## About devlin.ai
devlin.ai is an AI-powered simulation builder for practicing conversational skills. Instructional designers describe a scenario, and the AI generates a complete simulation with characters and evaluation criteria, no coding or branching logic required. Learners practice through natural dialogue, by voice or chat, and get real-time AI evaluation and personalized feedback. Simulations can go anywhere training lives: embedded in Articulate Storyline and Rise 360, exported as SCORM or xAPI for any LMS, or shared as standalone links, with scores and completion status syncing back to the course. Ground simulations in your own reference content, and track performance with workspace analytics, conversation transcripts, automated evaluations, and Power BI export. Teams use devlin.ai for customer service, sales, healthcare communication, coaching, compliance, and onboarding. Enterprise features include SOC 2 compliance, SAML single sign-on, team workspaces, and custom domains.

**What do you like best about devlin.ai?**

I build scenario-based learning, and the part that always slowed me down wasn't the design-- it was everything after it. Branching logic, variable wrangling, and anything conversational meant either heavy Storyline plumbing or a developer.

With devlin.ai I built an adoption simulation where the learner talks to an AI coach character that actually responds to what they say, not to a preset menu of three options. That used to be a custom-dev conversation. Here it was part of the build.

The other thing I didn't expect to care about as much as I do: publishing and hosting are in the same loop. My portfolio piece went from build to live URL without a handoff, and revisions land in the same session instead of the next sprint. When you're shipping work to be seen, that compression is the whole game.

**What do you dislike about devlin.ai?**

Neither is a dealbreaker -- Two small edges, both in the deploy path rather than the building:

The uploader rejects the entire bundle if a stray file type it doesn't expect is in the zip -- a leftover .md in my case -- but the error tells you which file caused it. I didnt lost much time hunting for that.

Deployed URLs carry version fragments that look like you can reach an earlier build, but they return the current one. So keep your own snapshot before you deploy; don't assume you can roll back from the live URL.

**What problems is devlin.ai solving and how is that benefiting you?**

It closes the gap between designing a scenario and having a working one.

Concretely: I've shipped two portfolio projects with it this year: a post-adoption simulation for first-time dog adopters, and an interactive piece on how food-label claims mislead shoppers while job searching. Neither would have existed on that timeline if the interactive layer had required a developer. For an instructional designer who needs live, clickable proof of work rather than screenshots of slides, that's the difference between having a portfolio and describing one.
