If they don’t, you still end up relying on manual monitoring, which means you’re only partially meeting the goal. That’s what I dislike about this. If there were another option to set the drivers up directly, it would be perfect. **What problems is Descartes MacroPoint solving and how is that benefiting you?** The main is that MacroPoint basically fixes the problem of not having real-time visibility when tracking loads. Instead of depending on constant check calls or manual updates, it gives you automatic GPS tracking. For me, it saves a lot of time, cuts down on follow-ups, and lets me focus more on exceptions instead of chasing every single shipment. It also makes it easier to keep customers updated with accurate info and more reliable ETAs. ### 2. The newer Control Tower 2.0 interface is much more user-friendly, organized, and efficient than previous versions. It really helps us track the trucks and see the unit's location so we can take action if there's a deviation from the planned route. Additionally, setting it up didn't take much time, and uploading for anyone is really easy. **What do you dislike about Descartes MacroPoint?** The updates maybe? I mean, some clients would like to get updates, like, more frequently. So sometimes, like, the lapses of time maybe ten minutes or one hour, for some people is too long. So maybe having, like, small errors, gaps of time. **What problems is Descartes MacroPoint solving and how is that benefiting you?** Descartes MacroPoint solves communication issues with carriers, providing live tracking to keep customers informed. We have worked with the help desk to help refine these issues and they are always quick to assist us **What problems is Descartes MacroPoint solving and how is that benefiting you?** Not only is Macropoint providing us with a clear picture of where our trucks are on the road and if they are able to reach the destination on time, but also allowing us to send tracking notifications to customers during non business hours to have round the clock updates ### 5. The Control Tower and Historical Search interfaces can be adjusted to make it easier to verify load details and confirm the current tracking identifier. The self-service onboarding link includes clear instructions, and carriers can add their credentials directly that helps them save time when following the instructions. If there are any issues during the integration process, we can email the MacroPoint team, and they typically reply within one day. The website also doesn’t experience power outages often (about once or twice per month), and when they do occur, they’re usually resolved the same day or by the following day. **What do you dislike about Descartes MacroPoint?** Sometimes tracking sessions stop pinging because the Inaccuracy Reason filter is incorrectly filtering out the pings. As a result, even though the truck, trailer, DR phone, or TMS load ID is still pinging, the updates show up only in FraudGuard and not in Location History. Also, some mobile tracking loads stop pinging and stay in the Possible Fraud Detected Status and we have to create a new tracking session even when we update the tracking identifier with a compatible DR phone or switch to ELD tracking In Historical Search, the tracking session map can only be opened by hovering over the load and clicking “View Map,” rather than clicking the load number directly. This change was confusing at first, and it also adds extra clicks when we’re trying to check Tracking Sessions Completed. We also usually only find out an ELD has issues after we notice loads aren’t tracking and then email the MP team. For example, Omnitracs didn’t work for a few days, but there was no warning about the issue. We only confirmed it by emailing daily to verify the connection status. **What problems is Descartes MacroPoint solving and how is that benefiting you?** The Location section in FraudGuard helps the VisTools team confirm which locator was used previously. The “Choose View” section helps the High Risk/High Value team verify the current DR location and cross-check the carrier’s update against the actual DR location in Satellite View. This makes it easier to confirm, for example, whether the DR is in a secure location. MP 2.0 also has a more user-friendly interface than the Lite version. We can navigate to a different section of the website while viewing the tracking session. ### 6. It helps us track in real time the location of all the trucks we have moving loads and allows for greater visibility for our customers, reducing the need for back and forth calls with drivers. It also reduces back and forth with carriers and check calls to find out where a driver is, and it minimizes pickup and delivery failures. When we know a delay is going to happen, we can alert the customer and plan accordingly. The initial setup was fairly straightforward. **What do you dislike about Descartes MacroPoint?** I experience some missed tracking events, likely due to cell track carriers not cooperating and/or a lack of cell phone service. **What problems is Descartes MacroPoint solving and how is that benefiting you?** Descartes MacroPoint helps us track trucks in real-time, reducing back and forth with carriers. It would be helpful if there was an easier way to update or switch the default to the new ELD, as many carriers have multiple connections showing.
