you?**

I use Fathom to import data and quickly see trends, identify weaknesses, and prepare for financial conduct authority reporting. It helps me build long-term cash flows and forecasts efficiently.

  ### 7. Simple Xero Integration, Dynamic Dashboards, and Responsive Support

**Rating:** 5.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Verified User in Computer Software | Mid-Market (51-1000 emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** May 27, 2026

**What do you like best about Fathom?**

Simple, straightforward integration with Xero actuals. The interface is user-friendly and includes features that support strong forecasting and reporting. The dashboards and templates are dynamic, with plenty of options to customise depending on the use case. Webchat support is consistently responsive and helpful. We moved from CastAway to FATHOM for a fraction of the price and haven’t looked back.

**What do you dislike about Fathom?**

Linear regression calculations have proven virtually useless for us when forecasting; however, there are enough alternative options available without it.

The report charts offer decent options, with some limitations (for example, stacked bars aren’t possible in a combined chart with line graphs). More control when formatting reports would also be welcome. In addition, custom periods in report charts feel inconsistent. For instance, selecting “2 prior periods” includes the current period in some charts, while in others “2 prior periods” are shown in addition to the current period.

Some UI features also aren’t consistent across the tool. For example, grab handles appear in the Chart of Accounts but not in the Microforecast expanded view, even though click-and-drag reordering is possible in both places.

**What problems is Fathom solving and how is that benefiting you?**

FATHOM has fast-tracked our reporting, including end-of-month reporting, rolling forecasting, covenant reports, budgeting, and KPI analysis. It also does a lot of the heavy lifting during the budget process. Overall, it has saved considerable time and enabled the finance department to scale alongside business growth without adding extra cost. On top of that, it has significantly improved the quality of the information we share with our report users.

  ### 8. Makes Financial Reporting Simple with Clear Dashboards and Helpful Integrations

**Rating:** 4.5/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Verified User in Professional Training & Coaching | Mid-Market (51-1000 emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** May 20, 2026

**What do you like best about Fathom?**

what I find most helpful is how it makes financial reporting much easier and more organized. The reports & dashboards are simple & easy to understand. It's easy to review KPIs, trends & business performance. Onething I really like is that even clients who are not finance focus can easily understand the reports. It also helps our coaches to have smoother & productive conversations w/ them. The acct software integrations are very helpful too. While there can sometimes be sync issues, fathom makes it easy to identify and fix problems between the acct software & the fathom numbers. Another thing is I appreciate your customer support team, they are responsive & easy to work with whenever I have questions or needing assistance.

**What do you dislike about Fathom?**

One area that could be improved is reducing the amount of manual work needed for some tasks. For example, when the COA changes in the acct software, it does not automatically update in Fathom so we still need to update it manually. AR/AP data also doesn't update automatically yet.Another limitation is that Fathom only pulls the COA from the acct software so custom P&L layouts cannot be imported directly. I also can't export reports in bulk across all companies.

**What problems is Fathom solving and how is that benefiting you?**

Before Fathom, we've been using a very old program. It requires a lot of manual work. We had to request monthly P&Ls from our clients. With Fathom, reporting became much faster because it is automated, time saver! We can now quickly review our clients financial performance in one place and it syncs daily w/ their acct software. Onboarding & monitoring multiple client accounts is easier because we can easily identify sync issues or unusual financial movements

  ### 9. Effortless Financial Presentations with Fathom

**Rating:** 4.5/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Michael H. | Small-Business (50 or fewer emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** May 14, 2026

**What do you like best about Fathom?**

I like how well Fathom presents financial data in very different formats depending on which audience I'm presenting to. As an outsourced CFO, I find it particularly valuable as many of my clients are visually led, and presenting financial data in graph or visual formats helps them understand what's happening in their business more easily. It's also more malleable than Xero on its own, allowing me to present data in more easily readable formats for my clients.

**What do you dislike about Fathom?**

It could be more customisable. For example, I'm not able to run a rolling twelve month profit and loss report as a single column, which would be useful for my clients so we can review rolling 12m to date vs prior year.

**What problems is Fathom solving and how is that benefiting you?**

I use Fathom to present data in easily readable formats for clients. It's more flexible than Xero, allowing me to tailor financial data presentations in visual formats, making it easier for visually oriented clients to understand their business.

  ### 10. Effortless Financial Reporting, Needs Multi-Entity Support

**Rating:** 5.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Judy Anne M. | Mid-Market (51-1000 emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** July 02, 2026

**What do you like best about Fathom?**

I use Fathom for our monthly and annual financial reports, and it solves the problem of relying on Excel by automatically providing the reports I need. I find it easy to use, and I can easily play with reports and add visuals. These features allow us to present reports to management who may not understand complicated financial documents easily.

**What do you dislike about Fathom?**

Availability of some features that involve multiple entities. Budgets, for example, we could not generate the budget for the next financial year reflecting budget figures per entity in a consolidated report.

**What problems is Fathom solving and how is that benefiting you?**

Fathom replaces Excel for financial reporting, providing the needed reports automatically. It's easy to use, allows for report customization, and adds visuals, making it simpler to present to management not adept with complex financial data.
