Descript isn’t intuitive, and the transcription is terrible. Audio Fix makes everything sound worse, and Studio Sound makes the audio unintelligible. I’ve lost four editors who don’t want to work on Descript, even though I’m paying for an extra editor seat. I always have to take my projects out of Descript, use Premiere or iMovie, and then put them back in. We all went back to Premiere, and I wish I hadn’t paid for a year. Descript has abysmal UX with bizarre choices for video editing. You will be lost in menus for hours trying to do the most basic things, like adding two clips together and exporting, or simply applying a background. Much older tools are in fact far more intuitive, i.e. iMovie. It's an incredibly frustrating user experience. I would suggest their team find a new user and watch them try to figure out the platform to see just how painstaking it is. It would only take ONE example to realize the dozens of gaps. What I like best about Descript is that it is very easy to use and I was able to start without any technical knowledge. The best part for me is the transcript feature, it converts whatever I speak in video into text and the accuracy is quite good. I can edit my video just by editing the text, which really saves time in my daily work.

In my routine I handle diet guidance, manage a homeopathy clinic and also create health education content, so I make videos for teaching and patient explanation. I use it regularly. Features like automatic transcription, subtitles, filler word removal and basic audio clean up are very helpful for me. It makes my videos more clear and easy to understand for patients and students.

Setup was simple and I did not face any issue while starting. It fits well with my workflow, I can import my recorded videos and edit without any problem. Number of features are enough for my type of work, not too complex.

when I work on longer videos with full transcript, sometimes it takes a little time to scroll and find the exact line I want to edit. It does not stop the work, but editing can feel slightly slow at that moment. Also sometimes I need to correct a few words in transcript manually, especially for medical or diet terms. The performance and resource usage can be a real headache. It’s a notorious CPU hog, so if you don't have a beefy computer, you might hear your fans spinning like a jet engine.

I really like Descript's interface; it's easy to use, especially since I'm not very techie with editing software. It's like Canva – an all-in-one tool that's easy to use for editing. I appreciate the specific editing tool or AI that helps keep focus on the camera, which is very helpful for me as a VA and in making introduction videos look more professional. The tool's ability to show full captions without uploading and transcribe specifically provides valuable insights. I found Descript really didn't solve any video editing problems as promised. The text-based video editing feature was disappointing because when I removed a word, the video would cut several words before and after, making it unusable. The core promises of the software were not fulfilled, and my investment felt wasted. Additionally, attempting to use the AI feature for generating blogs was frustrating since the generated content disappeared and couldn't be found later. What I like most about Descript is that it makes editing so easy. I mean, the text editing is a game changer. It uses a lot of credits, and I’m still not sure how tokens/credits are being counted here. Is it based on the instructions, the word limit, the processing of those instructions, or something else? I honestly don’t know. Sometimes it also messes with earlier instructions, which makes it feel like it doesn’t have a memory-saving feature to refer back to past conversations.
